I’ve been newly subscribed to you for a few weeks now. I found this message to be of great encouragement. I’m currently on a weight loss journey. I gained 15 pounds after two major surgeries. I truly needed to hear this to stay motivated. I’m over 40 and working toward being more disciplined in weight maintenance. I totally understand what the battle is like. I totally get it Mrs. Val. I have gone through hell after divorcing my narcissistic ex husband after 20 yrs. Like. you said we may fall but never that low AGAIN! I protect my peace at all cost. I had a Great friend of 18yrs pass away in December at the age of 41 her heart stopped. It brought every day not promised to a whole new level. I have a strenuous job as a public servant that like. I have been suffering from exhaustion and no energy any tips you have would be helpful. Thank you for sharing and encouraging us younger women. The wisdom is greatly appreciated. Girl, I feel you deep down! I have a similar personality and it's like hell for me sometimes. I find it so hard to admit my need for help. I push help away all the time no matter how much I need it and I protect my peace at all costs. At times not even my husband knows what I deal with on my own. As a result I can come off as an overconfident carefree person. But nobody knows the trouble I've seen! When I fall I dust myself off and try to learn from the experience. I guess that's the price we pay for managing so much on our own without begging or complaining. As you said don't let any one steal your joy. God knows you deserve to be happy and in peace after all you've been through. Loved this video and love your spirit. You were very inspiring!!

Geeeezeeee I can relate to this...lost two siblings last year in 2020 within a 40 day span but God!!!! As black women we MUST learn how to take off the superwoman cape and take care of ourselves. When did honesty become cocky? You're a mature woman who has experienced much and learned from them. You exude confidence, not cockiness. Cockiness comes from an inflated sense of self. It's not reasonable.

Hello Val, OMG your story resonated so well with me! Your testimony is definitely helping me right now! I am 67 years old and I have been going through a lot for many years and did not want to show my vulnerability. I did not want anyone to see my weakness and I was trying to show myself and others that I was strong when I clearly did not know how to say it or show that I wasn't...rude awaking for me. I love that you were able to share your journey and I love your newfound strength. I realized that I need help because like you said I can't do it all by myself. I am now scheduled to see a therapist this month because I really and truly need and want to change to be the best me that I can be. In 2018 I became a motivational speaker under Les Brown's university and my desire is to share my story to help change lives. Oh my God you touched on something that was slowly dragging me down and it was regarding working from home! I would work a full day and then eat something and go right back on the computer until 10PM or later!! I am "old school" & enjoyed going to the office to work & see people but this "work from home " process was taking me out!
