Hi guys would like to say a massive thank you for all your content, I'm a dad of 4 and ordering take away is sometimes super expensive and I'm shocking at cooking, the wife does it all. I love these chips when ordering take away. I'm glad I came across your super easy to follow videos. Just let you know I have just completed the chips and they was unbelievable I can't belive how good they was, I've purchased all the ingredients for the following from your videos. Really like the new setup with the static camera pointing down at the prep area, much easier to watch than the handheld footage. Only minor complaint would be the aduio when the pan is on, difficult to hear you guys - could do with a lapel mic? Will definitely be trying this recipe out :D

I've just made this and it's delicious. I've tried to make salt and pepper chips before using a dodgy recipe off a popular website and it was awful. I now know that SAND GINGER IS THE BEST FLAVOUR EVER. There are no substitutes for it.

My favourite takeaway does them with a bit of fresh chilli diced in. Even some local Indian takeaways have added a version of salt and pepper chips to their menus. They do there's with the Indian takeaway style chips too. Different flavours to chinese takeaway style, but still very tasty.

Here in Lincoln the recipe is a little different but identical in every take-away... Tesco skanky chips, salt, pepper and two or three micro slices of green pepper and onion... Done. If you can see the onion and bell pepper slices.... Its your lucky day. Will deffo do it at home your way from now on. Thanks. 👍

I've never seen that on a takeaway menu round here (Essex) but it looks awesome so I'm eager to give it a go. Best frozen chips IMO are Lidl triple cooked chips (fried), I don't use anything else now. Nice to see you doing recipe videos again.

How long do you let the chips sit, between first and second frying? Do you let them go cold? Regarding the chips, I actually find it quite difficult to find frozen frying chips in the supermarket, they seem to assume everyone wants oven chips. I hate them!

@@ZiangsFoodWorkshop I just love that people don’t realise there’s more MSG in a serving of broccoli than you would ever add to your food. I think it was just misinformation set out by salt companies just like sugar did with other forms of sweeteners. There’s been plenty of studies now to prove that there’s no problem with using MSG in moderation. Also that it was way safer on the body than salt.

I completely blagged this a couple weeks ago and it was good, not amazing but close. I did use szechuan pepper simply because I liked the taste and dimension it offered. I also prefer the onion and pepper sliced in thin strips as opposed to chopped. I used regular powdered ginger, how does that fare as a substitute for the sand ginger?

god vid chin, i use aviko 9/16 chips, as that's what most takeaways near me use, what do you use, , also, can you help me, when i make them the final products, seems to go soft and not crispy n any advice, is it cooking too long in wok, or too much oil

Have you double fried? Best isnto leave to cook for 2 to 3 hours

I've only seen these once, on the menu of a Chinese takeaway not far from Manchester Airport. And I got them out of fascination for how something could be more than twice as expensive as the regular chips, with the addition of two usually free ingredients. Well, there was a tiny bit more to it than that, but that particular one: oh... extremely salty. I sooo regretted not getting two portions of regular chips.
