You should make a video covering the selector valve and how to delete it, I want to get rid of mine but I’m unsure what to do about the fuel gauge? I read online that the orange wire is for the gauge and you can just jump it to the sending unit on whatever tank you want to use but I would like some more knowledgeable advice before I start cutting into random wires on my truck

I was sitting in the truck last night getting ready to leave a job she fired off perfectly and we just purring like a kitten like she always does and then all the sudden I heard a noise and the idol petered out on me. I tried to restart it but nothing happened. I thought because I was sitting on a hill maybe I wasn't getting fuel. I want to put fuel in and the filler neck was overflowing no fuel would go in the tank. I sprayed some ether in the plenum and it would not fire either. This evening I went to start it again and it acted like it wanted to fire off but a little fireball came out and a pop from the plenum. When I hit the Schrader valve on the fuel pump I just get a tiny little hiss no fuel though. I haven't undone the fuel lines from the injectors yet.

I just finished up installing a new Aluminum for a 89 F-250 on my 86 F-250 6.9 Diesel. There are a lot of write up on the Forums how to do this, saved every one I came across on a folder for quick reference. I kept the 86 Booster, but the 2 Studs are a little bit wider than the 2 holes on the MC. I just widened out each hole enough till it fit. This way I figured it would keep it centered with the Booster Rod. I did need to adjust the length of the Booster rod, there is a neat little "H" shaped tool for the adjustment. I did need to make new brake lines, as mine where they connect into the P-Valve were pretty rusted. I bought some of the Copper/Nickle Brake line, easy to bend and do the double flare. The newer MC has an adapter on the rear port, kind of a valve. You do not need the valve for the 86 and older trucks. Take it apart and gut it and screw it back together. I got several at PNP, as the new MC did not come with one. I could not get mine to not leak where the 2 halves screw together, so just Tig welded it together. Old valve with old "O"Ring, and it is a special Ford Ring. Be sure to remove ring before welding, and screw in a brake line fitting so the threads are protected. You will need to change the fittings on the brake lines to the MC, different sizes. I also cut off a bunch of those at PNP. The new MC works great, and really cleans it up over the 10LB rusty old MC. The 86 and older trucks use a Proportioning Valve, on the frame below the MC. Newer trucks use a Rabs Valve (as I have read) that needs the adapter valve that I gutted.

@@groundtogreen1140 I figured that. They are quite helpful and informative. Im mapping out a turbo build on mine, im going to alter a powerstroke y pipe to send both exhaust manifolds into the y. The problem is fitment. When I finally break ground on it Im going to document it. Ill be sure to share it with you. I am greatful for the vids. I had air coming in, never took notice to the return line on my filter housing. Deleted it and haven't had a problem since.

Thank you for posting this! My uncle ALWAYS rocked these Diesel trucks in the 80's & 90's. 2000's, he went to the newer ones BUT I remember how cool the 1st gen series was. I'm trying to learn all I can about them because I've just purchased my 1st Diesel which is also my 1st 4x4. Is 1987 still considered part of the "1st gen" series...???

Hey man so I've got fuel ip is working I've got air my truck is having problems with white smoke if I bleed the fuel lines it fires right up runs right then out of nowhere it blows white smoke then dies if I hit the gas pedal it may or may not respond if I hit it lightly it moves if I hit it hard it putts then out of nowhere gets a lot of power then back to nothing

If it's air which it sounds like you're gonna have to troubleshoot the problem points. Olive seals on fuel flare nut lines and the return system are imo the majority of common issues

Question i have regarding the 6.9idi is mine ran and drove last year then it just stalled out while idling. Never would hot again since, it has a new lift pump, new starter, new injectors, new lines, new glow plugs. New batteries as well i can even get er to hit off either and im not getting any fuel delivery at all. Bled it out i was told to bypass the lift pump with an electric one by a neighbor mechanic. Ima try that but she wont even hit off either. Any ideas on that one bc she was a good runner and quit without warning it has no air in the system either

I’m doin a left hand turbo mount on my 6.9 idi. As the turbo won’t fit in the valley with the vehicle I have it in. Where can I run my oil drain pipe to? Or can I still run into the old CDR hole like turbo idi’s, or will this create to much pressure on the return side?
@groundtogreen1140
@groundtogreen1140 Жыл бұрын
You can use the hole where the cdr was but you'll want a cc vent somewhere to avoid building pressures. Most choose the inspection cover hole in front of the pump timing cover

What’s the point of relocating the glow plug controller? What if I add a turbo into the 89 with the basic flex plate and flywheel?
@groundtogreen1140
@groundtogreen1140 Жыл бұрын
Factory location could interfere with turbo installation and to get it away from the heat produced by the turbo and the flexplate only matters with factory turbo blocks

Hope you can help me. I have a 1994 7.3 IDI f250 been trying to solve this problem for over a year. Originally the truck ran fine but in time it would stall out all the time. Having to restart in the middle of an intersection was a bitch. After seeing numerous videos (me a complete layman) I checked for air intrusion. My fuel filter would be only 1/2 full when I would remove and inspect it. I removed the fuel heater plug on the filter and saw it needed a new O ring. That seemed to help, but still had problems. I replaced the fuel lines under the hood to trace air bubbles in the lines. There were air bubbles. I replaced the lift pump but that didn't help. So I decided to remove the fuel source from the tanks to the lift pump and mounted a canister to the front of the truck and put a fuel source directly from the canister to the lift pump cutting the tank sources off. It then ran great again even under a load, so it seems the problem is somewhere beyond the lift pump leading back to the tanks. I don't seem to have any problem with switching the front to the rear, but now I'm stumped. got any good advice? I sure do need some. Thanks in advance.

So I had a similar troubleshooting issue when I first got my older 85. Because there's so many variables like rub points, bad seals, and more I replaced the entire feed line on my 94 f250 that you've seen in my most recent videos. I wanted to do a sump kit but I never got around to it. I did hose clamp high quality diesel safe rubber line from my tank all the way to my electric lift pump and added insulators on wherever I routed it there was a potential rub point. I also capped off my return line port on the filter housing that goes to the injector caps. It's been a few years now without issues. I don't daily drive the truck anymore but when I do she don't skip a beat
