Hi Summer! Thank for this! Very nice you're bringing more videos out, these days! Which mace you are using here? I am curious cause of the lengths. Could not find so far. Thank you a lot & wish you a wonderful weekend ☀️

Hi Stefanie, yes lots of videos coming out to compliment our 100 Hour Teacher Training curriculum. I use Onnit Steel Mace 7lb in my program Steel Mace Vinyasa. Here is a link with all equipment we use at Flow Shala: www.flowshala.com/equipment

Summer this is another excellent instructional video - thank you. To perform a shield cast and then progress to a 360, is that “swishy” move behind the head on the shield cast necessary, or can it be a linear move in and out? To accomplish the “Swiss” behind the head, does one need to allow for looseness in the grip rather than muscular tension, like in a golf swing, to accomplish the looping movement?

Hey Michael, great question. In a stucatto style shield cast, or "slow grind" you are maintaining torque and leverage on the tool, and there is no centrifical force, therefore no swing. After you master the grind mechanics, and have mobility to perform it safely (i.e. with full shoulder flexion and no discomfort) the next progression is to perform it dynamically where you relax the grip a bit on the downswing, and emphasize the eccentric load (vs concentric load). I know this is a lot to think about, but we break this down in every Flow Shala class and in our 100 hour Teacher Training as well. Hope this helps!

Hi Sam! I'd highly recommend the RAD All in One Kit, available at www.radroller.com // use my code Summer15 for 15% Off. We have mobility classes and coaching at www.flowshala.com, Megan's Mindful Mechanics class on Mondays 10am would be a great start and also any of our steel mace vinyasa classes can help you develop a program to address this. Send us a message via contact and we can set up a call with you to discuss your specific needs.
