Why not have a crypto thats fixed to gold. Lets say 1 crypto equals 1 oz of gold. If there is a way to have virtual zero 3rd party risk then bit coin becomes useless.

Michael Saylor rightfully complains about the system being rigged, good for wealthy property owners and suppressing workers. But the way he talks about Bitcoin being a pristine collateral property and how the current system classifies BTC as property (n subject to taxes, etc) does NOT help the worker. It may help the worker that bought in early but it doesn't fix the system. Workers will get priced out of BTC the same as they r currently priced out of real estate and other assets. It only fixes the system if BTC is THE world's money because then it gets redistributed according to the value people exchange (unless gov screw things up, which they will because people r ignorant).

I think I would rather sell my bitcoin each month as I need the cash to see me out. Who here is borrowing against their bitcoin to live, and who is selling parts of it to live month to month?

53:55 lol... I literally started howling when Saif made that counter point... Society isn't a collaboration of people working together for collective reciprocal progress, it's either a prison or a feudal farm according to Keynesians. Lol. This is it! This is basically what differentiates a bitcoiner from non coiners. This worldview.

The best performing asset in the history of the world is BITCOIN. It is by far the best store of value. 10 years from now you’ll be thankful for every dollar you put into it.. My two cents.

Regretting missing out on earlier Bitcoin investments, I kept funds in a HYSA. Now, with $200k to invest, I aim to avoid FOMO and buying at the peak. What's the best approach for a newbie to navigate the market?

I do agree, Investing has gotten difficult especially after pandemic, hence why I decided to use the expertise of an advisor, my spouse kicked against the idea initially, but oh well guess who's best buddies with our advisor now .

Can you do a video about how transaction fees will need to replace the subsidy ? After 16 years BTC is typically only generating around $200 a minute in transaction fees ($2k per block) to keep the miners and network alive without the mining subsidy which with each halving trends to zero Off-chain L2 transactions drain revenue from miners and there is a big trend towards BTC moving into ETF's and the 'never sell your Bitcoin' mentality which does nothing to support the network Increase the block size or increase the supply 🤔 Peter Todd wrote a paper about increasing BTC coin supply in 2022. most likely why 'they' announced him as Satoshi in the recent HBO Documentary IF (when) the proposal to increase BTC supply happens things could get very interesting for Bitcoin Cash or even BSV which retains the original protocol "set in stone"

I think both guys were a bit stubborn here when they were just looking at it differently. Saylor seemed a little defensive to the counter idea. Which might be because Saylor has been pushing store of value for awhile now and bitcoin doesn’t need to change everything. It’s a lot easier for the world to accept. It’s also more likely than changing everything on planet earth. So they should have talked nicer but good discussion.

All I hear is Brent saying, it’ll never work because the government won’t allow it. The idea that bitcoin will be just for storing dollar value is ridiculous.

What if you could reset bitcoin to its beginning and let everyone buy in cheap but put a cap on it where you could only buy a certain amount for the first year? what would this look like or am i just too high rightnow to see how this could play out.

If bitcoin goes to say 10 million per coin and let's say that happens in 10 years and that 10 million dollars is what it would cost you in fiat dollars and fiat is slowly going to zero then what would be the actual value of a 10 million dollar bitcoin that is based on fiat that is going to zero, help me understand, is that 10 million dollar bitcoin really going to be worth that much or will the fiat be so worthless that if you cashed out that 10 million your buying power would be nothing?

For gold, I see your point and tend to agree, but the “cost” to store Bitcoin is so minimal that I can’t imagine the risk of default on a loan ever being lower than the cost of Bitcoin storage. Combine that with time preference always being positive, and even in a very low time preference society, I think interest can get very low, but never zero.

Regarding your question what are causes of the current economic problems in Nigeria? Economist Nathan Nunn in his research paper ‘The Long-Term Effects of Africa's Slave Trades’, shows strong evidence there is a negative relationship between the number of slaves exported from a country and current economic performance.

It’s glaringly obvious that the overwhelming majority of commenters here are optimists, and while optimism can be healthy in that it drives change and innovation, it often leads people to form irrational conclusions. The one thing all of you people saying Saif won seem to forgetting is that there are two institutions in the way of the dreamy scenario he’s painted; namely governments and central banks.
