How can you not admire Ricky Williams? Here's a man who could have gone down as one of the best all time but decided his health and happiness were more important. I'm 30 and couldn't believe now, looking back, that he was as successful with such a lackluster team around him. He was ahead of his time but his voice has certainly shaped acceptance (in some eyes) and has allowed players to be more vocal on certain topics. Thanks again #34!

@Chalk89 Жыл бұрын
@@kingarchnyc you're looking at it in the context of right v wrong, I'm more so looking at it from a popular v unpopular decision. He made the unpopular decision but ultimately the decision that was best for him. I do believe his story is worth the watch/familiarity for young adults - not so they can follow, but learn that one needs to do what's best for them regardless of the critics.

Well said. Ricky is an example of a person who is happy with who he really is and has passion in whatever he may be doing in his life at any particular moment in time. He lives life his way and does not hold back his feelings or his beliefs. In my opinion he is a Hall of Famer. That would be an honor for Ricky yet I am certain he does not think about much these days since he keeps his mind occupied...The advice Bill Parcells texted him is very true. Be humble in this life, be yourself and never change or do things according to what others may think you should do. Ricky Williams is a good man that would be first to admit he is not perfect. None of are perfect but we can all strive to be our best self each day. I wish you all the best in whatever our future may bring us all in such uncertain times. Smile more, say hello to those you pass by, and refrain from picking sides by trying to understand all sides and engage in calm conversation with others to find things you have in common with others. That would be a positive step along with turning off the television.

I'm just glad it didn't ruin his life especially since it wasn't even about "drugs" or money, it was about having a purpose, something that actually made him happy.

It's also insane that they'd rather have their athletes popping pills than making themselves feel better and maybe opening themselves to different culturally enriching experiences. It's like they want them to be braindead even though they're are hundreds of nfl players that are very smart and surely would appreciate an experience like the one Ricky had.
@arrjee94744 жыл бұрын
Ricky said he was genuinely happy for the Ravens winning the Super-bowl and did not feel one ounce of regret. When he said that, I felt he lived such a whole life, which made his transition so smooth. Many of us live a one dimensional life when we’re capable of so much more. After watching this documentary and, RUN RICKY RUN, I feel such a genuine gladness for him, and inspiration from him. I also see how fans are mostly one dimensional and closed minded. Fans profess “love” & “adoration” for athletes, until they don’t do what we think they should do ... then we hate and try to scorn them to shame. The masses are always wrong, and that’s probably because strong judgements are made on such little information and shallow feelings.

Short sighted thinking. The games would have been called differently if Ricky had played, which could have resulted in the Ravens not making the Superbowl, possibly not even the playoffs. A great player doesn't make a winning team, team of great team players does.

@@jordanbabcock9349 The 2012 Ravens team was loaded with great players. They had been to the AFC Championship game the year before with Ricky on the team and lost on a 32 yard field goal miss. I'm not really sure how much thought you put into this ostensibly "thoughtful" response. "The games would have been called differently"? The Ravens would have had Ricky Williams and Bernard Pierce as their #2 RB options. Was Bernard Pierce really the guy who put that 2012 Ravens team over the top? Man, San Diego (my hometown) has put out some monster RBs (Davis, Williams, Bush, Allen). Patrick Henry is probably 10 minutes from my parent's house and we played the Patriots every year in football. This dude put up more than 10,000 yards as it was. Imagine if he hadn't taken a year off, hadn't had to serve a four game suspension, hadn't been suspended for a year, or hadn't gotten hurt after coming back. He's at #31 on the rushing list right now. Probably could've been top 10 all time. Very happy for him that he is so at peace with his retirement and leaving behind the game. Even after seeing the team he was on win a Super Bowl the season after he left, it didn't bother him one bit. Not many guys would share that sentiment. That is a man who understands that his life and how he is defined is more than just a game.
