Now why would you see a young girl wrapped in newspaper and bound without stopping to help? I hope the lady was lying because if she passed her by she's a coward.

I keep hearing people say "it was a different time" when referring to letting children go out unaccompanied... or even keeping doors unlocked, or of the like. It's not that it was any safer back then... we just didn't have access to the world around us back then like we do now. We're just aware of it now.

I completely understand that, I grew up in Chicago, we ran around until the lights came on and that was our indication to go in, if we didn't show up then and our parents found us, this was back in the day when they take a belt to your hind end, so we obeyed.... LOL.

My dad grew up in one side of the tracks, my mom on the other (they're boomers). My dad told my mother one time, after she said something about things "not being like they used to"... "sure they are, you just lived a sheltered life."

I have said the same. Nothing has changed. You just didn’t have access to news stories across the country like we do now. You only heard your local news. If you listen to true crime you realize there were a lot of kidnappings in the 70’s and 80’s too. My mom told us a story of a man following her and trying to talk to her while she was walking to her friends house. That was late 50’s or early 60’s. So she started running. When my brother was little in the 80’s he was at the store with my mom. He was sitting by the front door of the store while my mom shopped and some lady wanted to take his picture. He ran away. But I feel like she may have had bad intentions. When I was a teen waiting on the bus stop one night a guy in a white van with no windows offered me a ride. I was like no that’s ok my dads on his way to get me. I think we all have one of those stories where something bad could have happened.

I grew up in the 70's. Until the internet came along, I had no idea that kids were being picked off like flies all over our country. And I have to say, being 13 back then, a young girl is not a YOUNG WOMAN. But a child! Still with a child's mentality, she had no idea of the dangers out there in her little world. Bless her soul, wherever she may be.

As someone whos childhood was in the 1950s & 60s & grew up in a village in the very far north of England i can say that we literally lived outdoors because there was no technology. The kidS today have things ie phones & computer games etc we did outdoor persuits like building camps in local woodland, making homemade go carts, horse riding, Wild flower picking etc However the main point is we were never alone ! We were ALWAYS in groups, most of my friends grew up together & went to the same village school Nothing was ever done by ourselves. We would go to each friends door 1st thing in the morning & gather together working out our itinery for the day. Sometimes in a large group or split up in sets of no less than 4 kids. I also remember the older members of our community would sit outside their homes on seats etc just watching & marking what was happening Call them old nosey parkers but if anyone wanted to know anything these older residents knew it all. If someones child was lost, the elder ones would point out where they had gone & who with This resulted in a very safe community & no child was ever truely lost, they were always found, always. We played outside from dawn to dusk & our parents knew we were safe because we were together at all times Sadly this kind of looking out for each other is gone, kids are unaware of dangers & the safety of being in numbers as most are glued to screens or phones & outdoor persuits are limited now Plus older people dont sit outside their doors much now & dont get to know the younger members of their communities Also they are afraid of being typed as nosy people or too familiar with kids Its really a sad state of affairs There is no innocence anymore No trust, no true childhood Im blessed to have had a wonderful childhood & always felt wrapped in safety by my friends together, had marvellous adventures & knew the real happiness of friends who cared & looked out each other. Thank you for this video, missing children are so terrifying & sad & unforgetable 🇬🇧👧

@Happy Dog 🇬🇧 Thank you for your reply Happy Dog, So pleased you also had a great childhood watched over by the community which always was the case, once upon a time. I had one reply which stated or implied i was looking at the world in rose tinted specs Well, its obvious this person wasnt privileged to have grown up in a time or place when my kind of childhood was rather the norm. I know big cities are alot different, but having said that, ive been to many large cities past & present where there are neighbourhoods where a cluster of concerned communities live, who still look out for their own & children in particular! Visiting New York many times over the years & staying in certain places where ive got to know the people aroundabouts who still sit on their door stoop watching the kids muck about & will actively enquire to the business of strangers in their area, getting their worth & if they are up to funny business In fact it was one of the reasons i kept staying in certain areas because of the sense of community involvement, safety & Concern Sometimes these places were quite poor or of mainly ethnic people but i was welcomed so genuinely & made to feel secure that i returned to them It was wonderful to be recognised by these people & shouted to & waved at after a 10month absence & once after an 18month absence, my name being called out & greetings said to me i was astounded.. I could have afforded really high end hotels in classy areas but honestly never felt safe & after my very 1st stay in N. York moved from my 5 star hotel to a little bed & breakfast in Brooklyn later visits in Queens & there abouts This great advice was given me by a N York Italian American taxi driver who gave me places to stay that were excellent & within a warm caring community So places like my own childhood still exist & within huge major cities too. I hope you are well, happy & feel secure in your surroundings as i do myself still to this day 🇬🇧👧

@Happy Dog Oh so many thanks for your reply Yes, as we age we become so much more security concious. I suppose in days long past, people or pioneers in your great & beautiful country were just as security concious as we are today. Theres security in mumbers but also security way off grid too Its like being between the devil & a hard place!!! However im a great believer in gut instinct which i feel after many long years ive honed it to a high level of alertness Ive never ever not trusted in my intuition & gut feeling & its never let me down. Sad in a way It's like it is, yet its more exposed nowadays by the multi media outlets we have & Which we sometimes scare ourselves to death with. I dont blame you for your security, better safe than sorry And bugger to anyone who makes derisive comment You keep safe girl & stay happy & contented With cheers & blessings to you & your doggie companions 🇬🇧👧

Unfortunately by far the greatest liklihood is that she was dead within 24 hours, and either buried in a shallow grave in one of the numerous wilderness thickets in Florida, or her body was weighted down and slung into a pond, lake, drainage canal, or river. I would rate this as one of the TE cases that is least likely to ever have any sort of definitive solution ... _perhaps_ unless the police release more information about the other suspects.

