Not sure what the go is mentioning traction control on locked wheels (rear diff lock & expecting traction control on that axle & all 4 wheels. You can’t brake an individual wheel to any use on a locked axle). Also mentioning the Merc and not spinning a wheel. It can’t as 3 diff locks were engaged - it would need to spin all 4 at once, which it likely did slip a little.

It’s one thing to drive it for a couple of days but the consumer has to live with it for many years.

They cover a few things but customer satisfaction on all of them are weak. The general dealer network is putrid in Australia. Face it, none of these companies care about you. I am seriously considering the new Everest 2022/23 which will be coming out later this year. I wonder how would it perform comparing to Prado.
@greenriver5202 жыл бұрын
The Everest is not a competitor to the Prado. The Fortuner is based on the Hilux, as is the Everest is based on the Ranger.
@bananabear0092 жыл бұрын
@@greenriver520 Perhaps I should make it clearer. I want to eventually tow a caravan, in which I ‘ve never have any experience. In that case, which one of more versatile and suited for conditions in Australia? I heard that the new generation of the Everest is actually designed in Melbourne. Just not sure if that will make it better suited to use in Australia.
@greenriver5202 жыл бұрын
Dick, the Everest is a capable tower, but it's limit is a little lower than the Ranger. Don't fall for the hype of 4wD Ute's and SUVs being able to tow 3 tonnes. They may well pull that, but the weight li it willsurely be exceeded before you leave your driveway. Also, it doesn't mean they're safe doing so. If you want to tow a 3 tonne van, buy a 3 tonne truck. Heavier springs only give you a false sense of bravado. The weight towed should never exceed the weight of the towing vehicle. The Everest is indeed designed in Oz, along side the Ranger.
@bananabear0092 жыл бұрын
@@greenriver520 Thank for the sharing. That's very valuable information on the myth of towing weight for us. Yes some epensive to buy 4x4's are nice and can have good taction. But To have a capable performance 4x4 for off road. I went with the old full size Ford Bronco! It took some work but not too much money. 35 inch tires gears with lockers some glass fenders ,bedsides and hood for weight snd tire clearance. Shock mounts and bypass resivior posixion sensitiveexternal resivior shocks . Long wheel travel very strong suspention. A internal balanced stroker motor wit EFI AFR heads and performance exaust. 3 foot whoops at 70MPH without spilling your beverage. Surprises catching air ,through washes etc.. fast not an issue. Power to tow very plentiful. Traction through it all is hardcore with lockers. High speed through rough terrain smooth in control with no worries. Plenty of room inside a full size SUV for gear and people . Able to get there fast go everywhere in comfort.. Get there first and claim the best spot. Blast past the rows of slow off road groups of traffic like Jeeple spottong each other off things like a curb. Gives me permagrin out for camping, hunting or fishing or just having fun. I am not going out to be posh I go out to have fun and tear up some desert sand dunes or?I recently went deep into DeathValley through 2 foot rocks so plentifull it was hard to see the road for a long ways. We got to a cabin in the middke of no where and with no stallings breaking or getting stuck I found my manual locking hubs were not locked! I got there in 2 wheel drive. Not super slow not very fast but kept it moving and comfortable. A big smile for doing it in a truck I built with work of course and some money for great parts but not a lot of money. I make some but not rich. Surprised at the price Broncos of close to the year of mine built very similar were for sale for. Performance off road is not cheap. Not easy to do yoursel fbut can give you a truck that not many can beat or follow places off road fast comfortable and safe with confidence. Similar to a Ford Raptor truck with a bit more performance. For the cost of S Raptor I do not think I would drive the way and al the places I like best off road. hERE IS A SHORT CLIP OF MY FIRST RUN OF PART OF THE 150 MILES OF DIRT Mojave Road at late sunset filme3d ghby my girl in the pass seat not sped up or slowed down.
