is 7.2 ounces short on refrigerant enough to cause the FS head units to run for several hours and then all stop operating and flash single green light until powering each FS unit off and then back on? Once power cycled they run again for several hours before doing the same thing. The system is an MXZ 48k Hyperheat, 5 port PAC Branch Box, 2- FS15's, 1- FS12, 2 FS06's, 209.2' total pipe length. DSB called for 8.69 LB of additional refrigerant, only 8.24 went in (7.2 ounces short)

@@ductlessplushvac Thank you for your quick response! @@ductlessplushvac Added the 7.2 ounces of refrigerant to the capacity required according to DSB. I remeasured all of the line set runs to make sure what was entered into DSB was correct, and it was. I double checked all of the wiring from the branch box to the head units to make sure that terminals are matched at both locations, and did this for the comm cable to the condenser, with the 16 shielded cable being grounded at only one end. The condenser, and the branch box are powered separately and are each receiving 247V's. All head units are powered on and run for several hours then stop running and blink green. Anything else I should be looking at?

@@ductlessplushvac I disconnected each head one at a time until the symptom stopped. Ran a new cable to the problem unit from the branch box, problem went away reconnected the old cable it immediately returned. I find it really odd that it’s not considered permissible to run over the total BTUs of the outdoor unit. The indoor units should never all be running at 100% output, unless you’re turning the system on for the very first time in a hot or cold house. I like to size the outdoor unit one step below what the indoor unit totals are to allow for an even smaller minimum output on the condenser, so my 6k and 9k indoor heads have a chance of actually modulating down. Greater modulation to the 1000-3000BTU range is so much more comfortable than a 6k bedroom unit cycling at 5 or 6000BTU all day and night. Maintaining room temp shouldn’t need 80-100% of a head’s output
@ductlessplushvac
@ductlessplushvac 3 ай бұрын
All VRF units work like that. They never will ramp up to 100% capacity unless the load requires it. The altitude capacity changes in Colorado in the Denver area it's about 17-20% on average depending on elevation right out of the box so a 9k is more like a 6500k a 6k is more like a 4500k That's why you don't want to oversize the (2) indoor and outdoor units due to the De-rating drop.
