Have you ever heard of the Milk and Honey channel on KZbin? I think you'd really enjoy Charlotte's content. She is BIG on planning. So much so that she created a planner you can download and print out for a binder. I really enjoy using a binder for planning. I can get everything in one place with dividing tabs. I'm like you....prefer paper and hand written. Also...I'm with you all the way on doing ballet for exercise. I danced for 26 years. Retired at 30 but I still love to dance! Don't kick quite as high at 40 lol but it's still a lovely way to exercise! Ooooo....how wonderful would it be to do a once a week "class" for us to follow along with!?!?! Because you're obviously not the least bit busy already. 🤣 Just a fun thought! Happy New Year!

Oh yes! Paper planners for me too! As a retired teacher/professor, planners and writing are very good for one's brain. There is something about cursive writing that helps our brain connections. I love planners and pens and paper! Look into whole foods plant based foods and eating. I not only lost weight without trying but I feel so much better. I use maple syrup and honey on my Cheerios instead of sugar. Bless you!

I grew up dancing, but decided to pursue visual arts through high school and college. My dancer heart has never died, though. As Martha Graham said, “a dancer dies twice - once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful.” Seeing you keep your dancer heart alive is so inspiring! Thank you for sharing.

Hi Nikki, I followed you every step of the way. My favourite idea is the ‘I can be messy’ book. Using pencil or pen. Absolutely brilliant. I also applaud your idea of going back down a dress size. I started the same thing in January 2020 as I weighed over 81kg and in September 21, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer on my right side but my weight was down to 64kg, and a Size 12/14. I haven’t been that size since leaving school 54 years ago. When I mentioned this to my Consultant, she was thrilled as the type of Cancer I had was oestrogen receptive, and by losing weight, I had basically been starving it. It’s well known that after the menopause, a lady’s oestrogen drops, but if there are cells becoming cancerous, oestrogen may feed these cells, and so the oestrogen ‘thinks’ it is still needed. I plead with all ladies, if you can, please, please take care of your weight and always go for your mammograms. The mammogram that I had was supposed to be my last one and I was tempted not to bother. If I hadn’t, none of you would be reading this now. Love and blessings to you all. ❤️

In late spring I start to pick my white roses and my lily of the valley. I place that combination all over the house. It's my favorite combo and the season for lily of the valley is so short. I do everything on paper. It's comforting and artistic for me.....as an artist I have a passion for creativity.....I love working with my hands. That's just how I roll. Dearest Nikki, your brain seems to function a lot like mine does. I'm finding as I age (I'm only 46), I have to write down my thoughts, plans, habits, goals etc in multiple notebooks. I don't love it. As a person whom thrieves on having less, I'm trying to come up with a way to have only one. I may this year experiment with a bullet journal or create my own. I refuse to use any sort of electronic planner/calendar. It just is not the best solution for me. You mentioned fitting better into your clothes. I so feel you on this. I bought a pair of jeans one size bigger. They are actually too big for me which I'm happy about. I know I could stand to lose 10 pounds to fit into my size 2 comfortably. It's hard but I know what I need to add more of, hoping that will crowd out the "bad". I follow Jennifer and am so inspired by her and her weight loss journey. Have you considered IF? I too need to eliminate sugar and breads. Good luck! Saying and writing down your goals for the year works. You got this! - Leslie
@TheLadyoftheHouse2 жыл бұрын
I know there are folio systems you could use multiple journals and trackers in....my problem will always be the beautiful options of planners and what each has inside. I prefer that to making my own I guess. I hope you find something you love and that works well for you. I went up in size a couple of years ago and then spent a lot of money on that new size, I refuse to do that again. It's nice to know what motivates us, for me it's my dresses. I've been doing IMF for years but don't care to talk about it. My husband used that method to lose a lot of weight years before I started my channel. That alone doesn't work for everybody though. It's best paired with a no sugar, low carb diet, especially for someone like myself. Sugar makes me swell up, the same with my husband so this time, he's cutting that out too. Thank you, I wish you the best as well Leslie!

Bonjour! Loving paper and pens, my planners are always paper ones :) and they need to be pretty, chic and effective. It would be a terrible punishment if I was made to use a digital calendar instead... can't stand these 😊 My favourites are Filofaxes: a personal size as a planner (I can take it with me on my regular trips to Paris), and an A5 (stays at home) with different sections for finances, books, movies, health, and an alphabetical index for miscellaneous. My favourites are vintage leather filofaxes in beautiful colours. My creative mind loves rings because I can add and remove or reorder pages! They have pockets, and inserts which can be personalized. Your planners and notebooks are gorgeous especially the peonies ones and the 'envelope' one you take in your handbag 💝but they are not available here. I also have a Commonplace notebook (to keep my ideas, inspiration, favourite quotes, a new book or movie I hear about, etc, everything interesting that cross my mind and that I can write down quickly to remember it, and can be copied later if needed into the proper filofax or notebook. If you don't know about the Commonplace book, you may want to look it up on wikipedia or someone else, its history is fascinating, dating back many centuries, with so many famous and unknown people having one... or many over a lifetime. Lots of people use the term 'brain dump, notebook' nowadays but I don't find this elegant. Because I'm French I call it my "Carnet de bord" which means "journey notebook" or "travel log". And life is a journey, isn't it? :) It was a delight to hear you talk about your beautiful planners and notebooks, and how you use them, thank you so much Nikki!

Giving up sugar is hard-really hard! I did in July, along with beginning an exercise routine M-F for the first time in my life, and intermittent fasting. Have dropped 25 pounds (roughly a pound per week), which is pretty good for a 64-year-old lady. Despite backsliding from Dec.23-Jan.1 (Christmas cookies!!), I was on the treadmill at 6:30 am this morning along with squats, leg lifts, etc. I still don’t like exercise but I Love the results so…the adventure continues. Best of luck with your own journey.

