I dont get why you need a bypass valve. Just use a stop valve. The flow will continue through the other component's would it not?

Using 1.5 inch extrusion for stuff like cabinets seems like way overkill. You could have used 20 mm extrusion for like a third of the cost.

I thought about you today dude. Although we never met each other at Ball State, I always thought it was cool you had a KZbin channel and were doing Van life with your pets and girl. Still rooting for you man. Hope all is well

I’ve been following your channel from the early days of your vanbuild as I too was embarking on my own build. Now 4 years as a fulltime vanlifer I can’t imagine living any other way. You’ve provided so much value and entertainment over the years and I just wanted to say thank you and hope all is well in your life as I guess you’ve decided YT just isn’t worth the time and energy. I totally understand! I just miss seeing your faces popping up 😂 but hope your in a good place and thriving and most of all keep creating something maybe just not on YT 😝

For the bypass you could have used only one 3 way valve on one side. The fact that in a single pipe system water is loosing temperature isn't a big problem. Floor heater needs lower temperature than an air heater (matrix) or heat exchanger. If monted in the right order you then use the leftover heat from the previous component. Other advantage of a single pipe is the way water flows. As in your system everything is in parallel and you have only one pump water flow will be more important in the part of the system where you have the less mechanical resistance, most probably floor heating, sadly the one that should have the less flow. Very interesting video I had this project in mind for a while and struggled to find someone who did it and documented it! Thank you!

BTW, How hot does your hot water come out of the faucet from the heat exchanger? Do you need a tank to build temp or is it "on demand"?

I'm curious of the gas consumption to run the heater. Maybe down to say 20 degrees? I currently have an 18,000 BTU propane furnace and boy does that thing ever suck down the propane. I'm starting a new van build in the spring and would love to do a hydronic system. It doesn't look nearly as intimidating as I thought it would be. I was wondering why some other companies are charging six and $7000 for these things when they are really not that complex. I've done things like recirculating showers using heat exchangers and uv purification systems, and I don't find what you folks did in the video any more complicated. You can even buy the furnace off of Amazon, but you don't get quite as many parts, but it's also $500 cheaper. I like the fact you can pretty much do away with propane with this system (big savings just not having to buy and mount a tank), and I bet it retains the heat for a while, but I don't imagine heating up water just for a shower or something is all that time-consuming. Overall, it was a great video, and I was looking for someone to actually explain how these work. It has given me enough confidence to try it myself. Thank you!

Part of your problem is that you do not have direct contact between the floor itself and the aluminum heat tabs, you are in affect just heating the airspace between the metal floor of the van and the living space floor itself. Still much better than cold floors.

Very nice. One thing though, that's not a "type D" circuit breaker. That is a brand named "Square D" and you only use those if your particular panel is compatible.

Just commented on another video of your, 'Heat Your Feet - Heated Floor Install.' I wanted to see if you were still making videos and stumbled upon this one. All I can say, because I'm sure you're not looking for advice, is I'm a '91 baby and we just got to take this gravy train of a ride one step at a time baby.. not me, however... I broke both of my heels 1wk ago (working on my van) and, well, I'm not walking at the moment 😅. Not sure if you're a Linkin Park fan but they just released their new tour dates and there's always something to look forward to. Me? My buddy plans on getting tix. Maybe we'll get some lucky special advantages if I'm still in a wheel chair at that time. Although I would much rather be head-banging, jammin to them upright - it is what it is. Enjoy your journey ❤

As time has passed how have you both liked the heating system? I purchased a Rixen system about 5 months ago... I still feel overwhelmed at beginning to install it 😅. Ive watched this video at least 2 or 3 times in these past few months and every time I do I pick up on something I find useful/helpful so thank you for making such a thorough video!! I've mainly been nervous about cutting a hole through the floor and appropriately sealing it, with tubes and wires running through. I've heard or rubber grommets and its likely I may have to use some kind of caulk, as you have. I pride myself on not having used any kind of glue/caulk to the body to allow for things to be 100% modular (if/when I need to get at things to fix/replace). ...the only similar aubstance I've used is on the roof for AC and fan to prevent water ingress from rain. Are you satisfied with the caulking? Has anyone advised differently or do you know, with different life conversations or experiences, of reliable alternatives to caulk? Lastly, is there anything that you've learned that you would definitely change if re-done, add, or eliminate from this process? *You're videos continue to inspire ❤