How incredibly sad, not just because Gail was only 13, but also because she truly seemed like a sweet, beautiful, spunky young woman who would have likely grown up to make some kind of a contribution to the world. I was particularly touched by her love of animals -- her raccoon, in particular -- and her apparent love of all things living. It saddens me to be reminded that there is such evil in this world that would take a girl like this away from her parents, who must have endured a pain so deep and unending that it would be unfathomable to most of us.

here is a thought for you ‘rescuer of ‘coons’. “wildlife” outfits like the ‘state’, say these animals carry rabies, so they put or rather dump from aircraft in huge amounts, packets of digestible (vaxx.) for these animals with a taste to encourage their eating of them.....dosage levels then become way over limit. Consequently , the animal will always test pos.+. for whatever they are looking for. ‘coons’ which repeatedly raid dumpsters are always subject to pathogenic effluvia and will test for anything you test for, these are ones which need removal to remote habitat to regain a natural life of their kind and be thus Rehabed !

Sadly, there is no chance of finding Gail and the odds are she`s dead. Regarding her pet racoon, taking into consideration that raccoons are not domesticated animals the racoon probably run off into the woods and disappeared into the wilderness. Very tragic for the family.

I think of it this way: As the stars dissipate with time so does that darkness befall on the world we live in, through out time life has simply just gotten harder with every generation experiencing their own hardships that may have been seemingly easier to the generation before. You can see this just from the imagination of what frightens or terrifies the common person today dealing with social struggles or views, for instance in the 60s they didn't worry about school shootings happening every month or every other week, nowadays there is one almost every other day primarily focusing on children.

This case was expertly presented and analysed by the narrator. My experience growing up put me in a position of having met many personality types holding many and varied positions of authority as well as countless “hippie” types who were rather common in that day and in large part were forthcoming with their varied experiences which put them in that manner of lifestyle and wishes to liberate from the strait-jacket nature of the times. When it came to those older and in possession of trust&authority, that became an entirely different “kettle of fish”. The time of this young free spirited childs’ disappearance was shortly after what was referred as the period of liberation by young people and was ill understood by those ‘older’ and having grown up under the strictures of a society still recovering from the shock of witnessing such freedoms being exhibited by youth. How is it that purportedly responsible officialdom Failed in all the points you made clear in the account of your research (?) This ‘fail’ disgusts me !! as i can recall ‘flower children” as the saying went of young and free ,anti-war ,loving life& beauty girls were mishandled by old’err persons and authorities who felt Privileged and muchly Acted so ! For some (reason) i would have to determine that (something) significant has been ‘left out’ in the half-ass investigation!

The conversation if there was one was probably so ordinary and common that no one suspected that a crime would be committed soon after that initial confrontation. Also she could have been privy to the raccoons sense of trusting or liking someone and that sealed it for her in trusting this person. This person could have had pets also. Also was Gail the type that could have been lured by a nice car? I would think older girls of age or close to possessing a drivers license and wanting to go out with someone with a nice car would be this guy's type of targets. So then that could mean that Gail and her pet could have went exploring and something happened out in a wooded area near her home?

It was definitely a different time. A mere aquaintence is someone you know. Especially for teens. I only hitchhiked twice and that was with another person. I would not except rides from strangers when walking alone. But as its stated. We didn't have horrible and terrifying news broadcast 24/7. But I still believe gruesome crimes have escalated since the introduction of the internet and the 80s epidemic of McMartin child abuse. So parents were threatened with arrest if they dared to discipline their children. Resulting in kids running the house. I believe she was abducted. A happy young girl who never imagined a monster was lurking. But even with the two idgits that planned on killing a child. It shows our world is full of depravity. No family should endure such pain as losing a child. But to never know. Has got to be the worst.

I don't think Stano had anything to do with it. If the sister saw the guy with the white car, it seems like they would have been able to come up with a good composite sketch of the guy. Linda would have seen him before Gail's abduction, because she was already home when Gail left. So, he must have been hanging around the area for quite a while. It's really frustrating that there are so many witnesses, but it didn't help at all.

There was a girl named Amy billig who disappeared from Cocoa Beach Florida in 1974. She got home from school. That's the last time anybody saw her. They don't know what happened to her. And the mother went through all kinds of stuff to find her daughter. Her daughter was abducted but I think she heard that her daughter was abducted by a bunch of biker people. I remember reading that there is a biker guy that died and he said that him and his biker buddies abducted Amy and took her up into the Florida Everglades to a biker party and the drug turned raped her and then threw her into the I believe they said the Florida Everglades. But to this day they've never found a body or anything. You should watch the story on her.
