This is how my hair wash routine usually looks like now. Nothing has changed, I've been using shampoos/conditioners for many years and have washed my hair in a downwards position. Sometimes I would reach out for Co-Wash Cleansers. But besides my clay masks I don't really experiment too much.
New is that I rarely do Aloe Vera plant gel prepoos anymore, because it's not always readily available. My last aloe prepoo was in December 2021. I've been using the Rahua Classic Shampoo and Conditioner for 4 weeks now and my hair is really loving it. Especially the Conditioner is the best conditioner I've used in my ENTIRE hair journey from relaxed to natural! 😍 It's light weight, doesn't leave your hair sticky or oily and the slight foam makes detangling life a breeze!
The hair wash consist of:
1. Water Rinsing throughly to remove the water soluble products from my hair and to get it wet.
2. Shampoo. I lather twice and my hair is loving it. While I shampoo my hair, I make sure to smooth my hair down and already finger detangle my hair.
3. Conditioner. I condition my hair while I use a detangling brush to get all the remaining shed hairs out of my hair.
(4. Clay rinse. I'm a fan of the #maximumhydration method and love how well it clumps my hair. I don't clay rinse every wash day, but just see how much time I have and how my hair is feeling ;-). Key is to have it already prepared it for the shower. So that you can use it like a second rinse out conditioner)
Then after the rinse I apply my first gel or base product on soaking wet hair and leave the shower to put on my clothes.
Part 2 with the styling will be uploaded soon.
We're still underrepresented! So come on and join me for some type 4c natural hair love.

Thanks for sharing! I enjoyed watching it from start to finish. What is the purpose of the clay mask in your routine?

Thank you! ☺️ It lifts my hair from lime buildup, draws out impurities and also clumps my hair very well. I have never used Chelating Shampoos and don’t feel the need to, because I’m happy with what I’m using. I’ve been a follower of the #maximumhydrationmethod since my big chop in 2015, but do my own tweaks. Hence the clay mask step. This method has taught me to regularly cleanse my hair, use oils very sparingly and use botanical gels for washngos. Instead of using baking soda, I just use shampoo and conditioner like anybody else. No hundred years of deep conditioning 😃 Which makes more sense. The creators of that method were doing a modified curly girl method for tight coily hair, that’s why they didn’t use shampoo. Clay masks can also be used as a first step before shampoo or even replaced as a shampoo, depending on how they’re formulated. Brands like Innersense, Flora&Curl, Terressentials, Rahua and Uncle Funky’s Daughter also sell their own formulations which contain different clays. So it’s definitely not a must to diy.

@@RabielleParfait Thanks for the thorough clarification. Since I follow black girl curls and have a slightly different routine, I was curious. I use a clarifying shampoo but usually every 8+ weeks, depending on how much build up I have accumulated over time and when I notice my hair is behaving differently with the botanical products I use. One difference from yours would be that if I needed to clarify, I would use undogoo clarifying Shampoo first followed by a moisturizing shampoo. I have mid to soft water where I live so not as much minerals in the water compared to other areas of the country. I appreciate you sharing as I understand the challenges of filming in the shower 😬.

@@JustTanoe I would wish to have better water quality, but where I live now, you see lime residues forming even after a day of cleansing. Yea it’s a real struggle in the shower! 🙈 The whole bathroom floor is always wet. 😩
