My GSD is almost 13, now deaf and she still knows my hand motions and loves her walks...they need us more in their golden years❤❤❤

This is good for anyone with an older dog. Shared with my community pet group. Thank you!

At the beginning of the year, I took in a 14 year old terrier who had previously been somewhat neglected, at least in regard to all the things mentioned here. Clipping his nails, grooming him, feeding him better, getting him on meds - all of that has drastically improved both how he looks and seems to feel. He's mostly deaf and partially blind, he has arthritis and bad teeth, but he still visibly enjoys going on long walks and socializing with other animals and humans. A few weeks ago, he lost sight of me and my other dog while we were in the woods. I searched for him for a while, but knew he likely would have just walked home. It was a good 20 minutes, but he found his way back by himself. Still, since then I've been keeping a long leash on him, which definitely makes things easier!

We made a ramp for our older Lab as she was having back pain and found stairs difficult. Agree with the raised food bowl. We did that for her as well and it was more comfortable for her. Also older dogs may have arthritis that gives them sore joints so be gentle with the petting.

At what age is it appropriate to start them on supplements?

I would really love a video that gave kind of a more detailed look into the first year. For example, at 2-3 months what we should focus on training wise, feed it x amount of times a day, let it out every x amount. Then what changes at the 4-5 month mark, etc. I have watched a lot of your videos and other videos to try to gain as much knowledge as possible before I bring my puppy home. I have owned dogs in the past and always been around dogs. But this will be my first time "properly" training one and I wanna do right by the dog as best as I can!

Hey @itzKate98 we have that! :) Here is the first 10 weeks - kzbin.info/www/bejne/nqHFaGCal8-Jibc Here is 12-24 weeks - kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZPZZHeBnLSho7s&t We also have lots of videos on the "teenage phase after that" - www.youtube.com/@McCannDogs/search?query=teenage I hope this helps! I love the suggestion though, I am going to get our team building out a new video for "What your dog should know at the 1 year mark". Happy Training, Dan

We trained Dexter until three months before he died. We had to tone it down, because he was in pain. So…and he was happy until the last 72 hours v
