When I was in high school I had to pass a Buick dealership while walking to school. I would inspect every new Riviera that came on the lot. My favorite color was called "Coral Reef". They didn't build too many of them that color and I've never seen one that has been saved. Just down the street was the Ford and Studebaker dealers so I kept close tabs on the Thunderbird's and Avant's. In fact when I turned 16 I used my Uncle's '63 Thunderbird to take my driving test. Those were real automobiles .Overall '63 was my favorite year for the auto industry. Awesome cars! Thanks Lou.

Next, to the 1965 hidden clamshell headlamps, the 1964 is a very beautiful car. I don't think WHITE does it justice out of all the amazing colors Buick offered on this car. Bill Mitchell's design of the 1963-1965 Riveria, in my opinion, holds the candle to all other designs. This shape and body is so gorgeous and unique that you can't drive this car anywhere without people stopping and staring. Good job Lou!

I’m a huge Riviera fan and we have owned two 65’s. I really like the 64’s better. I love the headlight pods that glow when the headlights are on. The 64’s don’t have the troublesome headlight doors that are on the 65’s and all of the 64’s came with the 425 340 HP engines. Fantastic cars in every respect. Kudos to this great facility for doing the first class reproduction parts. This is a nice car but really a stripper. No air conditioning and not even power windows. Strange because it does have the deluxe interior.

Hey Lou!! As I mentioned before, I am not so much a BUICK guy. But their are a few that I REALLY LIKE. This is one. This Gen. Rivera is just so classy. The light green version of this is just jaw dropping. The console and dash work is so nice. Some of the boat tail era Rivs. are not bad but this first Gen. Dressed up is just lovely. You can see they went after Thunderbird. GM did a outstanding job with the first Gen. Rivera, and the Gran Prix. Just awesome Lou.

It was a great time for GM. Not only did you have the all new 63 Corvette Stingray , Buick debuted the 63 Buick Riviera. A classic from day one. The 63-65 Riviera is a gorgeous automobile. I have seen a couple of them. The 64 I saw was a 70k mile original one owner car. The interior was blue. Same seat pattern but the door panels were a bit different. No wood grain insets or on the console . The console had a black material inset and just above the shifter was a shiny plaque with Built For and the original owners name. It lacked the power seats but was equiped with power windows , power vent windows , and AC. It was a really gorgeous survivor with excellent paint and flawless interior but showing a bit of wear under hood . It's cool to see these cars. Takes you back to another time.

Fantastic Lou. I have pretty much the same car but with air con and electric windows. The car shown has delux interior but the power seat control has been mounted on the side of the console instead on on the arm rest. I'd say someone has added this later as it would have been easier to retro fit that way. I've bought quite a few parts for mine from OPGI.

The Riviera was the most noticed car on the road, I've had several Riviera's of many different years n I really luved them all because they got the most beautiful lines, features, powerful, and drive like no other, I've got to say the Boatails (71-73) is the ones that inspires me the most, I just spent the last 3 years restoring my 72 Riviera GS Stage 1 since 1984 . Of course I bought good quality parts through Original Parts Group and was always great guy's on the phone for my dumb questions, n got my parts quickly. I would like to give the Rivi, and OPG 5 ☆☆☆☆☆'s

I especially like that dual door open feature! Overall this car could easily have passed for 69 up to 73 models. But thats just one old fart's opinion. Beautiful car. Lovin' that interior! While not a deal breaker - at 5:38 that's always been a middle range pet peve of mine when the arrangement of the steering wheel ends up at a 45 or upside down when the wheels are pointing straight. For years I worked on just not paying attention to it when I get in a car. If I notice it, it almost drives me nuts. And it's always a short trip. :-) PSSST - Lou - that wiggle stick adjustment tingy on the side of the console.., its the passenger side ejection seat, and that means it was owned my James Bond. Hey., I'm old., and I can say crazy stuff like that. :-)

Wonderful car Lou , did you know that this car was going to be a Cadillac ,they didn't want it so Buick built it . A Bill Mitchell master piece . GM was still building the best cars in the world in the early sixties. People often called these 63-65 Riv's the Doctors ( rich person's) muscle car. Quiet a few were exported to Australia as we had no locally produced V8 coupes until 1968, they were converted to right hand drive for our market and you had to have serious cash to afford one. love it. How to tell 1963 and 1964 Rivieras apart? Look at the rear for these details: B U I C K letters on the middle edge of the trunk lid, and Buick tri-shield emblems on the taillight lenses (1963); Riviera script on the right side of the trunk lid and oval "R" logos on each taillight lens (1964). Bu güzel 1964 Buick Riviera Otomobil Türk Sinemasının Çirkin Kralı Yılmaz GÜNEY'in 1960'lı yıllarda kullanmış olduğu özel otomobiliydi. Yılmaz Güney'in 1960-70 yıllarında çekilen çoğu sinema filmlerinde bu Buick arabasını görebilirsiniz.

1963 was the last year for dynaflow. 1964 Riviera has Turbo 400. it does differ in some respects from the Turbo 400 that was offered from 1965 forward. 1965 1966 and 1967 Turbo 400 have variable-pitch stator blades.the 1964 Turbo 400 has fixed position stator blades. So you do not get that extra surge of power when you depress the accelerator. The 1964 Turbo 400 has a single range Drive. there is no separate selection 4 Super Range.still it has all 3 gears Low super and drive.it has the same passing gear when you depress the accelerator.you just can't hold it in super position as you can with the 1965 and later Turbo 400.

Way out classes the newer Buicks.the newer ones are more like a cheap Asian car from the 60s&70s, will get you there, but That's about it.the newer ones wouldn't inspire me to want to detail it.or even have any pride in it.just something to scrap when it's worn out.not rebuild.
