Ok, there are some details to figure out - great vid. In MTR mode, the lit channel number switches just show what channels to RECORD from? In playback it plays all channels? I am trying to record on channels at once Can you adjust the record levels independently - it looks like you adjust the playback gain - but can you equalize signals during RECORD?
@BBWalkerTV5 жыл бұрын
FIrst part of question - yes red led over channel number indicates which is enabled for recording. Remember that in MTR you can record only a few configuration - 1 channel per track or , 2 channel from internal mic and input 1 or 2 - it is great to multi track recording - track by track. If you want full / all 4ch recording in parallel you schuld switch to 4ch Second part: Yes during playback always all channels play every time, you can adjust gain of playback to mute some of them if you need Thid part questions: Yes you can set the input level during record - just press channel selector hold, and volume up/down

Thanks for the video. My issue is that when I record my acoustic and play fingerpicking the bass is off the charts. Either I try it as an interface and a daw or just record to the memory card and my bass strings are very loud. The only way I can get it decent is too have the zoom input on 100 and then have the volume knob on my acoustic just barely on. The issue with that is there is no waveform to work with at all. And I don't use a thumbpick when when playing fingerstyle. The recordings i have made with a flatpick or perfectly fine though.

O'key very nice.. My question now is if i can mix [-by using only the XLR Combo jack-] the 3 channels into the 4rth channel and after to ride again other instruments in to the 3 channels hu i used before to become so 6 instruments by my recording for a song. Is that possible by using only the H4n Pro? I mean without using music programs on a computer or anything else? Thank you anyway my friend.

I am trying the 4 track recording like you did in the video, but I don't have an external speaker. I assumed the recording would play through the speaker on the back of the H4N. I record track one, and then want to listen to it before recording the 2nd track but I'm not getting any sound. It's like my recording didn't work. I got it to playback through the ext. speaker the back when I was just recording normal conversation using the built in mics. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Any ideas?

I've wondered how to do this for a while, no one seems to be covering this, you show it in really simple steps, showing cable routing etc, I've read the manual, it's great to have an in depth physical manual for reference but it doesn't explain it as simply as you, do more on the possibilities of this this "crazy little bastard". Thank you once again. P.S. I've bought the Zoom "dead cat2 windsheild and tried using low cut and or compresser and the sound from the built in mics is poor compared to KZbinrs instructional vids, I've set the gain correctly but it picks up a fair bit of noise, any ideas?
@BBWalkerTV5 жыл бұрын
+Punk Dub Hifi well. The overall quality depends on many things like the environment, good acoustic with no echoing surroundings, the distance form mic to the source and overall background noise. Try record inside a car, with no engine running and talk directly to mics, 5-10 inch Max and compare results.

What is a New Project ? Do I aleay have to create one when doing MTR?
@BBWalkerTV5 жыл бұрын
Create new each time you want to create something new (I switch each time I create new song) and save old work for future editing . You can also work on the same project all the time, depending on the REC MODE value you can 'Overwrite' or 'Always new' - preserve old tracks) But the general idea of project - you can always go back to it and add/re record some of the Multi track , if you are on the same all the time - you won't have such advantage. If you are confused - I can create another video about project management and REC MODE types - pros and cons The basic disadvantage of new project : you need to setup levels again - they are retested to default values.

@@BBWalkerTV Thanks for a great response! I am not a musician, mainly videos. I want to create two separate tracks/files from two separate mics ( input 1 and input 2) at the same time and decide which track I want to use. Imagine a video interview situation. Two people, separate mics. Then if I decide I only want to use person one recording I have them on a completely separate track. Hope this makes sense. The other thing then I have to sort is any bleed over. Guess they would need to be away from each other or mics very directional. Do you think a New Project should be created before I start?
@BBWalkerTV5 жыл бұрын
@@laurencegrant2882 In this case - recording in one time - two separate sources - you should use 4CH - 2 channels will be empty but it doesn't matter. MTR could be also used for your purpose (2 track at same time) but if you are not planning to add more tracks (like second voice line or bass in songs) you don't need to use MTR. 4CH is faster to start and easier to use and it will produce 2 stereo files with will be easy to split into mono tracks in post-productions. However if you decide to MTR _ make new project and select 2 inputs (red leds) - maybe I will create such video and explains differences

we could not listen the overdubbing of second track with no monitor sound to show to the viewers ,cause adjusting the volume of the instrument is important
@BBWalkerTV4 жыл бұрын
Maybe instead overdubbing - use another track ? The basic principle of recorder is not to "burn" sound with overdrive. If it will be to silent you can always do normalize in DAW. for easy manage - I have put a cheap mixer between stereo output of zoom h4 and speakers. Thanks to that it does not affect the recorded sound be gives me ability to adjust left / right (left drums and keyboard , right guitar and looper) On the mixer everything goes into mono input . BTW I'm using 4CH . Please describe more what is your case. How many instruments, how many musicians. Maybe we find our some good solution.

@@BBWalkerTV Do you think the sound quality mixdown from the zoom Hn4 is same quality of the Pro tools ,garage band from Apple mac????

@@manguera9 I am pretty sure yes - Digital Mixdown in very simple computation task . When everything already is digital (sampled in given sample size and frequency) mixdown performed by DSP it is loss-less. Not to expect great quality'. I have used it for that, and it performed decently.
