7:50 "In Japan when we study this, we call it the Boson Tea Party." Yes, because that is what it IS called. And calling it a "party" is meant to be sort of sarcastic. I realize that there are cultural differences between us. But you have to understand American, and British, uses of sarcastic language sometimes. Peace.

there is a difference with wok and pan. wok fries rice better and give it a slight crip texture and chard smell. while the pan doesn't it depens on the availability thought. next gordon had to change woks cause he burnt the eggs when using a wok you need constant steer and more oil so that nothing sticks. and his woks are not seasoned.

As an American, 130,000 isn’t just numbers. It’s someone’s life filled with plans for their future,I know what you meant though. WW I & II is the embodiment of insanity. I describe it as Humanity attempts to swallow itself whole. Whether the atomic bomb is just,I quit guessing. The fact events escalated to that point is incomprehensible.

I know I'm late to the party here, but an authentic Japanese chef not even having heard of instant or "packet" rice is the best part of this video 😂. It's much easier to prepare for sure, but all of the flavor is gone, the texture is awful, and it's still somehow less healthy than proper rice. I legitimately wouldn't even feed it to my dog.

21:00 It wasn't the only way to end the war, but I think it was the right way. The US's plan B in case the nukes didn't force a surrender was a full scale ground invasion of the Home Islands, and they knew that such an operation would result in the near total eradication of the Japanese people, because they fully expected them to fight to the last man. The US military awards a medal called the Purple Heart to soldiers who are wounded in combat, and they minted 500,000 of them in preparation for the invasion of Japan. That is so many that we haven't had to make any more since. In fact, we still have around 100,000 of them left. We expected to suffer more casualties in the invasion of Japan than we've sustained in all of the wars since combined. And the people who came up with that plan didn't know about the Manhattan Project. They thought that invasion was plan A. That was their best idea to end the war as quickly and with as little loss of life as possible. What's more, casualties would probably have been even higher because Japan's entire defensive strategy hinged on anticipating where the US would land their troops, and recently declassified documents indicate that they had perfectly guessed those locations. Had Japan not surrendered after Nagasaki, we would have been forced to engage in a brutal ground war from the southern tip of the Home Islands to the northern, and we likely would have had to kill nearly every male of fighting age in the country. The nukes were bad. But the alternative was worse.

7:00 That makes a lot of sense, and it's something that doesn't often come up in western history classes. As always, history is written by the victor. But the account of the vanquished still has merit, and should be heeded.

6:00 Speaking as an American, I agree. I don't think that Imperial Japan was motivated by any specific idea of superiority, but rather by a general, and importantly naive understanding of the idea. I don't think than Imperial Japan was malevolent out of any more than its own ignorance of how outclassed it really was by the US. And thousands of tons of suffering could have been avoided if the Japanese government had simply recognized this fact sooner. I sincerely wish we hadn't had to drop the nukes. But on another hand, I'm glad that we did, just because the alternative was wiping out the Japanese race, every man, woman, and child, and nobody wanted that. We've always wanted the kind of peaceful and mutually beneficial relationship that we've had since the end of the war. It just saddens us that we had to kill so many people to make it happen, in such a shocking and callous manner.

Wait, I think I know what you're talking about. In the Western part of the United States of America, there's also supposed to be a very rare but powerful earthquake. For us, this is known as the Cascade Earthquake. So, in the future, I think that Japan and the U.S. will have to face the same earthquake in the Pacific Ocean.

I dont think putting "jam" in his egg fried rice is bad but only if it works since there isnt one type of egg fried rice. I think ppl that dislikes him putting jam in his egg fried rice are just narrow minded. As for him adding more water and such, i wont defend that.
