The Quest3 built in audio is great for most games but since it lacks bass it just still isn't good in something like Beat Saber. I am currently using the Vega T1 earbuds which sound great and have charging passthrough but I think I will get these. I prefer to use analog audio because of the zero latency and I won't have to be depended on charging them or using yet another app on my phone.

I did a video comparing my Quest 3 with Vive DAS vs Bobo S3 with $20 clip on ear Koss KSC75s (inspired by KZbinr Blunty). Unlike what others tell me about the Porta Pros, I find the KSC75s louder and clearer than my DAS, which really surprised me. Eventually I might try 3D printed arms for the KSC75s, but I'm happy with them clipping on my ears for now.

Have you had the chance to test and review any (good) wireless earbuds for Quest 3? I have heard latency is an issue for most regular earbuds, but some supposedly work well. I'm turning it up to 100 lately. I don't know if the fans have calmed or I just got used to it. Either way, when the battery dies and the fan shuts down, it's downright hot and uncomfortable. I'm shocked at how necessary the fan has become. But the fan sound is amplified through the headphones. I don't know if it's acoustics or something electrical, but when the headset is in idle it's noticeable through these headphones. However, as soon a game launches it's either silent or not noticeable. Which is to say it's annoying when in the Meta menus, but when playing games it's a non-issue.

If I understand correctly, developers have access to the simplified/labeled “Scene Anchors” as well as the detailed “Scene Mesh,” so the latter isn’t being discarded. However, it’s much more resource intensive to calculate collisions with complicated shapes than with simple primitives (like boxes), so some developers may rely on the former to improve performance. Meta is working on an AI room-scanning model, called “SceneScript,” which should provide a nice middle ground between the simple anchors and detailed mesh. Regarding your suggestion to limit the size of the play space that can be scanned, I suspect the appropriate limit would vary by game. For example, a very simple application may function fine in a large space, while a more complex game could quickly run out of resources. Admittedly, I’m speaking as an extreme amateur who clumsily dabbles in coding from time to time, so others may be able to offer more detailed and accurate insight.

lol you raise good points and insight as a consumer but also called me poor for having smaller house. I want AR to not be gaming focused. I want to replace walls with my email inbox, windows with weather I want to see and change the colour of my space as I feel. and most of all real time translation when I look at a sign in x language it will translate, map markers for a destination so i can follow using whatever mapping software on my phone. so far the game side has been okay for me much more immersed in the full VR games over ar but that likely is due to lack of use in the current game market but visual desktop and whatever options we have in the future would be nice even as simple as a hdmi dongle that streams the output of any device into your vr homespace so you can hang monitors in ar would be good.

I don't think AR is a gimmick as some experiences use it to wonderful effect, but like you say occlusion is an issue. Bomber drone is great, but sometimes it places enemies behind a wall, outside a room etc. The thing that bothers me though, is even if you use point cloud cloud storage, you frequently have to rescan the room as for some reason the quest dosen't seem to want to remember the room layout and defaults to a 1metre circle.
@S1MONSAYSVR
@S1MONSAYSVR 6 күн бұрын
Good to see you again! This raw mesh of the room. Although its been a while since I've played some of these MR games. I'm pretty sure it used that mesh when in Figmin XR. I could roll a ball of my couch, Albeit a low poly couch. Then it rolled behind the table. Wich occluded that 3d object. But its never perfect, and the mesh itself can shift in position. Probably why Meta is taking forever to implement augments. Some games use this hand occlusion (not like avp) but a transparent 3d model mask of a hand. Piano Vision, Toy Monsters and Pencil are games/apps that use this hand occlusion. Especially cool in toy monster imo. I really hope we get it in the UI at some point. Meta is clearly going after AVP with their v67 update. But not having eyetracking to foveate the render resolution while in the main Ui probably limits the the Quest 3's capabilities greatly.

