Interesting note on the CT factory of the clinipad corporation, the one that had the moist towelette. They closed down in April, 2000 due to contamination that dated back to 1992 and had to do recall on several items. Not sure if that towelette was part of the affected, but thought it was an interesting side note.

Excellent video my friend. The first Tuna and Noodle looked a lot like the old Omelet. The orange pound cake was gold back in the day. The Tabasco sauce worked well with this meal. Also the first cheese spread, I probably would have ate it, just to see if I would survive. From your reactions on the first meal, even Lucky would have ran.

Excellent video. Always appreciate the fact that even without smell-o-vision, i can get the same impact you get because of your super varied range of verbal expressions. That first tuna and noodles made me cringe. Did not help that i had one earlier either, at least mine was fresh. Btw, after you wash your hands use some cinnamon powder to rub on your hands with a dab of olive oil. It works for me whenever i need to drive away something out of my nose.

I worked at the plant that packaged the MRE's he's testing now all I tried back then was noodles and tuna only because the company was giving away some other than that I never tasted them now that plant is closed I bailed out before that happened seeing the packages brought back memories of working on the machines the made these meals ready to ship out I had a great time at the plant I miss it at times hello to all my buddies that worked there in Mc Allen, Texas. I'm glad I discovered this channel because I'm learning a lot that I didn't know about stuff I've had. Back in around 1999, my uncle gave me a bunch of MREs that, based on your videos, I think date to around 1990-92. They've never been frozen but have always been stored cool and dry. I've been taking these things camping as recently as this past summer (had "Ham Slice", which was way better than I remember it being as a kid), and the only things that ever managed to spoil over the years were the beverage powders (generally turning into a hard clump) and the Potatoes Au Gratin in that last one (which was probably still edible but pretty unpalatable). Most of them lacked FRHs, and all but one or two had the brown accessory packets (the better ones being "Accessory Packet B" because they came with the Tobasco). Went looking for them and found that I've only got one left - Menu No. 3, Chicken Stew, with Packet B - and now I'm at a loss as to what to do with it. But I know more about it now, so that's nice. Thanks, Steve!

Shame about the 1989 ration mate. It was a total washout. The Cheese Spread looked especially rancid. I hate Cheese Spread in Rat Packs even when they are new! I don't know about American Rat Packs but the British Cheese Spread is especially thick and has a nasty habit of freezing solid in the cold weather. Vile stuff. Great video buddy.

+Thomas Shorthouse The US cheese spread is about 50% butter and tastes more like butter than cheese and is really salty, it's not terrible but the jalapeno cheese or bacon cheese is better. I still prefer the peanut butter.

+ThisFish, cheers for the info mate. Jalapeno cheese spread, wouldn't mind having some of that actually. Yeah the peanut butter in ours is super thick, it glues your mouth together! But with no chunks in it so it is smooth. Very tasty but you need a hot drink to wash it down (my favourite being Mint Hot Chocolate).