It is very hard! Congratulations on what you were able to do and yes, IMF is and has been part of my life for some time now but that didn't take away my bloating. That's something that can only go away for some of us by cutting the sugar and carbs. Anytime I ate something with that, even if I had been doing so well, I blew up again. Oh and your book on Roses is so beautiful!! Lots of roses seem to have French names :) Thank you for sharing some of the pages! One of my favourite books on roses is "Redouté Roses" by Pierre-Joseph Redouté: He was an amazing French artist, his roses are extraordinary well drawn, in a vintage style for us today as he lived in the 19th century and his first book was published in 1817 I think. His work is still so much loved, whether in books, or framed roses. Years ago, my mum offered me a couple of her Redouté roses frames; and one of his books - I cherish them so much! I am not sure if they are your style of roses but if you don't know him already, this artist and his books can be looked up easily :)

I also do NOT like digital planners. You use a different part of your brain for typing as compared to writing, and it's been proven that the things that you physically WRITE down, you remember better typing. When I type something on a phone or computer, it doesn't feel like it's mine, if you know what I mean. And I really love the way you have several planners for different things. I have done that too and for some silly reason have felt...almost guilty about it. Just like you said, sometimes you think "it's a bit much." But really, it works so well and totally helps me stay focused on one aspect of life at a time. If I see too many options, I can really get sidetracked. I really like your plan about having one book just for your health. You have inspired me. I am going to do the same thing. Like you, I will not share it with anyone. It's for myself so I can better see where I am consistently doing well and where I am falling short. It's a great idea. It would just make a person stay accountable and with any health changes, it's consistency that makes the difference....not drastic practises that can never be maintained for the long run.

So true! The best way I can describe it is I'm feeling different at different times of the month and sometimes just want to sit with my thoughts, plan things out or work right off of a specific list because my head is spinning. Things change, I change, my planners change and there is no reason to feel bad about that. The same way we are full of energy some days and others not. I have really been enjoying putting those things in my health journal. I hope you enjoy having yours!

I've purchased some new planners (one of the ones you have is included) and I'm trying to put it all in one place so I can organize it. However, now I can't find the main one I purchased a couple of months ago. I think it's somewhere in my bin of papers in my office. Have to find it tomorrow!

Nikki, My goal for this year is to make time for creativity. It brings me so much joy but is always last on my list and often I never get to it. I love your planner system. I would like to recommend a podcast called Half size Me with Heather Robertson. She also has a website. Her tips and suggestions for lifelong weight management have been life changing for me this year. It isn’t a program, just sound and practical tips. She is really worth the listen. Happy New Year!

You're right, it goes to the bottom of our list if we don't work it in some way, I hope you do. Thank you so much for sharing this source Jennifer!

Hey, Nikki! Thanks for the inspiration to have a “messy, ideas as they come to me” book...yay! I write every morning in a “stream of consciousness” writing practice called Morning Pages (Julia Cameron), and having a smaller book available next to me as I do this writing practice will work perfectly as a place for me to quickly jot down ideas as they stand out in my mind. Again, yay, and Happy New Year of all the pretty planners and books!

I learned about Morning Pages too. I find if I don't have that, I'm sitting there making mini calendars in my notebooks to sort things out in my head.

In my experience I would bring that plant inside until it looks perky again. Keep moist.

I had always heard that eating sugar makes you crave more and it is absolutely true. I had labs about a year ago showing I’m pre-diabetic so I had to limit my carbs which, of course, especially, meant sugar. My weight is just melting off. I’ve lost almost 40 pounds since. (Slow and steady wins the race.) But, I don’t even want sweets at all until I have a rare dessert and then I want them nonstop after that. I had never believed that until now. Losing this weight feels so much better than any of those carbs taste.

Hi Nikki. I've used mostly lined notebooks here and there. Seeing all of your planners, I wonder, at what point to you throw them away? Do you have stacks of them somewhere? Just curious because knowing my self that's how it would be for me, lol. I would like to know how you quit sugar because Of all the things I need to do...that would be it. Happy New Year to you and your family.
@TheLadyoftheHouse2 жыл бұрын
I've thrown many of my older ones away. Last year I decided I'd keep them for now because I love to look back at my choices and there is just something about having them like a memory book of sorts. I have a box that I've been keeping them in but maybe one day I'll end up throwing them away. I may share parts of my journey but it's not what I want my channel to be focused on of course. We shall see. Happy new year to you as well!

How I would love grass! I live in Las Vegas, NV....it's a desert over here. It takes a lot to keep grass up here but is possible. Maybe one day.

Do you make these body workouts daily as you showed in the beginning of this video? How much time do you take for this? Wished to see it clearly rather than in a blurr..anyway those are graceful movements. Do your chickens harm the plants and flowers around? They do peck and eat most greens here..
@TheLadyoftheHouse2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's so important to have something we do each day, even if it's just a walk. 15-30 minutes. The blur is for me and my comfort, thank you. Yes, the chicken was harmful to our flowers and plants but now they are safely tucked away in their coop. It's better because we get coyotes that hunt small animals where I live.

It is so elegantly modest, so pretty and not private. Is your “morning bar” ballet? I actually google determine online looking for instructions, it’s such a lady like way to start an exercise. I would really love direction to find instructions to implement this in the lives of my daughters and I, as well as providing this lady like option to my friends and those I mentor in womanhood and girlhood.

I'm a college student and strongly dislike digital planning because no matter how customizable the program allows it to be, it's NEVER as efficient as just jotting things down however I like, in whatever color I like, etc. The idea that my computer can be better at organizing my life better than me is just wrong. I also just don't like being on my laptop.
