Great video, thank you, I learnt a lot there. Is there any precautions you can take to ensure the correct installation of the pulley? Cheers

What size socket or spanner is needed for the pinion gear nut/main shaft nut?" The other side was 1 1/8th, just curious the larger side? Thank You

Is the slot depth critical for the sensor? I'm just starting to look into trigger wheels as I need one for my Triumph Vitesse 6 cylinder and I like the idea of using the existing pulley.

I’ve got around 5 thou endfloat on a new one 5 thou on both outer and inner measurements Slow on pick up, pick up pipe is working fine so I’m suspecting oil pump - I advise anyone regardless of engine to check everything you unbox these days - stuff I’ve seen if very poor

Ya would have thought by now, after almost 10Million of the burgers being built and rebuilt that the restorers would have figured out by now that the engines ALWAYS came in from the bottom. ie. the engine was already in the subframe, bolted up and ready to go, Any other way is just making a nightmare for yourself. Putting them in through the 'hole' was only ever a cheap arse way of doing it, because we couldn't afford all the right gear to do it the right way. The paint gets scratched 'ta buggery'. Inevitably the 'shut panel' gets damaged, and it's all a nightmare and a 'shit fight' in the end. Those subframes were made to house the entire drive unit and simply come up from beneath. Or more correctly, the light-arse body was dropped in over the top., which is the way I rebuilt my last three mini's in the end. Just an over head hoist, a wooden jig the hold the car by the roof. And simply drop the monocoque over the top of the two subframes. BTW> You didn't even bother to paint, or wrap the exhaust, when you had the chance.

What brake master pimp are you using?🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

I’m having an issue at the moment with an engine - priming the pump, getting 75 psi once primed with plugs out but then over night it looses prime - takes around 30 seconds to bring it back Putting it down to relief valve leaking maybe or slight weep from oil pump at bottom but that could be just oil from the hole at bottom of pump. Strange O ring between box and pick up is fine

Amazing, i would like to know the tools you used to measure the line bore? Please, also is there other way around like a telescopic gauge and then a micrometer?

I used to work for Mr clutch & remember changing the clutches on both Mini's & Mini Metro's. We would take the whole engine out as part of the clutch job as we would replace the bronze bushing on the reverse idle gear whilst the flywheel was being reground which in my opinion was completely unnecessary on 99% of vehicles that came into Mr Clutch. It was an up sale which my manager would always convince the customer to have done at an extra cost of £25. .

Out of interest, why do you not use a Duplex timing chain ? and why not a centre main strap ? Also, did you use a special cam lube for the bearings or just engine oil ?

If these are fully floating, would you not have been inclined to rebush the small end to eliminate any machining angle inaccuracies? I’d also like to have attempted to measure if the big end is honed square in the rod.

Do you only have to do one side or both . If one side doesn’t it make the steering wheel look out of true.

Just a thought on the faffy pin on the shaft. When the ring is of the shaft out the way, paint, or score a line up the shaft in line with the hole/pin so when its all going back together, you have a good idea of where the pin is sitting. Does that make sense? I'm not really a gearbox person, but I was looking to rebuild an F13 dog box and was looking for vids, but not a lot out there. Like your work though, a good insight as what to look for, thanks.

I'm having terrible problems with brake judder in my mini. Been through 4 sets of discs and pads in no time. I've changed my calipers, flexi hoses, wheel bearings. I'm just wondering if the discs I'm buying from the usual mini suppliers are poor quality. Just seen brembo make them so might give them a go. Any other suggestions what might be causing my issue? I don't drive like a nutter by the way!

Back in the 1970s got involved with clubman style car powered by a 1310 cooper s motor. Held lap record around most circuits in Australia for about 5yrs after it was retired. Had head gasket issues which no one could cure & put down to very high compression. I did few experiments & finally fixed it by countersinking the head stud holes in the block. Have noticed some manufacturers stop the threads about 5 to 8 mm down from the block face, which I'm guessing achieves the same thing. For the past 55yrs I have countersunk all threaded holes in everything & deleted gaskets in favour of loctite. Solved many oil leaks. Some of us old farts have learnt a thing or two. 😂
