Welcome to the Chalfant TV! I am Chalfant.
I started reacting to BTS' music at the end of October 2020 with Trale over at Brothers From Another Color (kzbin.info...) and we still do. Nothing is changing with Brothers From Another Color! It's just that we want to do MORE! We can only shoot our videos together one day per week, and let's be honest, it would take us 5+ years to react to all that BTS has to offer with only shooting 5 videos once per week.
Rather than just privately listening to their music on my own, I’d rather share the entire process with YOU! The goal here is to continue diving deeper into the BTS rabbit hole independently and bring our new insights back to our BFAC reactions!

Hi Chalfant. Greetings from Mexico City 💜. Yes, Jungkook has rapped before, way back in the early days, as a matter of fact he's a sub rapper. He still does every once in a while showing us why he is the Golden Maknae 🤗. Jin is always teased when rapping because they say he sounds like a monk 🤭. And V's got all the attitude, but somehow he sounds funny to me. Eventually he'll find his own style, I think. I've heard Jimin rapping to Tony Montana and I think he's got potential 😊. I know I'm no expert, this is just an opinion. What I can say and I'm sure everyone will agree, is that when the vocal line raps, the stage hypes up and Army goes wild 🎇💜💜

The part where RM is stuttering while rapping - he's basically making fun of people who at first insulted them when they were small then suddenly when BTS became big, they want to apologize and be all nice to them. Can't remember if I've mentioned this before, but since you're doing a focus on Yoongi and Hobi soon: SOPE (Suga and J-Hope sub-unit) made a fun little entertainment for a Japanese fan meeting (I think) performing a fun song called Otsukare. You won't see Suga much more hyped - this is what J-hope does to him. Ddeang my serotonin 😍😂 FESTA! It happens on social media everyday from start of June. They drop something new every day, from original songs to covers to photoshoot pictures to dance practice videos. It always has the dinner or hangout style video that you saw parts of in some of the other compilation videos when they were talking very intimately and reflective. Then they wrap it up with a concert on their debut anniversary 13th June. Every year the concert has a different theme prom party, home party, etc... it's always in Korea not Japan. Last year they couldn't do that cozy type of concert so they replaced it with the online BangBangCon live. The 1st & last performances you watched were actually the same only one was from different camera angles (the one broadcasted on Vlive) and the other was from 1 camera angle for the bangtan bomb. They only performed Ddeang twice even though it was released in 2018. Once was in the Festa of the same year, the other time was in Muster of the following year (with the vocal line, the one u saw). I remember the day it dropped (it was called dd ceremony on the festa schedule and we had no clue what that meant) our army translators were panicking about how they were possibly gonna translate all that wordplay for us. They were posting multiple pages of handwritten notes to try and explain it all 😂😂 I assure you there is even more meanings not mentioned in the explanation and doolset lyrics. Like RM's stutter rap is how the people who mistreated bts in the beginning of their career come back now stuttering trying to tell them they actually like them. The part about homework can also reference that, at that time, a lot of companies were doing research to come up with (what they called) the "BTS Formula" that they can replicate and apply to other groups to achieve the same success. "We only excel no break" line can mean the accelerator & breaks of a car (so they go faster and never stop) or excelling in everything without anything stopping them. There really is no cussing in the song, some translations used cuss words in eng but the Korean lyrics were just offhanded insults not actual curse words. At the time the song was released bts were getting a lot of hate that they are become westernized to seek validation and that they were forgetting their Korean roots. So making this song, with traditional Korean instruments for the beat and wearing Hanboks (Korean traditional clothing) was in itself a statement. Before Festa Taehyung posted saying he's excited for the prom party and that he'll do something for the first and last time ever. Next thing we know, he's popping up in the middle of the performance to dance a bit before he runs backstage again 🤣 There is a subbed version of all older bangtan bombs (usually on Bangtan Subs channel) because they only started adding Eng subs a little over a year ago. Also, the rest of that behind the scenes was them doing the stage & dress rehearsal for the same song, it wasn't a spoiler for a different stage.

Kook’s a great rapper ! He did more rapping in the early songs. I am praying for some rap on his mixtape, although he writes mostly ballads (from what we have heard up to this point). Funny point, during the practice, when Tae kicks off his shoes (he hates wearing shoes), Jimin gets mad and throws them ! Jimin gets so angry with Tae always taking off his shoes, and throws them. Once he got mad and told Tae, “ you have such nice shoes,you should wear them properly!” . If you look closely, you will see that quite often, Tae will have the backs of his shoes smashed down, and wears them with his heels out. Tae IS a mood ! Great reaction to this song !

