Sooooo close to what I was looking for! I have a complex edit (15 tracks) in one timeline, and want to overlay it on the main timeline so it plays together. Any way to create that, or do I have to either render or copy that entire section timeline into the main?

Thanks for thé video.. do you know if somekeys can be assigned , i mean customized, to accomplish some tasks i would chose ? Or if Keys Can not be changed . For instance the numeric keys are useless for me but could be usefull it in the color page..

Yes you should be able to customise the keyboard in the Keyboard Customisation window within Resolve. I've seen a lot of people use this for Printer Lights in the Colour Page. Does that help? Thanks for the question.

you literally helped me saving like 2000€.... haha I am writing a short film and wanna shot some on anamorphic...but my film is low to micro budget... With your no letter boxing trick, I will just shoot my shots pulled back a bit, and get my wide angle anamorphic feeling scenes.... Awesome!

Hey Alex, great video again, professional and straight to the point as usual, thank you for that 👌 My favourite method for transmission is "Export Project Archive" and just use 'Proxy Media' in order to save file size on the target Notebook. I am using current DR 19.1.1 on both my home PC plus notebook and everything works fine except Audio: The 'restored *.dra Projects' on the Notebook remain silent, no Audio signals in the timelines. A workaround I could find: Relink the videos in all BINs by using the 'relink Proxy Media' command in the imported project, which is a bit complicated 😁 In my oppinion its a bug in DR.

Thank you so much. Really appreciate you checking it out. That definitely sounds like a bug to me. Not come across it myself. Now that 19.1.2 is out, has that helped? If I can recreate the problem I'll look into it further for you.

In DaVinci Resolve 19 pressing "n" disables the snapping tool but it doesn't avoid snapping, it's like the feature is not functioning anymore.

Hi Alex, I am following your YT channel. You deserve more followers and likes, you share knowledge and the skills required. Other channels just show how to do, However you are teaching us why to do it also. Can i request you to please share the raw clips, audio which you use in your lesson so that we can also practice with it and get confidence.

Thank you so much for your very kind comment and apologies for my slow response. That's certainly my aim as I think learning the why behind any action or technique is the key to becoming a better editor or colourist. 👍🏻 I have plans this year to do a lot more and some of that will be sharing some raw footage that I'm using in my videos when appropriate so people can follow along and then also in my online courses (when they get updated) you'll get footage to download. It'll be only for private practice and not resale or commercial use of course but hopefully it'll help when you're practicing and following along. 😊 All the best

should timeline correspond exactly to the video clip? Like 4K 60 fps and not 30 or 25 fps?

Fantastic! one more thing though. What if i want the music to hit after an interview, preferably with a nice transition. so for instance if the intro is over and the titel music sould kick in for the Filmtitle in full spectrum. do i have to split the clip or use an adjustment layer... s.t. like that 🤔

Ive encountered an issue and would love if someone could give me a hand. I was in the cut page source tape, selecting the portions of my clips that i wanted to use from my bins, when all of a sudden all the clips on my timeline went offline... but nothing in my media pool was offline. It looks like davinci renamed my clips to "76 Clips - 'Bin Name' " everytime i pulled them onto my timeline from the source tape.. so now i cant relink them

dose that studio license is life time, i was palnning to but the sutdio license, but frnd told to buy a keyboard will get the license free
@AlexCameron-Depiqd
@AlexCameron-Depiqd 5 күн бұрын
Yes currently the licence is a lifetime one. So buy it once and you'll be able to update for free. Most hardware that is Resolve related does come with Studio included so it's worth checking which ones. The Editor Keyboard is one of those!

I’m new to DaVinci Resolve and came from Premiere Pro. In Premiere, when you open a project from its location (even on another PC), it opens automatically without needing to save it as a new project. However, in DaVinci Resolve, I noticed that if the project already exists in the Project Manager with the same name as the file I opened in Finder, it asks me to create a new project copy instead of updating or opening it directly. Is there a setting I need to toggle to avoid this, or is this just how DaVinci Resolve works?

If you choose to use a compressor instead of key framing the audio, which do you recommend to be first in the order, EQ then compression or compression then EQ?

Hey man, great tutorial! Is there a way to split the clip and automatically remove the gap when working on multiple tracks? For some reason, it doesn’t seem to work the same way as it does on a single track. Thanks!

I wasn’t aware of this. Really found it useful so thanks for presenting it. My only question is, what about the fact that you’re going to have this dip in frequency throughout the entire music clip when you would want to it play naturally and louder for any extended period of time in between voiceovers?

Thank you for the informative video. May I suggest in the future you show off method 3 which is what you showed in the hook, first. Do the pro tip. As these are what people came into the video wanted to see. The method 1 and 2 can be put at the end to show different ways but not before you get to the 'meat' of the video

Can I export project with archive but only pieces of media that are used on timeline? That would make project so much smaller after initial editing.

The main problem that is holding me back is the price. Especially the inclusion of a "free" license. I was using Adobe and decided to move away to Davinci Resolve. At that time I did of course not know how much I would like Davinci Resolve but I did know that I needed the studio version. That is now 2 months ago. Now I would like to have the Editor Keyboard but that would mean I am confronted with the fact that I just wasted €300. €360 for a keyboard is still a very high price but €660 is really over the top. It just feels so wrong to waste such an amount of money.

I'm new to DaVinci and I' seemed to have come across something that doesn't have a direct answer when I search it: I imported an MKV that initially had 3 Audio Tracks- music, dialogue/sfx, and a commentary track. Davinci merged the dialogue & commentary tracks into one, and now I can't turn off the commentary without turning off all dialogue. They use both L/R speakers, so turning off one speaker doesn't seem to work. Is there a way to re-import the file while keeping all 3 tracks intact?

Freeze frame in DR is terrible. There should be a whole function where it would decelerate the previous N frames\ms (Optic flow, like a slow-mo), then show the freezed frame as a still image clip or markings, then an accelerated flow to the remaining of the clip or next clip. In other words a freeze frame should be sort of a 'transition'. Very intuitive and great.
