You mentioned that if there is been abuse you need to get out, infidelity is a form of abuse, and the partners response, blaming and lies is abuse, in my case the infidelity was an escalation of the emotional abuse i allowed and was subjected to for 16 years, there was physical abuse at the beginning of the relationship and there was a hard boundary there, i immediately decided to leave but the pain and emotional brokenness is overwhelming.

No way I stay with someone who cheated on me. It is disrespectful and I would never love that person again. They basically lied and led a double life.

I fully concur with what you are saying but my partner was caught in the hotel car park and admitted there adultery. They decided to leave that very night and thankfully they dont want to return by my children's hearts are broken and nothing can repair that! When you are in a band aid relationship cheating doesn't make any difference to them, they just want out!

I cannot abide a liar, leave quickly because this isn't the first time they lied. They just got caught. They will lie again. Their pleasure is more important than the pain they caused you. I hope they feel terrible late at night when they are alone with their thoughts but they will lie to themselves.

I don't see how trust can be restored, if they are willing to do it once ( i think multiple times in my case ) then they will do it again. My wife swore she would never cheat on me, but women lie, if it is offered to them they will take it and think of the devistation they have caused later.

Men lie too. Plenty of wives get cheated on over and over.

Seems like a lot of work to do to save the marriage. Might be easier to divorce and find a new partner.