The one thing I’m still unsure of is where to place the gunstock while your using other things. If you have it on a sling you need to first bring out the gun in VR, then you have to bring out the stock IRL, maybe you can have those overlap, but most of the time they won’t and you’ll have to do them separatley. Anyone who has used a lot of gun stucks know of a good solution to this?
@bringhurstvr
@bringhurstvr 9 күн бұрын
I'm not sure what you mean. When you don't want to hold the gun you just let it go and it hangs on the sling. When it's time to start firing again you attach the controllers back to it and you're on your way.
@beaconofwierd1883
@beaconofwierd1883 9 күн бұрын
@@bringhurstvr yeah, but that’s a separate action from what you do in VR. Say you have a rifle, then want to switch to a pistol, in VR you place the rifle on your back/hip/whereever. Then you release the gunstock and it will hang by the sling (no real problem here). Now I want to quickly switch back to my rifle, then I need to equip the rifle in VR (by holding the controler at my back/hip) but I also have to fiddle around getting the gunstock back, two separate actions to equip the rifle. I would really want a seamless gunstock, mayve foldable that’s always attached or someething like that, not really sure, but the same actions used in VR to equip the rifle should equip it IRL. Probably doesn’t exist yet, but if it does I’d really want one
@bringhurstvr
@bringhurstvr 9 күн бұрын
It doesn't quite what yet. I manage to play seamlessly without much issue. But the ForceTube combined with the ProVolver is at least more streamlined. You get the haptic feedback, and the pistol is always attached to the right controller, even when holding the rifle. Makes things more immersive, but doesn't resolve what you're referencing. You'd need some kind of a harness near your belt that magnetically grabs the rifle when you bring it down. At that point the setup would be laughably complex.
@beaconofwierd1883
@beaconofwierd1883 9 күн бұрын
@@bringhurstvr I’m thinking more outside of the box, the gunstock itself is really just dead weight, if you build a mechanism to just link the controllers while they are held inline the act of aiming in VR will ”activate” the gunstock (like a piston/arm extend from each controller to meet in the middle). Sure, more complex from an engineering standbpoint since you need sensors and motors, but from a user perspective super simple and seamless.

I see that you put a lot of info and attention to the charging docks, but as someone who doesn't want to waste or spend too much money, I feel like it's not that necessary to have...? Love the review, by the way, but I feel like kiwi would be a better idea if I want to be sure the headset will not move at all when I move my head and I still want it to be comfortable. I think the price might be a big factor in this too because the kiwi's battery headstrap (not the SCP one) is less than half the price of the BOBOVR one and with the grips, it's almost half the price of the BOBOVR one. The kiwi one is also compatible with more facial interfaces, I haven't found a facial interface that fits well with the BOBOVR S3 pro that doesn't cost too much.... I'm really interested in the S3 pro, but the price is a lot... I'm writing this as someone who doesn't have a quest 3 yet, so i don't know if kiwi might be better to start with and then maybe later upgrade to S3 pro? because I don't know yet what type of headstrap I like the most. And I don't think I will need more than 3h since I will be new to the VR experience (Might be overwhelming at first?) and because of my free time avaliable, but maybe it will be the opposite and because it's new to me, I'll want to use it more...? Thanks for anyone that red this, I'm still hesitating with the kiwi or bobo to start my VR experience...

I can tell you why the Factory reset worked for him that time. He most likely had all of his devices in his room turned off. The oculus 3 headsets are extremely sensitive to electromagnetic frequencies, radio waves IR light, Broadband frequencies as in your router, so before you do a factory reset. Make sure you're away from all other devices or better yet cover your headset in aluminum foil then do a factory reset. Thank me later. I'm not joking when I say these headsets are sensitive to outside influences. Maybe ghost hunters should start using them.

Meta didn't "overcomplicate" things when it came to the controller batteries. They have a inductive charger with a high capacity. This allows them to be used with third party strap covers and wraps. Meta's issue though is they sell everything at a stupidly high markup, probably to make up for the fact that they are selling the HMD's at cost. The one and only thing that this charger did right was actually use the damn fast charge pogo pins on the front of the headset, something that every other third party seems to completely ignore.

Why do people waste time their audience time by padding their info videos with these dumb intro clips with annoying music? Do most people actually enjoy watching these and i'm the minority that think it's a waste of time?

We're just so invested in wasting people's time. You're just lucky I didn't do the scrolling Star Wars thing. These bastards don't know how good they've got it.

Upgrade the bolts with M5x20mm thumb screws and you can REALLY adjust it fully with the headset on. Pro tip
