Thank you so much for taking the time to teach 2 color brioche in continental. I watched other videos and thought I "got it" only to find after a few rows I would have to frog it and start over. You videos are great! They are well paced and explained in detail. Thank you!!!

I appreciate it that you are showing the English method. Thank you for taking the time to show how the Brioche stitching is done! I get confused to doing it the Continental way. The English method has become my way of knitting as I've been knitting this way for a long time but haven't done a lot of peojects. I have tried the Continental stiitcing and found my right hand gets stiff and starts to ache. Thank you again for this tutorial.

+Kikyo Akiyama great.n it can be difficult at first.
@GiuliaKingsley4548 жыл бұрын
Suzanne Bryan yeah
@SuzanneBryan8 жыл бұрын
+Kikyo Akiyama The beginning depends on the edge you want and the purpose of the project. For example if you need a firm CO, you can use the standard Long Tail CO and just use the two colors( assuming you are doing color work). Have the Main color be over the thumb and the contrast color over the finger. that is the easiest way to start. You can try it with the contrast over the thumb and the main over the finger for the CO too and see which works best for your particular project. On the other hand, if it is an edge of a shawl or scarf, and the edge can be very fine, then the Italian CO will look best. It is the most difficult to master, maybe of all COs. But, once you get it, it makes a wonderful starting point (although very fiddly) for Brioche, as well as Double Knitting. It took me quite awhile to master the Italian CO. I do have a video of that as well, in the my Brioche play list.

I am puzzled how you know when to knit and when to purl thr Brk. And also when to start and end with slip st or knit st. Otherwise your videos are great and you go slow enough for us to catch on. Thank you !
@SuzanneBryan7 жыл бұрын
When you see the yarnover over a stitch, you work that this as it is. If it is a purl, you purl it, if it is a knit, you knit it. You just need to look at the stitches on the left needle as they are coming up. If the next stitch does not have a yarnover associated with it, then you slip it and make the yarnover at the same time. It is a rythym and you will find it as you practice.

Are you using an odd or even number of stitches? Do you have a written pattern? How do I know when to knit the first and last stitch and when to purl it? That part confuses me.
@SuzanneBryan4 ай бұрын
You can use an odd or even. If you use an even, you would start with a knit at the beginning of every row. If you use an odd, there will be a RS and a WS, on RS rows start and end with a knit, on the WS rows start and end with a purl.

I hate this stitch SO MUCH. I've tried to learn it so many times. I thought this video was going to be the one, but I SWEAR I did what it said, and 8 rows later it's just a horrible snarled up mess. The stitches looked right on the needle at all times, but the fabric... :(
@SuzanneBryan8 жыл бұрын
I am so sorry, can you send me a picture of your work? Maybe I can help you.
@SuzanneBryan8 жыл бұрын
You may need to work more than 8 rows. Brioche is notorious for looking messy in the first few rows. It takes a while to establish itself.
@30endlesslove8 жыл бұрын
this is so confusing for beginners. I advise to practise with lots of scarves first.Understand knitting.learn the yarn. quality.quantity. the needle sizes.cast on number of stitches. look at your work as you knit. research on knitting techniques...try new patterns...practise practise practise then this will be a breeze...
