After 4 days of keto my knee pain went completely away. Had a knee injury that the pain progressively got worse. Got a cortisone shot and it only lasted 3 weeks. The knee pain came back with a vengeance. Heard about keto...got started right away and did strict keto not this dirty keto business. Knee pain went away and never came back. I was told I had no cartilage left in my knee and that I would be looking at a replacement in a few years. That was 4 years ago. Not to mention I lost 75 lbs in 4 1/2 months. I didn't starve....I ate responsibly. Listened to my body...no snacking in between. I ate REAL WHOLE FOODS. If anybody tells you keto isn't safe ..ask them what is so unhealthy about REAL WHOLE FOODS?! I'm no longer insulin resistant. I sleep better, my mood is better. Have more energy and NO BRAIN FOG! All of my health markers are in range. That's proof right there it works. Anyone that says it doesn't and that says they have tried it...are.not doing it correctly.

@Island Man Keto is awesome, but there is no scientific evidence that demonstrates keto will get rid of skin tags. As you lose fat and get into better health, you are less likely to develop skin tags, but once you have skin tags, they may eventually fall off, or get accidentally ripped off, but most do not simply disappear on their own, and there is no direct link to existing skin tags simply disappearing as a direct result of keto. Sometimes you get lucky and the fall off on their own. Most of the time, they have be froze or burned off. It would be a nice benefit, but I am afraid that is wishful thinking. However, there are many great reasons to leverage keto, as it is a very powerful way to lose fat and improve health.
@__Paul__2 жыл бұрын
@Island Man I agree that the formation of them has links to insulin, but what I am talking about is the dissapearance of them being related to keto. I wholeheartedly agree that keto is powerful, and is one the best things you can do for your health. Skin tags can fall off for different reasons, but a link between them disappearing because you are on keto has yet to be proven. It would definitely be a nice bonus though.
@elcapitanian2 жыл бұрын
@@__Paul__ Your logic is very flawed. The proper conclusion should be, it may be true that the Keto diet may help with that,but since there is currently no documented link between keto and this effect ,I can't conclude one way or another, however I choose, for no good reason at all, to believe that it's wishful thinking.
@__Paul__2 жыл бұрын
@@elcapitanian It is your thinking that is flawed, and it is because you misinterpreted what I stated, which is due to your predisposition towards Keto. Keto is absolutely amazing and can help solve lots of health problems, but there are some claims that currently are just not backed by science. Let me explain it to you this way: 1. There are studies that indicate that the development of skin tags are linked to insulin resistance and diabetes, and are backed by science. Some skin tags fall off on their own, eventually get torn off, etc., either of which can happen without immediately detecting it. 2. There are numerous studies that show that a keto-based diet can help you lose fat, increase insulin sensitivity, and get rid of T2D, and are also backed by science. 3. However, while adopting a keto-based diet can help you lose weight, burn fat, and therefore reduce the risk of developing NEW skin tags, there are currently ZERO studies that prove that a keto-based diet will help you get rid of EXISTING skin tags. Many people have lost skin tags without doing keto, or even losing weight. Just because skin tags are associated with insulin resistance and diabetes, and keto has proven to be effective at eliminating insulin resistance, and even diabetes, that does NOT mean that therefore, Keto will eliminate existing skin tags, or that an existing skin tag fell off because you are doing Keto. Correlation does not mean causation. Losing weight can help reduce the likelihood of developing new skin tags, but there are currently no scientific studies that conclude that a keto based diet can make your existing skin tags go away. Sorry, it doesn't work that way.

Dr Jason Fung asserts that muscle wastage during fasting is a myth; the body preferentially uses the stored energy (body fat) over precious muscle. Evolutionarily, body fat is stored as energy for times when when there's nothing to eat. This is why, in prehistoric times, when our ancestors didn't have access to food regularly, they didn't eat everyday, yet they remained fit and healthy in order to hunt their food. if they had no muscle they would've starved to death. Dr Fung says that the body is "just not not that stupid". Why would it burn precious muscle over stored energy (body fat) when there's no food available?

