Make sure you use treated timber if you replace the raised garden beds then line on the inside with plastic to prevent leaching of treatment chemicals.

Awesome! I live in southern Wisconsin. I want to do this to our 3 acres. I still have 4 acres to mow, for now! I just bought all the same seeds you did and can't wait! Thinking December ish to sow the seeds on top of snow or frozen ground.

My biggest concern is that more satellites are going up, so costs will go up but also the cable/fiber providers are expanding to cover more ground because they want your business. The user base for Starlink will go down and the per user price will have to go up to balance the cost of satellite infrastructure. A friend of mine who lives in a pretty Rurual area recently (a few years ago) had those 5G boxes put up on their utility poles which not only brought 5G to her area, but around the same time she was able to get a fiber line run to her house. I'm not sure if the fiber runs from the 5G infrastructure or the other way around. Maybe Starlink will still appeal to the truckers who often take their breaks out in the middle of nowhere off the side of the highway. Wired services will never be able to provide for them unless 5G nodes get posted along every major highway in the country.

When it comes to the pear tree 🌳, keep both, root the branch you want to cut, then cut it once it has roots, it's not that hard to do, watch a couple of KZbin videos and learn a new skill, I'm about to do this with a star fruit tree.
@CypressSparrowHomestead26 күн бұрын
We are going to try this! It would be great if we can salvage the off shot because its grown so large. Good luck with your star fruit tree!

@williamturkovich3977Ай бұрын
it looks like the offshoot is coming from the rootstock of the tree and not the top part. I'd check down if it's coming from below the graft point before making a decision.

If you like berries, buy a blackberry and raspberry plant. You can propagate as many plants as you can hold with one plant. They are full of calories, tasty, and good for you. My 2 cents

Deer hunt. The hell with the tree huggers who say,”don’t hurt the pretty deer.” These are the people who think hamburgers are made at McDonalds…….When McDonald’s is shutdown, grocery stores are empty, gas stations are closed, and banks have collapsed, these will be the first people to come looking for deer meat…..Don’t worry about comments, do what’s best for your family.

Rigid from Home Depot are great tools. Their 18v rechargeable system has everything you could want and the batteries are fully interchangeable. Best of all, if you register them, they have lifetime replacement warranty, including the batteries. I’ve already had three batteries replaced (out of about eight over ten years.) Replacement batteries can save you a lot in the long run.

There is a healing in working with your hands to make a life for yourself. And it isn’t one that everyone is made for. It one our grandparents(yes grandparents, so not that far back), had and it should be uplifted more as a valuable way to live life. I hope to have land some day and someone to share in the simple joys of homesteading. -former FFA teenager.

Rhubarb Cake, Pie, Jam, it can be made into a sauce, it is also great for tea or tinctures. You can place the leaf back down onto the soil to keep pest away because they are toxic to them but not your plants. Enjoy!

Always nice to find a fellow northern gardener/homesteader. I've always had struggles with Bell Peppers in Minnesota. This year I'm removing flowers and trying to get big plants before I let them fruit. We'll see if that improves things.
@CypressSparrowHomesteadАй бұрын
I think we may give that a try on some of our peppers too! We seemed to be able to grow them but they are always pretty small. I could see this helping, thanks for the tip!

Tips for northern peppers use cottonseed meal for fertilizer. Grow through landscape fabric for small varieties top the plants to cause them to bush out. Pick flowers off till mid june. Good luck John S.
