My cut out cookies are always a favorite on my trays. Sweet, soft and delicious! ( frosted or plain!) I mix the batter and chill overnight then bake the next day . We used to save them for an activity between Christmas and new year when the kids began getting bored and fidgety, now our10 year old granddaughter comes over to frost and decorate. Man, does that girl have the decorating moves! She'll be here today, as a matter of fact , and has a box full of trees, stars and stockings waiting for her to work her magic on. :)

Hey, Amy, Angela here! Last year you inspired me to TRY making cut out cookies for the first time. After watching you roll them out and cut them out, I thought, I CAN do that! I used a recipe I had found from a baker that I had saved years ago and they turned out perfect and tasted better than any I had ever eaten. Also I used the cookie frosting from Walmart. The great value. It is so good, amazingly. The recipe for cookies used vanilla and almond extract and were not too hard or too soft but were just right! Now I am going to try the crackers you made. They looked really good! Thanks for inspiring us to try new things!

My daughter had a smaller puzzle that she glued together and just did push pins and it ended up warping/bending. I think we just used Elmer's glue though, maybe the actual puzzle glue would keep it from bending. We are doing sugar/cut out cookies tomorrow. My daughter, home from college, requested them. Have a wonderful day, see you tomorrow!!🙂❤

I have always done sugar cookies from my mother's old Fannie Farmer cook book for cut out cookies. I'm in my 50s. My mother taught me to cook from that cook book. I have learned to put the cut out cookies on parchment paper on cookie sheet when baking them. It's just better for me I think....

We did cut out cookies yesterday with grandson it was fun. I watched Moss tv she used Betty Crocker sugar cookies mix added flour rolled thin. We had so many cut out that we got tired. We decorate for ever and had a blast but the ones not frosted I am loving the flavor and my son loves the decorate ones. So easy and fun.

My family love, love, love cutout cookies and like you I dislike doing them. But I don't want to disappoint them and do have to admit that sometimes a little decorated cookie with a cup of tea is such a nice treat. (I always frost cutout cookies.) Over the years I've collected a huge amount of cutters for all different seasons. $1.50 butter is an excellent price these days! The lowest I've seen it on sale (and it was a limit of 2 per customer) is $1.99. We love those saltine toffees and there is a good reason they're often called 'Christmas Crack', haha. Hope your area won't have a tough time in the big storm.

I found a recipe on the web for Maple Syrup Pancake cookies. Maple syrup is in the cookie & in the glaze. They looked & sound delicious. When I was growing up we started making Christmas cut-out decorated sugar cookies & other holiday cookies, on the Thanksgiving weekend. By Christmas I know my Mom was tired but, we had lots of cookie tins filled with goodies. I miss Mom & those days. 🍪❤

You can use elmers glue for puzzles it has to be diluted a little with water to spread evenly. I never tried it because I always thought modge podge on hand. My Dad hung Mom's puzzles in the garage and used nails it worked, but I am sure you wont want to do that to your walls. They do make puzzle frames they are like poster frames which would work the same way. The bitter cold/snow is heading in today hasnt reached me yet but its just over the border in Missouri. It will be drifting south to you so bundle up!! Merry Christmas to you and yours!! 💜💜

Hi Amy. Long time subscriber but rarely comments. The one cookie I make every year (and dread) is kolaches (balish). I saved my puzzles and used matte mod-podge and it worked great. To hang mine, I used poster frames. They have been up for awhile and one of them did start to bend a tad over time. Merry Christmas to the Maryon Family.

Good morning. Yes I wear jogging suits or Leisure shitzu or whatever you want to call it the law suit out. My theory in life is comfort wins. You contributed to the puzzle you put the last piece in and you found the last piece which is the always the challenge when you're missing one piece. Well you will filming that the picture of the mountain behind you it's gorgeous is almost like it could be its own picture for a puzzle. It's funny about cookies. I like to eat them without the frosting, my daughter likes defrost them but not eat them. We just do a small amount and she can decorate whatever she wants and then I don't need to eat them so the more she decorates the less I'll eat. You have a terrific Thursday and I'll see you tomorrow

My cut out cookies go like this: Two packs of pre made cookie dough. Slice and bake, then either frozen or in ziplocks on the counter. Day of decorating: everyone gets a sheet pan, several cookies, 2 colors of icing (they can share), (it's just powdered sugar and water maybe some vanilla extract) a paint brush and ALL the sprinkles u can imagine, colors shapes flavors. My kiddos never missed the roll cut and bake. They had so much fun w the fun part! We always chose one cookie per child to leave for Santa. If we ran out of cookies and they still wanted to decorate, I let them decorate their cookie sheet. Sometimes I put dried egg whites in the frosting and it will dry very hard....you're able to use your decorations on a birthday cake later or just eat for fun. All of the above saved this moma so that I wasnt already tired when we got to the decorating part. Merry Christmas Amy family. We have driven to our destination 4 days ahead of schedule to Nashville to beat the snow. Now we sit in a hotel room waiting w snow and zero degrees temps BUT I will be able to make it now, to my 2yr old grandbaby's Christmas morning. It's an exciting year for us. God bless us every one!
