I see you experienced the strong winds that have been such a feature of our weather this summer but as always in spite of challenging conditions you have produced a wonderful video. I’ve never seen the Loire, well to tell the truth I’ve never been to France, so thanks for this vision of a beautiful part of the world. So many Cormorants! I’ve seen what I considered to be large flocks here but they wouldn’t be more than a dozen at any one time and it’s quite a site seeing so many. I wish you lots of luck with the rest of the season. All the best, John. 🍀🍀🤞🤞😊😊

Thank you Pat for uploading such a beautiful, relaxing video, I was in Dorset last week with poor internet so just caught up with your latest production which has a very poetic introduction - those fields of buckwheat and beautiful Swallowtail butterflies. I was particularly interested in the appearance of buckwheat as in the 70’s I was following a Japanese ‘macrobiotic’ diet which featured buckwheat spaghetti, aduki beans etc. I assumed buckwheat was a cereal crop like normal wheat but it’s more like a plant from the herbaceous border in a garden. Loved the selection of flora and fauna. Hope you have a successful and peaceful October! 😊👍

Hello John! I apologize for the late answer: I just arrived in France where it rains buckets. Buckwheat is from the Northern part of Asia and indeed in Japan it is consumed as special noodles together with pickles made of some mountain weeds, and of course a special sauce. I have been checking my old haunts along the Loire but the water is extremely high and sunshine about once a week! Nothing but usual birds. Caspian gulls were a surprise but I saw they also go to the UK. Take care and good luck in this new season!👋👋🙏🙏‼️

Oh Patricia, what a wonderful video of such an intelligent creature. I can see why this bird is not liked in cities ha ha. Another thing that stands out for me is the way he enhances his sound by using the telegraph pole. How clever. The bathing episodes are fun to watch also. All in all, I think maybe you have captured everything this clever crow has to offer. Thank you for this. Joan
@Nature_Watching_Japan25 күн бұрын
@@temp24Lno5 Dear Joan, What a kind understanding you have about this crow which is so much maligned in this country! It is so clever you can see it in its eyes and yes in its « expressions ». There is one Japanese writer who defends it by writing really good books but otherwise no one has any understanding of this bird. Our bin bag system isn’t very good so with their enormous beak they just slit through the net and go through the goods. Their favorite is mayonnaise because it is made with eggs. Like all crows they are of course scavengers and would rather steal black kites and ospreys dinners and they mob them … But kites and ospreys must be very discreet to escape them. Both eat fish and of course so does the Jungle crow. The crow with the hollow pole was incredible. The way he can’t believe his voice is so big really was fascinating to me. Thank you very very much! Your autumn must be approaching. I wish you the best of luck in your daily life. Patricia.

@@Nature_Watching_Japan There was an incredible documentary which I saw several months or years ago about crows recognizing faces and when the people donned an ugly facial mask , the crows would shriek loudly, telling the other crows to beware. Perhaps you have seen it, Patricia. I found it incredible about the wisdom of crows. Joan
@Nature_Watching_Japan24 күн бұрын
@@temp24Lno5 Unfortunately I havent seen this documentary as it would not be shown in Japan. Crows never appear in nature documentaries here. But from what you describe it is just the type of reaction you could get from crows. In lots of countries they are considered as wise but Japan is the exception it seems. In fields sometimes they catch crows and hang their bodies to scare rice eating birds. I don’t believe it works and it’s such an awful thing to do. Thank you for your kind answer. I hope your autumn 🍂 will be pleasant. Very best wishes for you and yours.😊😊👋👋‼️
