I’ve handed homeless people delicious/expensive leftovers in downtown San Diego before after a meal. Of course they want cash 💰 (for dope) but i and i refuse to enable them. Anyhow, one fellow begrudgingly thanked me and moments later I looked back and saw him throw a half order of beautiful chicken parmigiana in the trash 🗑️! I couldn’t believe it!

im 6 months clean off of fentanyl. Its a tough detox but there are medications that help with that. The only way to do it is by accepting help. it is basically impossible to do it on the streets. i did it and wasnt scared to go through it because i had hit my bottom. Just do it Jonathan. Its tough but you have to man up.

I’m a grown woman and realize my family is a trigger. Once I let go of holding grudges and stopped using my trauma as a reason to use. Then I was able to start working a program. 5 years clean and we got our dream home. A log cabin in the NH woods. Nice and quiet away from all the distractions and people who pray on the weak or people who have addiction…Changes happen so fast once you get clean Martin, just try it. This makes my cry. I lost one of my sisters last year May 20,2022. She was a diabetic, they cut her right foot and then the infection spread to the left foot. If she had let surgeons remove the other foot, she would still be alive today. I’m miss you Big Sis. If I only had one more chance to hear her voice again. Now, we have some context to the addiction, mental health and grief, losing a parent is nothing easy to get over. He really needs some therapy along with treatment, anyone would be able to treat him if he wanted it, he would be considered a dual diagnosis, mental health and addiction. We may be a bit disappointed, but only Martin can decide what he’ll do in regard to his health. I want both of them to get well mentally, emotionally, physically and substance free; the choice is there, I guess they need more time to decide. Maybe the family checking in will give him some hope; forgive each other, start fresh.

He chose this path. He will need to choose his path out of it. He may want to stop but he won’t. Of course we feel sorry for him but there is nothing any of us can do. I worked detox/rehab for 2 years, I can’t think of many success stories.

No one has to teach you about drugs. All the years in school you were taught to SAY NO TO DRUGS. I watch these interviews of him and others and I swear I have never saw anything like it. Where I’m from and currently live I never saw a homeless person until I was over into my adult life. I saw a hitchhiker going through here recently and was shocked. Geographically, I’m happy I live in the countryside of lower Alabama. Thank you God for a life that many mock.

Martin you're right communication is key, as well setting short goals and following though with what is needed for yourself. At the end of the day its about you! Others can't work harder than you. Remember if you live in the past your depressed, if you live in the future it causes anxiety. 🙏🏻

I've been homeless I've lost my children to the foster care system for a year I finally got them back I was in a horrible horrible homelife I was in three orphanages an abusive foster home who adopted me and they were abusive verbally physically and sexually and I dealt with other things too and there were things in my adulthood that were not my fault and things that were I've been through a lot but I'm glad I went through what I went through because it may be who I am today sober I cannot blame anyone else for my life but me doesn't matter who did what to me and what happened to me all that matters is what I do now

@Lost in Phoenix, as Martin’s emergency contact please tell Martin to ask at the hospital for a caseworker to help him file for disability. He is very ill and maybe able to be helped faster thru ssi. Thank you for helping. Much love and respect. 🙏🙏💔🙏for Martin . Yes I know he has a substance abuse problem for the ppl saying he will be denied for that. Many ppl suffer from substance abuse. If he stays in the hospital he can detox.

What we see is all the different sides to addiction. Martin does want help. It's a process for the progress. People are to fast to give up, people like Martin need to know that people will stick beside him. My son faught addiction for over 20 yrs. I had to shut the door on him because he knew what to say he is now in recovery and doing great. When I stopped enabling him he was able to get the help. And prison does not help, with the abuse in the system. It might take another person to be able to help Martin but he's right were he is now thanks to Art's input. And the help you are all doing who have given things for the homeless to have some dignity. I'm in Australia and Martin looks a bit better may things get better for Martin and all homeless people through the world. The fight is real.

i keep seeing these comments and i just want to tell you how much you inspire me, my mother struggles with an alcohol addiction and often never listens to anyone but herself, she’s a very stubborn person, but she will drink herself to death without a second thought. it’s so hard to see that and do your best to help them, and see them reject it. but i want to say thank you for not giving up on this man like these comments tell you to, if he does decide to continue this life, he’s still a man, a human being and he’s struggling. the best thing you can do is what you do, talk to him and make him feel not so alone and that he does have options. thank you very much for everything you do. ❤️
