Destiny, the issue of "he wasn't supposed to be there" still stands. Because people were asking why are you caping for this guy who wasn't supposed to be there and who was LARPing? No one is caping for Rosenbaum or any of the other people. But you have been accused of caping for Rittenhouse. And your "no one was supposed to be there" defense seems like a deflection.

@@CourtneyHaynes There is no issue. It's irrelevant if he was "supposed to be there" or not. But it's doubly irrelevant if everybody present was not supposed to be there. Rittenhouse was on equal grounds with everybody else, until he was assaulted, at which point he had to defend himself. The whole point of "he was not supposed to be there" is to dismiss the initial assault. It's a textbook bad faith argument. What a moronic hill to die on.

It's possible for this to be legally self defense and simultaneously for this kid, his upbringing, and those who worship him to be violent reactionaries seeking vigilantism and placing themselves in the middle of civil rights unrest knowing they're going to provoke. It's possible for Destiny to be right about how the case would play out and what constitutes self defense, and simultaneously to believe unrest is a natural reaction to police blowing away black people over and over, and that Kyle's position was essentially to stand in opposition to that unrest with his "cool" AR-15. And that for him to get into an altercation where he has to shoot someone is a completely predictable thing.

Gun guy here, Destiny had a question about the calibers of an ar15. Ar15s come in a variety of calibers that have strengths and fallbacks. Most ar15s come in 2 calibers, 5.56, and .223. The 5.56 cartridge is virtually the same size as .223. However, the 5.56 packs a bit more punch, so the chamber is designed to withstand more pressure. You can fire .223 out of any 5.56 firearm. You may technically also shoot 5.56 out of any .223 firearm, but this is considered ill advised because the pressure differential can cause damage to the rifle and, although rare, potential injury to yourself and others.
@radical026
@radical026 2 жыл бұрын
Other gun guy here to clarify because this is modern fuddlore. 5.56x45mm NATO and .223 Remington have the same maximum pressure spec when measured using the same method. The reason that they are commonly listed as different is because the C.I.P. (NATO standard) and SAAMI (the de facto commercial standard) test methods are conducted differently, which is unfortunately not reflected properly in most readily available information online. The only issues one might run into are marginal differences in precision between shots, which has led to the development of the .223 Wylde chamber specification. There are (as far as I know) no actual .223 Wylde cartridges produced; rather, the .223 Wylde exists as a sort of average between the chamber dimensions of .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO, to reduce that difference in precision from using 5.56 in a .223 chambered barrel or .223 in a 5.56 chambered barrel (assuming the same barrel twist rate and length). So again, the difference in pressure is one that only exists on paper, due to different specification methods being utilized by different organizations. So when firing the most common ammunition types (usually for both .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO this would be a 55 grain FMJ or a 62 grain SS109 type projectile) there really is not much risk to one's rifle or oneself firing 5.56 in a .223 chamber. It is a shame that Wikipedia as well as many gun blogs continue to propagate this myth.

We now know all the witnesses lied when they said he lunged for his gun. It very clearly shows rosenbaum chasign him and kyle turns and shoots from 5 or 6 feet away. All that matters is if the killing of rosenbaum was lawful. If Kyle killed him in justified self defense, then the mob was committing assault with a deadly weapon and he was allowed to defend himself again. If the rosenbaum killing was a murder, then the mob has a right to subdue an active shooter who just committed a murder. No the prosecutors logic is that the enhanced drone footage that was just released is the first very clear footage ever shown of the incident and it shows Kyle lied when he claimed rosenbaum grabbed the barrel of his ar15. It shows that all the witnesses lied when they said rosenbaum lunged for his gun. What literally happened was an unarmed guy followed kyle, or chased him, and kyle turned and shot an unarmed guy with a rifle. That is generally not recognized as self defense. People pull guns and shoot people who are unarmed punched them or pushed them or body checked them or threatened them all the time, even in the state of texas that is not lawful self defense.

