It feels like a warm up and stretching are even more important to you with the extra range of movement you go for?
@HybridGym9 сағат бұрын
I generally do about five minutes, but I do also usually warm up throughout the day before I do the afternoon session, movement here and there and stretching etc, so before the main workout I can just make sure I'm feeling ok to try the moves, then the moves themselves are quite therapeutic, back bridges are meant to be good for the spine, cartwheels are a good side stretch, low resting squats, it's quite restorative compared to burpees really I'd have to say. I did two sprints at the weekend and temporarily pulled an inner leg muscle, limped back to the car, but it was fine the next day. That was without a warmup, just messing around, but showed me it's a bit risky to try and run fast cold
@duncanwalshfitnessweightlo932918 сағат бұрын
Interesting movement. Tough?
@HybridGym9 сағат бұрын
It's surprisingly not tough the way I'm currently doing it, which is to say not very well. To control it better I'm going to have to get more consistent with the balance and elbow placement. It should ideally be smooth and controlled, and I'm currently jerky and can't control it, but it's early days! It's going better than hoped so far

Back to back ground flows! How’s the sprint training going?
@HybridGymКүн бұрын
Hey just watched your muscles ups a few times, well done! You're really gonna progress a lot on rings flow now if you want to! I didn't have quite as much tme as I'd like for optimal sprint training, I'm not resting enough between sets, but it feels like ots doing something! Its feel good training and meant to have a good hormonal boost too
@JimperialКүн бұрын
@ hey thanks! Gotta try some of the forward rolls on rings and see if I like it 😅. The sprinting here definitely looks fast! And yeah, I gotta imagine sprinting has a lot of positive effects on the body, including hormonal boosts.
@HybridGymКүн бұрын
I think sprint training is a good substitute for having a legs day too, I'm not intending to do anything in a gym, with weights, and I like the idea of being fast and dynamic, so it's a good fit for me I'd say 👍 with your set up though, hot humid climate, office job sometimes, and no injuries, I can see why sandbag and gym might suit you better. I think yes, you can start the ring roll right now ! The lack of confidence might mean you bail it, I probably did the first few times, but it really is a matter of just pulling as you roll over, trying not to roll too fast, legs a bit extended, and you'll probably get it straight away! The feeling of doing a muscle up to roll, to ... Etc... etc.... is very liberating. I'd say the MU is a technically harder move to complete, and probably a little more effort too
@JimperialКүн бұрын
@@HybridGym sprinting definitely builds the legs! Along with athleticism and cardio gains, it’s a no brainer. Now that I think about it, I should probably do it too! Haha. I did try forward roll 1 time and I got scared and bailed out immediately 😅😂
@HybridGymКүн бұрын
I advise you watch 'forward rolls and what can go wrong '😉🙃🫢 seriously, I get that, it's such an odd thing to do up in the air! But honestly, if I can do it, you can do it absolutely 100% no doubt, its honestly no harder than a pull-up, think of it as a pull-up rotation, but in one way it's easier, you're holding the pull-up half way up, and the rotation momentum helps you more than a MU does in getting back to the low support hold position. But also allowing the rings to rotate 360 laterally is also a bit odd too, just allow it to happen. Thinking about it, a forward roll for me is about half the effort, I can do about 8 in a row or more, MU's get ragged after 2/3 and 4/5 would be an all out best at the moment with a lot of leg swing assistance

Hey, I don't know anyone in my areas who teaches either! I'm picking it up as I go along pretty much from KZbin. I have been interested in these flows for many years, maybe over 15, but never did much about it till recently. Over the years I mainly worked on conditioning drills, so wall hspu, bridge pushups, pushups, pull-ups, I also went to yoga classes around 20 years ago, and also martial arts classes for many years, but around three years ago I decided to really go for it with rings, then with ground flowing. My training was a bit vague, but now I recently read a book on how to better train, generally for anything, and I'm trying to apply those principles and I think I'm improving faster now, with structure and focus

It's a move where you balance on the elbow tucked into the side, the Portuguese 'fall of the kidneys' is referring to the placement of the elbow on the kidney, it's kind of into the hip/ribs, it's awkward, but the progressions and flows from it look amazing. @ glad to be of service😅. Yeah slow concentrics are just next level! I’ve seen some do a single muscle up rep for a minute! Talk about slow and controlled
@HybridGym6 күн бұрын
Yeah it really feels nice to get a slower smooth rep rather than a fast one, I'll take fast ones, they are 95% of what I do, but a slow one is another beast 😅 I'm not sure though how slow they can get the actual transition, it's a lot of effort for smaller muscles to rotate a slow transition! I notice even olympic gymnastics do most stuff fast, but wonder how slow they could go. They do have a better body proportion for it though as well

There is quite a lot of strength orientated work here. Do you still find consecutive days works fine with that?
@HybridGym6 күн бұрын
Thanks D, usually yes consecutive is fine, but this time not so much, qdrs two days in a row was too much, yesterdays were lower volume and poorer quality, until/if I improve them they'll have to be low volume or non-consecutive. But, if I'm to gain skills I have to have a certain volume or fail, I believe. Cartwheels seem so low impact daily is fine, rings the limitation is wrists on false grip, but I should work levers on too on the 'off days' but usually don't get the time. What I normally do is have a legs focus day, upper body focus day, not exclusive but generally focused, but I usually don't film legs so much
