Should i get this or Infinity pedal? The case is i dont necessarialy need an amp...

Would it make more sense to get this pedal or Exponent 500? I know its not the same use, but thinking what will keep me rolling for a longer time😊
@Paajanenae
@Paajanenae 4 күн бұрын
Depends entirely on your needs! If need any modulation effects like phaser, chorus or flanger or an envelope filter, then the Exponent is probably the way to go. For good baseline distortion tones this is much easier.
@klapaucius4564
@klapaucius4564 4 күн бұрын
@@Paajanenae yea the infinity feels slightly even more expanded and powerful tbh! Exponent is cool because its an amp. On the other hand, in most places i dont really need to drag my amp in, hence on the fence (hah rhymes)
@Paajanenae
@Paajanenae 4 күн бұрын
@@klapaucius4564 Then again if you really need an amp you can get the Infinity and a small 200w head (or even two lol) for the price of one Exponent.

So... with Dingwall taking specific scale strings, what kind of strings are you using for this Drop C tuning here? (Brand and gauges). And did nut / bridge need any modification? Strings is the only thing that stops me from saving up for one haha.
@Paajanenae
@Paajanenae 4 күн бұрын
DR Strings fit the 4-string Dingwalls, I think I was using the 50-110 Lo-Rider set here. Finding strings for 4-string Dingwalls isn't that hard since most brands with extra-long strings fit, but 5-string Dingwalls are a bit more difficult. I've recently started ordering my Dingwall Strings from Newtone Strings in UK which are relatively affordable and fully customizable

Question. How do you make sure your strings are in tune when tuned that low? My tuners have a difficult time picking up such low notes. Especially on the thickest string
@Paajanenae
@Paajanenae 6 күн бұрын
All the other strings are pretty easy, but the lowest string is a bit of a hassle. Sometimes I tune it by the 12th fret harmonic and leave it a bit flat since my strings are so loose it raises a bit in pitch when I hit it. Sometimes I fine tune that by playing octaves between the lowest string and a higher string and letting them ring and seeing if there's any wavering in pitch. Live I can feel that the string action doesn't feel right and that's a good indication that the lowest string has gone down in pitch since I tuned it.

I have a rockbass semi-hollow body. Thank you for your video. I'm disappointed when players make an issue of basses and guitars made in China, since high-end companies such as Dingwall and Warwick make products in China, and the instruments are excellent. We need to "feel" with our hands and "listen" with our ears. "Looking" at place manufactured is pointless. My only complaint with Warwick is: to get comfortable action, I have to put up with fret buzz. So I raise the action a little to avoid the buzz, but comfort suffers.

@@Paajanenae Without the power supply, it would be around 100€ due taxes and importation... The one Im looking forward, that allows me to place 9 pedals without power supply, just the metal board is 200€, with power supply the cheapest grows to 800€ or more, last week I say. For I love to use the pedalboard config to see which one to get and how to place my pedal chain, because Im using parallel instead of serial chain through EH Triparallel.

Thanks for responding to my last comment about the fret buzz thing. I have one more question. With everything you said that you do (keeping the neck straight, raising action, etc) do you think you could tune as low as drop E and get that same clean results using the standard strings?

Do you get a lot of fret buzz when tuned that low? I’m modifying my D-roc to fit .150 gauge to (hopefully) play in drop F and E. Hoping that I don’t have to go any thicker
@Paajanenae
@Paajanenae 23 күн бұрын
Not really! I always make sure to setup the neck almost straight with a bit of relief and then raise the action until I get rid of frets choking the sustain. Since the strings are so loose, having a higher action doesn't make them any worse to play.

I agree with everything you said I’ve been running it through the sans amp bass driver I know weird just messing around and I found the DI out on the bass driver really changed the sound for the better. It was crazy. My only concern now is I have not been able to try it out in a band situation. It sounds great by itself, but I’m not sure it’s gonna cut in the mix live. It’s not giving me the mids that I’m used to.
