Yes, 99% of all people think that he made his money (in the 70s) only with Weider advertise. There were less price money that time, i heard that he gots 2000 $ for all his wins. He was the first promoter who gave the athletes good money for the places. Bec Arnold had a business education and good school in Austria he knows about business and money and renovates buildings and sell them with profit, and at his BB career he and Franco worked in real jobs, too. Franco became a Doctor of Chiropractic later, not as bad for a Boy from sardinia and former factory worker in germany.

Its pretty interesting how "average" of a builder he looks off cycle. He loved the sport and obviously didn't care enough to stay in top competitive shape all the time. In fact getting into the movies which is what his new focus was, many producers were telling him he was too big and would be type cast/limiting, not to mention his added disadvantage of not speaking English has his first language. But anyway, back to the point of how much smaller and less developed he looks just two years after his 75 Olympia win. I can only suspect he was still working out but totally off cycle. Looks like he lost about 20lb of muscle and added 10lb of fat. Yet people still wanted him to take off his shirt, do exhibitions etc. Id think he would want to maintain a little better for such occasions. He obviously got pumped up for many of his movie roles later. But that literally could have been just lifting between takes for an actual pump, rather then being on cycle. It wouldn't surprise me if he did get on the juice for some of his roles like Conan though just to bounce back from taking a back seat for a while.

Arnold is the personification of the post-WW2 American Empire. Arnold's transition from BB to acting, then to politics and then to a retired goofball grandpa, mirrors the US' transition from manufacturing to services/outsourcing, then tech/finance, and then a joke on the international stage headed by the likes of Trump and Biden. The US as it's been known for the past 50 years will die with Arnold.

Only thirty years of age, immigrant in USA, English is not his mother tongue, worst acting skills and vocals, acted in 3 films already and wrote a book. Seems hardwork, smartness, skills alone are not enough - a person need confidence and a level head to be on his own at such a young age. Fun Fact: Just a few days before this interview Muhammad Ali defended his heavy weight title against Earnie Shavers and still the reigning world boxing champion.