@@normandy2501 if you listen to lawyers, they are disingenuous in the way they try and frame stuff. I can understand making a good case, but there should be ethical lines we don't cross. This prosecutor has stepped all over all of it. It's coupled with my experience of being prosecuted for possession of Marijuana for residue in a pipe. I tried to argue to him to drop the Marijuana possession charge and I will plea out to the paraphernalia charge. I tried to explain that possession of Marijuana was possession with intent to for personal use. I tried to explain that the residue is not possessed for personal use and that it's the only thing that made the pipe illegal. He then threatened me jail. He didn't like my argument and said we can sentence you today with 6 months and exclaimed that if the police said I had residue, then the charges stay. Nah these people are generally sleezy people. I even had a lawyer tell me that cops can do whatever they want after I proved that he illegally seized me. Take this case for instance. Here we have a series of violent riots over police involved shootings and the very prosecutors that ruled the Jacob Blake shooting was justified. Part of the same government that failed in protecting property and ultimately life. This is the total failure of government on every front and they using Kyle as their scapegoat. This whole case is just depressing on every level. The protests and riots over a warranted police shooting. The fact that due to political pressure/reasons the police is made to stand down rather than protect their community. The fact that this happens frequently enough that there are people that feel the need to take the law in their own hands. The fact that rioters felt comfortable chasing someone with a gun, threaten and attack him aggressively. The fact that the police and prosecution was so quick to be comfortable arresting and moving to trial when there is clear video evidence showing what any sane person would consider a situation where he might fear for his life warranting self defence. The fact that the media has spun and even was at best wrong and worst misleading about this thing like crazy when it's so open and shut unless there had been some evidence that just hasn't been provided even a year later. Then finally the large portion of Americans just blindly eating that shit up despite everyone complaining you can't trust the media no one seems to be willing to even look at the recording and some of those that do still make excuses after the fact. It's just an indictment on so many levels.

don't forget that the media facilitated a lie that the people Rittenhouse shot were black, and then refused to inform people that they were actually White for several weeks. they allowed the whole public first impression of Rittenhouse to form within the haze of misinformation. they ran this whole media trial for weeks without dispelling any of the lies about the case. they insisted for weeks that Kyle had no right to have a gun, had no ties to the community, took the gun across state lines, etc. they totally glossed over the prior crimes of the degenerates who attacked Kyle, even the child rape conviction. and somehow worst of all, they allowed their viewers to believe Kyle Rittenhouse was a white supremacist who murdered 3 innocent black protesters in cold blood. they made the whole thing about race. after all, the protest was about a black guy killed by police. so people naturally jumped to the conclusion that the protesters were black, too. they spent a whole lot of time talking about Rittenhouse's race, yet never even mentioned the race of the people Rittenhouse shot. so that even weeks after it happened, most of the leftists I knew at the time still thought Rittenhouse had shot black people. not one leftist friend of mine was aware that he had shot White people until I told them. because every time CNN or MSNBC or NYT mentioned the "victims," they were just discussed as nondescript persons, no photographs, no description of their race, etc. most people didn't even know their names, probably because if the media had mentioned their names, people would know they weren't black, since they had White or Jewish-sounding names. that sounds paranoid, but it's impossible to be too paranoid when it comes to the media. making decisions about what to say and what to omit on the basis of how it would affect their ongoing push for racial tension and anti-White retribution is exactly the kind of thing they routinely do. however much we hate the media, we don't hate them nearly enough

This is such an obvious case of self-defense, it's a charade that he was even charged and there's even a trial. Each time Kyle pulled the trigger, he was retreating or trying to retreat from people attacking him and the people he shot at were either trying to take his gun, pointing a gun at him and/or hitting him in the head, with the first person shot having threatened to kill him previously. And most importantly, each incident is documented on video from multiple angles, proving this to be the case. Obviously, the DA in this case was motivated by the politics of the day, by the fact this occurred at a BLM/Antifa rally. What a joke.

The fact that he was down on the street putting out the fires that the rioters were setting is largely what made him the target of Rosenbaum and Zymenski(sp), as much or more than him being armed. And (2) I don’t think anyone is missing this. No one said he made a wise decision to go down there, much less go down there with his AR, but he had as much legal right to be there as anyone else that night. And given he was there to protect people/property while others like Rosenbaum were there to destroy it, I’m not sure why we should single him out in condemnation. He’s trying to make sure it’s noted that he objected to particular evidentiary decisions by the judge so he can appeal by arguing that the judge abused his discretion or made a mistake that was severe enough to have changed the outcome of the trial. @@kindacoolstuff1595 Two things to consider. A 9mm round travels at around 1200 feet per second. The hollow point projectile blossoms out reducing the velocity on contact but causes more internal damage than a non-hollow point. The reduced velocity is the very thing that wouldn't allow that round to "take the arm off". The pistol round also comes out of a shorter barrel which is where velocity is generated. Longer barrell=higher velocity=more damage. That said, the 223 FMJ round that was fired from KR's rifle accelerate to 3100 feet per second and loses velocity at distance. That round is designed to tumble. Meaning when it hits soft matter, it begins to tumble inside the body. That was the misconception of people saying the .223 is "designed to pass through a target". It isn't. Its meant to penetrate and tumble to cause more soft tissue damage. At point blank range, there is minimal difference in damage to the target between a hollow point 9mm and an FMJ .223.

