A bonus on the door handles especially where you are, if you get an ice storm that covers the car in a sheet of ice, you don't have to worry about the door handles popping out! My daughter actually figured this out and made a very good point as the other EVs all have handles that need to pop out. How many people have you heard that were frozen out of their Tesla.

Great review deep explanation of the benefits of the ID.4 i got mine last week Pro S AWD and as you mentioned the deals right now are excellent. The MSRP was 54K and with all the incentives $7,5K plus dealer incentive and VW Credit customer loyalty (This is my third VW) the final price was $43K! considering all the features and level of comfort that this car and trim has is a tremendous price. I have a level 2 charger at home so no problem to charge during the night. Once again great review of the ID.4 enjoy it is an amazing car.

We just test drove a 2023 ID.4 AWD Pro S and my kids went through the infotainment center very quickly and easily. The experience in a Model Y LR was much different, where there was lots of hunting, searching and getting frustrated. In the VW they found desired options without having to try hard and felt that the exposed Climate and other dedicated buttons were far friendlier than navigating through Tesla menus. I was also able to read the ID.4's menus and buttons much more easily, as my far-sightedness made the Tesla interface look like a blurry restaurant menu most of the time. We even figured out the sliders immediately - VW made a super easy UI, overall. The haptic buttons were fine to me and their tactile feedback on steering wheel buttons helped ensure I was doing what was intended. I do feel the rear window switch toggle is just typical German engineering weirdness, my Audi had similar little quirks. The Tesla frunk is essentially in that ID.4 hidden storage space beneath the trunk, I feel. It's a frunk in the trunk. Overall, it was just more comfortable and refined feeling than the Tesla MY - it probably comes from the ID.4 being an electronic model from a car company, while the Model Y is a car by a would-be technology company. I want the 2024 model but the dealer was open about trying to entice me with this 2023 model at a price that was even less than you got (sorry), so I've been mulling that over. Am likely going to wait until the 2024 comes out because it has updates I really want and don't taking delivery later in the year, plus the discount will not be as steep as for the 2023 inventory. But upgraded software that I saw on another channel, more efficient + powerful engine, etc. are things I can be patient to obtain.

We have our 2022 ID4 AWD Pro for over a year and racked on 24,500 miles. This car is worth every penny. We've done 10 hour road trips already and for a family of 4, it's fun for road trips. We use EVGo and charging 60% costs $12, so driving is affordable. So about $18 to fill up a tank from 0-100%, for 250 miles, even though you should charge from 20%-80%. My previous Honda Clarity would cost $38 for 300 miles range.

Thanks a super video. I live in the UK and got a VW ID4 in April. I do really love it. But I just don’t get VW and the features on it cars. Mine is not quite the top range but has automatic folding door mirrors. However when I bought it I was stunned that the rear door does not have the power close!!! It wasn’t cheap to buy as we have no government subsidy to fund EV car purchase. But I have enjoyed driving it over the past 6 months.

Now I don't get the $7.5K rebate because it's used but for under $35 grand for a top trim AWD VW SUV, it's a deal. I’ve had two ID.4 vehicles. First was an early 2021 AWD Pro S. It was a great car but had some first model year bugs. I replaced it with a 2023 AWD Pro S. The 2023 version is far better. I like the ID.4 over Tesla Y, and Hyundai. The ONLY area where they are better is rocket ship acceleration. The ID.4 in sport mode (it has five driving modes) has enough kick to dust 80% of other vehicles on the road. That’s good enough for me. If you’re shopping for a decent EV SUV, the VW should be on your short list.

VW recommend on the UK website the Ohme Charger and Octopus supply. I got both when I purchased the VW Cupra Born. The VW Cupra Born didn’t charge 5-80% in 35 minutes stated in the technical info but took 50/55 minutes so basically less than 2hrs driving for 50/55m charging. Hopeless in my experience! I’d carefully check the stated rate of charging and make sure that VW won’t later argue it is a “range” for instance. The VW website for the id4 has an involved charging simulator and a long footnote which includes the unexplained and random battery safe “feature”. Given my experience of the VW Cupra both with poor DC speed and with half charging overnight on Ohme/Octopus on 75/80% of AC charges, I’m not convinced with this EV platform

Another bonus on the deal VW in November 2023 (besides the 5k off the sticker), is offering 3.9% financing for up to 72 months. I considered this and a Tesla Model Y and ended up with the same trim level VW (w/ Aurora Red Metallic, SHARP!), and the VW was $5,500 less to purchase than the Tesla (not to mention the $s saved on 3.9% vs 6.9% financing for the Tesla)

Excellent walk-around review. I am seriously considering this ID.4 trim and trade-in myVW GTI. Test drove this trim recently but still on the sideline waiting for further VW discount 😂. I would never buy any car at $40k, let alone $54k. But with potential VW deep discount and $7.5k incentive, below $40k is a possibility, at that point VW and I would have a deal. If the discount does not meet my objective threshold, then I will see what 2024 ID.4 or 2024 M3 will bring to the table. BTW Elon's bi-weekly antic behavior only drive me toward VW ID.4. Shocking to know that there was a $5k mark up on EV6 Ioniq5... early this year to now $5-10k discount, so I will patiently wait.

That range wouldn't work for us. We travel too much. I'll admit that EVs make decent commuter cars, but for serious driving that range wouldn't cut it. I would literally have to make 3 charging stops just to get to Disneyland, which would effectively add an extra day to that trip (consideting the drive home, also). If we wanted to go farther than that, this would wind up costing us nearly double to take a vacation--hotels, remote charging, time lost, etc --negating any fuel savings.
