There is 0 reason to upgrade to the gen that goes after your current one. I was sitting on FX6300 up until I got Ryzen 3600 and I could play all games. I am 100% sure skipping 5 and going am4 to am6 is going to be as viable. So if anything you will see lots of 5800x3ds

Yes, and no Because many drove those SOCs to 1.3volts or higher to get their 6400 mhz stable, eventually degrading this CPU by the time someone else gets it SOC is the first thing that Reddit "aficionados" recommend to raise, cooking your 7800x3D for that sweet 400 mhz uplift

I'm not sure about this. The 5800x3D is still fairly expensive in the used market despite the Ryzen 7000 had a nice performance improvement. Unless the next CPU gen makes it almost an entry level CPU I'm not seeing this happening.

Ever heard of the term "Planned obsolescence"? Generally chips degrade anyways loosing performance over time and 7800x3d is no exception. I wouldn't give my money for a chip that has been juiced serving someone else for years. Id rather add more money and buy something new with a warranty.

@@itzturtlexd1721 thanks, my current setup lasted me 8 years, it was rough for the last few years, but for 1080p gaming it was enough to at least play on low even the newest titles. Now I'm upgrading to 1440p and I hope this new build can last as long as the last one. Sadly I have to wait a bit longer for the motherboard, but the next weekend I should be gaming, though the waiting and anticipation is the worst 😃

I went through a mother of a Cat 5 when I was a teenager living in Dominican Republic. My whole street ended up underwater past the roofs of every home. The eye of the storm was so massive I legit though it was over halfway through. It was the brightest sunniest Caribbean day you could imagine and then the 2nd half slammed us overloaded a reservoir and flooded a good part of the neighborhood.

Glad I followed you advice on buying the 7800X3D during Prime Day (even though is was through Newegg lol) Also, you were one of the first channels that came up in KZbin search when looking to build my first gaming PC after a 20 year break (I've been a server admin during that time but that's a different world). Pretty much all your recommendations on components of a high end gaming PC build ended up panning out. I didn't completely trust you right away and did about a month of research via other gaming channels and websites on the various components but I could have saved myself a month if I'd just gone with your recommendations. Yes. You might want to check if it is acctualy a CPU under the hood. And check that the PCB have the right thicknes and right color. It should be green, not blue. The PCB should be about 1.3mm thick. not 1.1mm. There is a lot of fake 7800X3D's out there now.

Yes and no. I'm sure they are happy to make an extra $100 - $130 on each Ryzen 7800X3D they are selling right now. But that Ryzen 9000 stock isn't going anywhere.

Happened a few times around 3000 series etc. 7000 series is becoming a better deal than it was on release, especially 7800X3D has no 9800X3D to compete against in performance or to control the price, the substitute product does not exist yet in 9000 series X3D. Also there's a question of if 9000 series performs better on 24H2 (it does well on Linux also).

Bought my 7800X3D when it came out and it's been absolut brilliant compared to my old Intel CPU's (including the 13700K I swapped it out for).

The ban on china buying nvidia cards has hurt us more. These Chinese scalpers are profiting so much. I can see the 5090 retailing for 1700-1800$ for FE but then you’ll have global scalpers selling for 2400-2600$.

@@PCBuilderChannel I'm taking a lot of that build, only things I'm changing are the motherboard (going with the ASRock PG Riptide for the PCIE 5 support and an ID Cooling Frozn 610 for the aesthetic). I already have a Lian Li 216 from a previous computer, so I'll just be using that. Do you have any opinions on that air cooler by any chance? Love your videos, Jason.

Gaming is the most broadly popular usecase for extra cache but not the only one. There are more niche productivity that benefits more from cache, especially in the music production and audio engineering space. There is noticeable lag when dealing with lots of audio sources and the CPU doesn't keep up. The extra cache significantly helps there.

i just ordered a 7800x3d on september 12, and it has still NOT shipped yet! amazon says the delivery estimation is the 23-26th but i don’t believe it will actually ship. i’m really hoping it does soon i can’t wait to have that juicy cpu!