Being realistic, he was likely just coached by his lawyers to be willfully dense around anything having to do with actually using the gun. @@connortation5545 I don't think he was being dense or supposed to look dense either. The prosecutor was very careful in how he constructed the question about intent and the language he used was purposefully loaded to sound as though it was his intent to kill the man. I can only imagine Rittenhouse felt that if he agreed that the intention was to intimidate, or cause harm then that would later be used against him as he would have admitted he intended to kill the guy. He was likely told by his own lawyers to only admit what can later be used to fit the narative he was acting in self defense.

I love how the surviving guy that got shot destroyed the prosecution's case in cross exam by literally stating Kyle only shot him when he pointed at gun at Kyle and that didn't shoot anyone that backed off with hands up, plus all his omissions to the police and lying about losing his gun when he had it in his hand as he ran after Kyle. This prosecutor though is pretty shady the judge has went off on him for bad conduct several times

This is such a complex situation but I do have empathy for Kyle after watching this. It's insane the prosecutor was suggesting he should have tended to the dude he shot, the crowd would have torn him apart. I'm a doctor and we are taught to always ensure our safety and not approach someone if there is a risk to us. Sounds callous but it's first aid 101, don't cause yourself to become an additional casualty. I'm a leftist and I've avoided this subject as it is so controversial and I honestly don't know what I think, I don't know enough about what happened, but that point really bugged me. It makes no sense from a medic protocol standpoint AND a self defence standpoint to approach someone you shot while there is a crowd who clearly are upset and angry with you. Whether the shooting was justified or not, leaving the scene was the only sensible course of action. Especially if there is a hospital just over the road, they can help better than you! I think I would have gone into the hospital to call for help and also as protection, and waited for authorities, but I honestly don't know how I'd react in such a stressful situation and whatever else he did, I don't think we should judge him unfairly for that. Everyone thinks they would behave perfectly and we love to critique how others react to shocking or scary situations but when my boyfriend died I reacted really strangely due to stress and shock. It felt so surreal, I couldn't stop laughing and I didn't cry until the next day when it really hit me (and it took me years to get back to normal functioning due to the intense grief.) Humans behave weirdly under duress/in shock.

I have a pretty similar feeling on the matter. Let the courts decide what the facts are and let the cards fall where they may. It’s tragic that this kid and those bystanders put themselves in this situation in the first place. I find it so incredibly gross tho that people are praising rittenhouse as some sort of hero. He’s not a hero, he may or may not have acted in self defense, but he definitely put himself in a dangerous situation, and his choices lead him to killing people. There’s no arguing that fact

EMS are trained in a very similar fashion and won't go unless the area is secured first. This was shown with the whole shooting in CHAZ/CHOP. They wouldn't let the cops in to secure their safety so EMS refused to go in per policy.

He did after the fact and they gave him water, what stopped him from doing that instead but prior instead of engaging with the firearm?

@Don that's weird because I'm talking about the 17 year old who while trying to stop people burning down a community that he has been part of for a long time. Then while trying to put out fires and give people first aid. Then a convicted child rapist threatens to kill him, then when the 17 year old is alone this same pedo chases him down yelling "fuck you" and tries to take his rifle away. then the 17 year old kid shoots this person who just tried to take his rifle, and notices an approaching mob yelling "get him" or "cranium that boy" then when he is struck with a skateboard, he falls to the ground. where someone tries to kick him in the face, Then he is struck again in the back of the head/neck with a skateboard and that same assailant tries to take his rifle as well. so he shoots that guy. This same guy who threatened to gut his brother with a knife because he didn't clean the house right. then another guy pretends to surrender with a glock in his hand. Then when the 17 year old shows IMMENSE trigger discipline and doesn't shoot anyone else, until this same guy decides to point his glock at that kids head. If you are so mentally impaired as to look at all the video and see anything but self defense you are suffering from a terminal amount of cognitive dissonance. People liek you are so intellectually inept that you can only form opinions based on the particular political commentators you watch.

JLP is completely detatched from reality. The defense had the opportunity to present his point of view in the best light possible the prosecutor's job is to show what they were trying to hide. An exemple of what he COULD be hiding is that he knew that open carrying an ar15 would provoke people into removing it from him and by trying to do that would start a fire where he could shoot people and call it self defense.