I started keto in 2019 and I’ve found that Keto is not the great equaliser. From my experience, keto works differently for different people. My skin is good, my blood tests are within normal limits but the thing I wanted most - noticeable weight loss still hasn’t happened! Despite regular intermittent fasting and low carb lifestyle, a focus on keeping insulin low ( Dr Ben Bikman) and a rejection of processed foods I’ve started to gain weight. Is it my age, 66? Is Dr Phinney right in that every body finds it own “settling” weight? Is it my microbiome (according to Dr Tim Spector)? I’ve started making my own kefir. Is it poor sleep? I’ve adopted Dr Panda’s circadian approach. I’ve listened to Dr Perlmutter and David Anderson about how salt can encourage the conversion to fructose and made adaptations. What else can I do?

You need exercise. I walk 2 hours a day in two times for decades. Never miss a day, even sick. Walk walk walk. That's all you need and drink green tea with ginger. I don't count calories, don't follow any particular diet. I eat the good high nutritious foods, mainly a version of mediterranean food . I avoid red meat and dairy except cottage cheese and yogurt. Am 69. I can move my weight up and down the way I wanted and under my control without any particular diet. I did try keto 3 months. It bothered my kidney with high fat and protein foods. You are right, it's not for everyone and it's too aggressive and too strict in the consumption of variety foods the body needs. However mediterranean diet has been proven to be beneficial for human longevity. Exercise is very important, the most important and need to get done religiously and seriously in your daily life. I don't get sick the past many decades. No cold and flu and no vaccine needed.

High carb 'diets' never work. You can almost starve yourself- but obviously that is not an option! Low/no carb is really the only way to lose weight permanently. Also, having said that, the carbohydrates we should be eating, need to come from vegetables(not potatoes, carrots, or corn!) Healthy fat sources are of utmost importance, our brains are made up of cholesterol/fat, so it's exactly what we need- olive oil, avocado oil, ghee(clarified butter), coconut oil & real butter. As long as we have fat on our bodies, we don't need anything to eat! However, most people will not fast properly- by that, I mean water, with Himalayan pink salt and potassium chloride added- without these electrolytes, you will not be able to do a prolonged fast. After a fast, even a 48 hour fast, you will be in ketosis. Sometimes I break a fast with a Tbsp. of avocado oil or coconut oil, that way you are automatically fat adapted! Wow..that was really long!🙄😊

Becoming a fat burner is the goal of keto/very low carb eating. I believe being a fat adapted fat burner producing ketones is our natural state and is required to be healthy. I believe the main reason humans produce ketones so readily is to help feed our huge brains. When fat burning is blocked due to chronically elevated insulin levels from our modern processed food diet, all sorts of bad things happen. Let me also point out that true herbavores such as gorillas and cows use fat as their main fuel. This fat comes from the fiber they eat. We cant derive fat from fiber like they do, we have to eat it.

The New Yorker magazine just published an article in its travel issue of some travel company offering expensive "Get Lost" adventures to moneyed white people (I mean, sure, the company probably offers travel to anyone, but let's face it - it's gonna be moneyed white people). The English author, whose fitness level was assessed beforehand, was taken to the mountains of Morocco and given a 50-lb pack to carry with copious energy bars and other high-calorie foods, water, a tarp, survival gear, etc., as well as a GPS unit and training on how to survive in the wilderness. The hook is that you don't know where you're going until the day before, and the challenge is to walk yourself out. I thought, Oh, wow, fifty pounds of gear, food and survival tools - this must be at least a two-week adventure. No, dear reader. It was 18 miles in two days. Forty-eight hours! You don't need food for that at all. And it turns out he was followed the entire time, just out of sight, by the business owner in a vehicle Some challenge. I rolled my eyes and moved on.
