Thank you, Lee Smith. A couple of lessons learnt from my side. 1. As noted by others, the U part stays in your hand when pushing the line through the hole in the tank. 2. Push the seal in from the tank side. Doing so is good because coming from the other side will drag dirt into the tank and also because the spring assemblies on the other side get in the way if you do it the other way around. 3. Push the seal all the way through, then pull it back to seal. The flat top side makes it difficult to seat pushing it home from the tank side. Easier to seat it bringing it back in. 4. Set the square tabs on the side away from you. Not so far that you can’t see them. Set them and push the line over against them to complete seating from the upper side. 5. Use a smallish flat screwdriver to gently ease the rest of the seal in place. Pulling it hard from the top side will result only in frustration. It is a delicate exercise, using the screwdriver and you finger to seat the seal. The gap in the video is the missing footage of this struggle. There is no pop, only the leak of fuel out of the seal if you fail. Set it on the back side, then ease the rest into line.

Lots of stress on the new fuel line by pinching with pliers and pulling up hard to get the plug set in the top of the tank, ESPECIAILLY if installed the right way (flat side up). Instead, I pulled the carb (EZ), put a film of 2cycle oil on the plug, and fed the fuel line through the slot in the housing so that the plug rested on the hole in the tank with the flat side of the plug facing left. Then positioned two flathead screwdrivers from behind, setting them flat on either side on top of the plug. Pressing down and working the screwdrivers a little to set it, the plug popped in place in

well made video thankyou sir, i tore my 025 apart today to rebuild the carb thats what the stihl tech said was wrong with it. And i found out it was a bad fuel line but i took it off and didnt know how to put it back on, so thankyou sir this video helped! Godbless

nice video EXCEPT grommet on hose is easier to install in gas tank when inserted into tank under the carburetor (after removing it). In reverse direction of this video and less strain on gas line..Just look at the grommet and think about it. Good luck.

Helpful, but not so easy. Could not bring myself to pull the new line that hard- felt like it was about to pull apart! But managed to ease it thru with plenty of oil and a bit of push/pulling.

The method used here keeps you from having to removing the carburetor. The grommet should seal from any direction applied. What may arise is that the ends of the hose may be of different size i.e. one size for the carburetor and another size for the fuel filter... Cheers

the line is installed upside down. An 025 is a direction fuel line that only 1 end will fit the fuel filter and the other will only fit the carb.

@@roberthartford9171 Same for my 023C - different end mouldings for the pipe to fit the large filter and the small carb entry, clearly the wrong way round in this video, I'm going to try installing mine from the carburetor end as that's the direction the grommit wants to enter by the smaller side of the grommit - the wiggly end of the pipe is supposed to be in the tank so the filter can sit in the right places. (EDIT-) Yep, put it in from the outside with the wiggly end in the tank. Perfect!

With due respect, most people pull the old out and put the new in from the top of the tank, not through the tank itself. That is the way the grommet is made to go. And be careful using pliers on that soft hose. Otherwise your video is helpful for those who do not know how.

wouldn't recomend using a screwdriver on the air filter. they're brittle, it's safer and much easier to grab the ears on the sides and rock to the rear of the unit. also he put the fuel line in upside down..... it came out one way and it went in another. lol

Upside down montage gives a slightly fault fit for the filter and the carb. The fuel filter fits perfect to the corect end. Up side down montage this he he sorry to say !

Sorry, but folks need to know that you have installed this fuel line "backwards" and "upside -down". End for end, it is backwards. The short curvy end goes inside the fuel tank. Also, not that it matters with it installed wrong, but there is a certain orientation that is desired and can be determined by the flat side of the grommet. Sometimes the "obvious" is not really as obvious as it seems.

YES. That's what I thought. How can the widest side of the grommet pass through the hole thru the fuel tank and seal itself properly? I almost ripped the hose trying it his way. Best to remove the carburetor and put the hose through the top. Shouldn't have posted this video because it is just wrong.

@@coma3550 I guess it depends where you buy your pipe, and what size the filter and carb attachments are. 21/23/25 are supposed to be the same family but mine are different sizes and the OEM pipe I bought is NOT the same size at both ends! Fit it this way around and there's a nasty surprise coming when fitting to the filter and the carb. And anyway, Stihl designed the pipe with a wiggly end to go in the tank so the filter can sit in the right place, it may not move around into the right part of the tank as you turn the saw for various jobs if the wrong end is in the tank although it may work upright ok.

I decided to put mine through from the carb side because mine has different size ends for the substantially different sizes of carb and filter fittings so my pipe can only go one way round (the right way round ). It's not had to fit from the carb side - I didn't even have to take off the carb or the choke control lever - just manoeuvred it into position, poked it past the orange plastic shroud with a blunt screwdriver and then used same instrument to help guide the grommit into alignment with the tank hole while gently pulling on the pipe inside the tank - wrenching with pliers isn't going to be good for the pipe and a proper OEM pipe isn't particularly cheap. Job done, really pleased!
