Hey yogis, this week I have a very special yin yoga practice for you! If you have hormonal issues, this 30 minute yin yoga practice might be just what you need.
While yoga is not a cure, it can help support the healthy functioning of your endocrine system. Hormonal imbalances such as adrenal fatigue or thyroid problems can be aggravated with stress. By practicing restorative styles of yoga like Yin Yoga we can soothe the nervous system and reduce stress. We will do poses that encourage blood flow to the adrenals, pancreas and thyroid. You'll need 2 blocks for this practice.
What is Yin Yoga? Yin yoga is often called the Yoga of the joints because unlike other styles of yoga, the emphasis is not on the muscles but on the deep connective tissue. Connective tissue is made up of fascia, ligaments and tendons which surround and form your joints. Yin yoga improves the range of motion in your joints and also strengthens them. The results and benefits are more flexibility and greater range of motion and also more stability within your joints.
There are 3 principles of Yin Yoga.

Nice class. I find a difficult to relax my neck most of the time. For example in child pose, when 3th eye is on the mat, how do you find a comfortable position for the neck? 🙏🏻

This session brought such a huge emotional release for me, I was crying and healing emotional wounds all the way through the video. Thyroid issues often come from a fear of speaking up, a fear of being in your own power, and it my belief that it can be improved just by learning to love ourselves and forgiving those who made us feel like our voice didnt matter.. It was like I was healing that part of myself while doing this yoga session, absolutely beautiful. Thank you so much Kassandra, you are a light in this world 💕

Absolutely amazing. It feels so often that mainstream yoga of only hard poses and fast paces has taken over (not that I don't love Ashtanga and Vinyasa flow) and I love that in your yin classes I can take a moment to enjoy the pose, feel the pose, reconnect with myself and breathe into the pose instead of running to the next. Thank you for amazing free yoga, love you and your classes

Kassandra has taken yoga to a whole new level, teaching yin for different issues, body parts. I really appreciate this, as I feel I need to restore my body first; then, I can strengthen muscles, etc. Yin yoga is wonderful after one has experienced trauma. Even without much energy, I can still do an hour or more of yin yoga.

I did this yoga this morning! And I just came back to this video to comment that this really works! I was not having my periods and the acne was getting so bad because of it but after I did it, I got my periods at night and now I feel much better! Thanks! I’m gonna continue doing this 💜

Loved it. This was a really restorative, quiet, grounding and thorough practice. Considering I'm starting to go through perimenopause, I appreciated the balancing effect. I do yin, hatha and restorative yoga regularly and this was very much up my alley. Thank you!! I so appreciate you sharing

This was the third time I've done yoga. I am recovering from adrenal cushings. I really felt relaxed after this 30 mins. I have added this to my new nightly regime. Thank you for making this accessible. I did have to look up "fat girl yoga" to see how my body should look. Not as flexible as thinner people, but happy to feel included. Thank you!

I have been practicing your different classes and it has significant bettered my problems with arthritis pain and not been able to sleep at night due to this and hormonal unbalances. I am so happy that I found your channel Kassandra! I have been a runner for over 45 years and have very little flexibiity so I have found Yin Yoga to be very restorative. I have to modify most of the poses because I can't move my body that agiley but I still find a lot of value in stretching even if in a modified way!

I felt really lousy when I started, and even most of the way through, but now, about half an hour later, I feel considerably less lousy, more grounded and calm. I really enjoyed this practice. I've been doing yin yoga consistently for about a month now. I've been doing a lot of shadow work and inner child healing and unfortunately been dealing with a lot of insomnia. I've really enjoyed all of your yin classes and they have not only helped me release physical tension, but also helped me release a lot of emotional stress as well.

I did this once as my first foray into yoga (trying to heal adrenal/HPA axis issues). I didn’t know what to expect but I certainly didn’t expect to feel as much of a difference after. I was astonished at how calm and at peace I felt. I am now addicted and do it every single day at my lunch break. It has improved my HRV in just a week and I know it is going to be the key to my healing. Thank you so so much🙏🏽

This will be one of those practices I will do regularly, it went very smoothly from beginning to end and I found it so soothing. Also feel less fatigued afterwards. I've been more into yin yoga lately as it is not only calming anxiety and relieving anger, but also easing the pain in my legs (a lot of old injuries..) and because I don't have the energy for ashtanga yoga etc at the moment. I've never thought of yoga as a cure, but more like a helping hand and your teaching style really emphasizes that. Love your videos so much.

Wow this was amazing! I have severe endocrine issues after grief with PTSD, it manifests as tingling all over my body. I'm sitting here after this session and the tingling is all but gone! Amazing work Kassandra 💗

Thank you. This practice steered me off a bad mood trajectory. I come from a kundalini yoga back ground. Have found myself including more yin yoga as I approach the change.

I can't wait to try this. I'm learning recently that a lot of the problems I've struggled with over the past 7 years are related to hormonal imbalance. I've become exponentially sensitive to dust, mold, detergents, many foods, and much more. Hopefully this video will be a new addition to my arsenal.

@@karthikks9976 I've been trying to do the 10 Min. morning practice daily. Also take several longer yoga classes each week at a gym by my home. I want to add a short evening, primarily yin practice each day too. I like yogainmelbourne too. Best wishes to you!

Thanks for this! I was having a really stressful day at work and couldn't do work out to unwind as this was my designated recovery day. So I decided to do this. By the second pose, I could already feel my facial muscles relax - it was an amazing feeling, like that feeling of getting the nasal passages unclogged. I also almost fell asleep doing the laying spinal twists 😂 Thanks again for this. ❤️❤️

Thank you Kassandra. I love this. My personal experience: I was experiencing stress so it was a challenge for me to calm down and have a clear mind. Especially in a yin practice with poses you're meant to be calm in. I definitely struggled with square pose with a twist but now I know how to modify it for myself so I'll make it a smoother transition next time. I love this more because it's clearly what I need, not just on extra-stressful days but in general. I love ending practices up the wall. Thank you.

Really enjoy your classes. I especially love that you use props (bolsters and knee cushions, etc). I have a lot of issues with my knees and I always thought that the fact that I needed to use props meant that I wasn’t as flexible or as good as others when doing yoga. I know this sounds silly, and that you should never really compare yourself to anyone else, but I always felt self-conscious because I had to use them. Seeing such an accomplished, strong and flexible person such as yourself, use them, gives me confidence and makes me feel better! Thank you 💜🙏✨

I hope you read this Kassandra! Thank you for this beautiful yoga practice, it is exactly what I need right now to support my hormone balance as I go through breast cancer treatments and still have 4 more chemotherapy to go and 20 radiation after that, and then my hormone treatment will commence for the next 5 years as my cancer was hormone sensitive. This yoga practice helps me even to sleep better as unfortunately I have some sleeping issues due to heat flashes, but your yoga practice helps me a lot. I am obsessed with yoga anyway. Ever since I did one of your full chakra yin practices, I now always feel the OM chant at the end starting in the root chakra and travelling all the way up to the crown chakra and it is quite wonderful!

I do Yin almost ever night, My favourites are your meridian practices, your positive affirmations and your chakras. I pay for a yoga subscription through Gaia as all the Yoga studios are still closed, however, I still come back to your videos time and time again because they are amazing!
