these videos feel a lot less impactful or beautiful when you read the text and realize they didnt just happen to die but the light that lets us see them kills them. we are not just witnesses to some universal symbolic struggle but in fact we viewers are the people that killed this thing for spectacle and cheap sentimentalism, giving ourselves a pat on the shoulder for our amazing capacity for empathy.