I love how they use creativity to respond to their haters with a card game known to all your haters, too. In this song, they were wearing a traditional Korean dress and the music in the background is a Traditional korean music, too. When you react to "Daechwita" film by Suga, you´ll see, he wears a traditional Korean Hanbok and the film was in a traditional Palace in korea. Also, he acts like a King of the Joseon dynasty (to much to learn from this song) Anyway, Jkook can rap very good. they are wearing a traditional Korean Hanbok. Last year, they were wearing a korean Hanbok with the song "Idol" for the tonight show starring JImin Fallon. This song "Idol" performance was with Gyeongbokgung Palace as a background. And the song "Daechwita" by Agust D2 (Suga) film, is with this traditional korean Hanbok as well, and it was set up in a historical palace, too. I don't think there was anything directed at ARMY in this song - they're thanking haters for to their success, thanking them sarcastically for "helping" them achieve success. As RM says "I'd rather hate comments than no comments - no one knows who you are but you all know my name." Also there have been haters that tried to take credit for BTS success, who in reality only put them down and expected their failure. I also wish people would just compare this card game to poker, I think it'd be super easy to grasp if they just say like "this is the equivalent of a royal flush" etc

The outfits are Korean at the first video, it was a fancam of the last video since it took sometime till the official bomb was released,,, the theme was prom party the rapline was wearing hanbok and I saw Tae and Jin wearing robes (the outfit Tae came out with in the ddaeng performance) Jk was rapping in the first 2 albums when you get to the old stuff you'll see rapper Jk 😂 he made a cameo in "my time" but we still waiting for a comeback. As for Jin and Jimin they are too adorable in the preformance I wanted to hug them, but don't be fooled no one beats Jin's rap when he is angry.. he scolds everyone with rapid speed 👀🤣 as for Jimin he rapped once with suga in a track called Tony Montana (live version only,, and only once 😭) Taehyung on the other hand has the biggest soft spot to the rapline songs, you want to get him to move paly a rapline song 😆 in one of his recent vlives he was playing his own playlist and "Ugh" came up twice 😄 he is streaming it more than us, whenever anyone of the rapline releases a song he acts like the official hype man for them no one can say he/she is the rapline biggest fan when he exists 💜

Festa is the time of year (June) when they celebrate the anniversary of their debut. For the days leading up to the 13th many gifts are released to ARMY. Actually, I think this song is directly speaking to korean media and the kpop industry. The way BTS was shut out by media and harassed continually by the big companies actually lead to their success. Because they couldn't get exposure in their own country, Bang PD made the decision to send them on tour and develop an international fan base. The members were mistreated on variety shows, so he developed their own shows. It's hard to realize this, but while BTS had a korean fan base, they were virtually unheard of by the average korean. They weren't mentioned in the entertainment media (Big 3 influence there) and presented as an 'afterthought' on the occasional showcase. DKDKTV used to go out on the street and ask pedestrians and maybe one person out of 30 recognized their name. They didn't become 'known' to the general public until they won the AMA's in the US. They received their first Billboard (US) award in the spring of 2017, but this was not known in Korea. Later that year, they had their first win and televised performance at the AMAs and that spread around the world. Suddenly, it was like they (Korean Media and population) had just heard of BTS. There was a big clamor with many TV shows and podcasts asking how they achieved this. Bang Si-Hyuk was invited to speak on several different panels. (You can find YT videos where he finally held a symposium all about it.) So. When Ddaeng thanks 'haters' for their success and wishes small companies well, they are speaking to the Big 3. They are the 'frog' living in the well. **Just a side note: DKDKTV did a followup survey in 2018, showing pics of BTS members and asking if anyone recognized them and many people did. ***Also, enough can't be said about the dedication and support of the fandom in Korea. Those ARMYs supported the boys with clothing, household goods... all kinds of things. They translated content and generally worked their asses off to promote BTS and to recruit ARMY members around the world. (And at the same time, were fighting fan wars online..)

