2011 VW GTI: Episode 43 Vlog: Unitronic Stage 1 DSG Tune

I'm not real thrilled with this video as far as showing you what this DSG tune is like, but it was the best I could do. Its hard to show twice as fast shifts when you are dealing with like .5ms shifts in the first place. But maybe you can get a feel for how the shifts are a bit faster now.

yes, it helps the downshifting when stopping a bit. i think it downshifts a hair earlier in each gear.

You can see it’s shifting loads quicker, I’m getting stage 1 dsg and stage 1 engine soon not unitronic though.

naw i dont ever clean my underbody. i guess its just cuz i live in california. not to omuch mud or rain here. plus my cars are usually low mile. this one has under 12k on it right now.

This looks so nicee. I'm considering to tune my A3(TDI) DSG but also a lot worried if something breaks or get wrong after that. Ther tranny is alredy fluid like butter and precise but I'm thinking that Revo would solve my two very litlle objections. The first, as u said using the 1st gear very shortly (will always shift to 2nd), and there is a clunk noise (wich doesn't affect the driving or shifting at all, just a sound) when down shifting from 3rd to 2nd (time to time not always)... Besides of that the DSG shifts like a dream. Very very satisfied :))

hey Plac --- how has the longevity of this DSG tune been? I had seen a couple other review online that after a while it seems to lose it's "crispness" as it were.... Also, and more(better?) vids of this in S mode and/or manual? cheers

@@LastHumansGarage EQT tcu is good, but it cannot be installed on its own without ecu tuning. too much money for a tune dsg only. i think installed unitronic on my mk7.5 245hp. TVS does not give me satisfaction because it does not have a homogeneous drivibility.

I am a little hesitant to buy a DSG tune for my car. Some people say they destroy clutch packs really fast. How is your DSG holding up? I have about 45,000 miles on my DSG. It's one from a 2012 (I assume). I lost my first DSG from mechatronics failure at 33,000 miles and that destroyed everything inside it.

i have heard of like 2-3 DSGs going bad with DSG tunes in 7 years of modding.

Well to be real you can broke down any transs (stock without any tune) if u drive it like a lunatic all the time. I'm pretty sure for casual daily driving with some overtaking time to time there shouldn't be any issuses... 🤔🤔

So the tune also reprograms your MFD display? Is there a way to bring it back to the original display? Cuz your compass is gone. maybe VAG-COM?

Volkswagen told me my firmware was recalled on my 2011 DSG So they switched it to the new software and it doesn't feel as quick ...

How does yours stay in gear longer? I’m in 5th gear at 30mph and 6th gear at 40mph... I’m Unitronic stage 1+ ECU and Unitronic stage 1 DSG... it’s quite annoying and it feels like stock.

At 1:01, DSG kinda holds 2nd Gear quite long before it Shifts down to 1st gear at almost 0Mph, is it a bad thing or is it a normal thing?