The wordplay in this song is amazing. Namjoon's part is my fav from this one. Jk used to rap in older songs, he can rap really well. To hear Jimin seriously rap you should check out "Tony Montana" by Suga ft. Jimin. Jin can speak really fast (specially when he's scolding) so sometimes he raps even when speaking. XD And I don't think I have to anything about Tae. Rapper Tae is everything. Loved the way your face lit up when Tae came up in the bangtan bomb, that's honestly me all the time. 💜💜💜

I’m glad you reacted to original Ddaeng first, so you can appreciate how good the song is and learn it’s meaning before watching fun stuff like the fun performance with vocal line rapping and geeking out lol. One of my favorite songs. About vocal line and also V coming out dancing at the last video, this was during their anniversary celebration FESTA and that performance/fan meeting/concert thing is called a Muster (army, muster...get it?). Your reaction to the first performance video, the Bangtan Bomb, and the last video you reacted to is for the 4th Muster in 2018 (five years since debut, but it’s their 4th anniversary because 1st is the year after debut). The one where vocal line was rapping that is the 5th Muster in 2019. So the fun thing about the Muster is you get performances for songs that they either have never performed before or songs they’ve haven’t done in a long time, fun stuff i.e. Ddaeng w/vocal line, and maybe like fan favorites. I believe Ddaeng the song is one of their FESTA gifts. During FESTA, they give gifts almost everyday leading up to their debut anniversary date (starting at the beginning of June or end of May). Such has releasing a bunch of photos from special/themed photo shoots they do for fun for fans to enjoy. Release free original songs or covers. Videos. BTS member profiles and questionnaire type things. You’ll see a question like what they’ve learned from the past year and what they want for the future year. Ultimately they have a party (on video) which their conversations and their thoughts go deep and they give their honest reflections, but also answer fun fan questions. You can learn a lot from themselves and their past from this party, and that they do it every year. I never know what to call it, but it has been referred to as “attic” or whatever. I’m not OG ARMY, so there are still things I’m learning after almost 2 years. These are things I picked up along the way. Then the fan meeting, the Muster, which in 2019 they did two nights in Busan, two nights in Seoul, and did multiple in Japan. For the year 2020 it was an unusual one, because of COVID. I don’t think they even referred to it as the word “muster,” and I think maybe because it’s not an in-person gathering of troops/fans. They did an online concert/fan meeting, and it was called BANG BANG CON: THE LIVE in June, which what would’ve been their 6th Muster sans-virus. They broke the record for most concurrent paid viewers for an online concert with 756,000 paid viewers. That record was broken by their full on, huge (budget-wise. they pulled all the stops), online concert Map of the Soul ON:E with almost a million viewers (993.000 across 191 countries). It was their way of replacing or making up for the cancelled tour because of the stupid virus 🥺 It was in October and it was A-MAZE-ING for an online concert. It can’t beat in-person live concert, but I hope it starts getting better so we can finally see each other (BTS and ARMY). Sorry, I didn’t expect to give a dissertation, but a lot of BTS stuff needs explaining for newer people lol. I would’ve appreciated it when I was new, but over time figured out stuff.

But what I find helpful for myself to pinpoint sub videos faster is type the gist of the video title and add “Bangtan Subs.” A lot of (or most of the time) for me when I only put “eng sub” or whatever, the good english sub videos don’t get top search results for some reason (maybe the term is too broad?) so you have to keep scrolling and scrolling to find it. This is just my experience. The channel Bangtan Subs do their best to sub all BangtanTV content when they have time to and if you specify their channel name in KZbin search along with BangtanTV titled videos it will give top results. Plus, Bangtan Subs always title their videos the same as BangtanTV. If someone else add subtitles to videos, they tend to rename the video to their own title or description of the video which is different than the original title.

But In "Daechwita" explanation, I prefer "Liry Onni". I'm going to give you some information, that I think you don't know, and maybe not many either. I found out on the channel of two Korean women who live in my country and they played it on their channel last year. After that BTS released "Dynamite" last year, some Koreans, (as usual), criticized that they sang everything in English in this song, and that they were going to western culture. Although RM explained that Dynamite's lyrics had come in English and it was better not translating it into korean. Since all of it sticks more to the disco music of the 60s, 70s, 80s and giving more honor to that great singers of that time, (the smile of Elvis, John travolta in the film of 77, Michael Jackson in the 80/90s), But after "Dynamite", of course, they did a live performance for Jimmin Fallon's show with the song "Idol". And the response to these criticisms in Korea was: This "Idol" performance with traditional Palace as a background and wearing hanbok . It's a statement "we may have released a full English track but we are and we remain true to our roots!!
