Using the mirror was a stroke of genius. It is so difficult to know whether the left or right is being moved first when face on. To be able to see the form being done from front and rear clarifies things enormously.

Looks like a good version for older people or entry level, and it's an excellent demonstration, thanks. I miss the spine torsions though, like in the Shaolin version of Ba Duan Jin. For me at least, the spine torsions are essential. I'll gladly support you, you're doing great work!

Thank you 🙏❤️ Very good question! This is a Taoist/ Daoist fist position. Thumb on the inside, pressed at the base of the ring finger where the finger meets the palm.

The Chinese Health Qigong Association are slowly ruining many of the Qigong sets that are promoting. This is a fine example. It is getting easier at each new release, but more importantly it's moving further away from the original concept each time they update it. Each movement is meant to be opening up and stretching Meridians, yet fewer movements are actually reaching a point of stretch. It's almost as if they are purposely trying to make the sets less effective. Edit: I wanted to add that this performance is beautifully done, it is the changes to the material in the set that is in question.

I appreciate your comment and do understand your perspective. I have evaluated different Qigong systems to see which one I wanted to bring into the school and I chose the Health Qigong system for a few different reasons. First, my main focus is Tai Chi and my Qigong practice is supplemental to Tai Chi. I found in many of my students what they lacked in their Tai Chi practice was strength and mobility. I found the Health Qigong system provides really good exercise sets that could help build strength and mobility while also bringing in the Chinese Medicine and Qigong concepts. The Health Qigong system is well designed as an overall system and very clear in its structure and training system and instructors get very good training from the Chinese professors who were coming out annually pre-COVID and continuing with Zoom instructor training during COVID. I view Health Qigong as a gateway to more traditional Daoyin exercises. IMHO I have had so many Tai Chi students who were long time Qigong practitioners who had very very limited mobility because their traditional Qigong practice didn't incorporate enough strength training and they really struggled with their Tai Chi practice. The Health Qigong exercises have really helped them increase their strength and mobility so they could improve their Tai Chi. They also felt improved circulation and overall well being so I know the Health Qigong practice wasn't worse for their health than the traditional Qigong practice, at least not in an obvious, notable way.

I am sorry to say that this is about 20% Chi Gong , 80% physical exercise. Most of the movements voilate the principles of Chi Gong.

I have tried out different Qigong systems and decided to teach the Health Qigong system to my students precisely because it is a physical exercise system. I have seen too many Tai Chi and Qigong practitioners whose bodies were too weak and limited in mobility and felt they needed to improve their fitness. The first thing I say when I introduced this Qigong system is this is to get your body strong and joints limber so you can move better. We layer the Qigong on top of that. I firmly believe strong qi needs a strong vessel to contain it.

@AipingTaiChi I understand your reasons, but that's not my point. You should not claim that it is Qigong since most movements violate the principles of Chi Gong. It would be perfectly alright if you said this is Baduanjin physical exercises. Also, people should understand the theories of Chi Gong before practicing it.

@AipingTaiChi If it's true that "too many Chi Gong practitioners are weak and lack of mobility, then people should give up practicing Chi Gong. However, it is not true except those fake Chi Gong practitioners.

I do try to be careful in saying this is Health Qigong, it is the system taught through the Chinese Health Qigong Association. I like the system. I like other Qigong systems too. And neigong systems too. They're all good. Feel free to remix my videos and let people know what are the principles violated and why you don't think it's good Qigong. More content is better for people to see and learn.

@AipingTaiChi The book "Taoist Baduanjin 丹道八段錦‘’ explains the theories of Baduanjin. I suggest you read it, and then you would understand the mistakes you have made.

It is better to follow the update versions from communist Chinese or to follow the ancient traditions of authentic Taoist Masters who knew all about nature and energy flow but communist Chinese killed during the "cultural revolution"?

My question is how do you know what you are learning are actually what was originally taught by the ancient masters? With Tai Chi it's pretty straight forward to know if you're learning something effective or not because you're either able to stay on your feet against someone else or you get taken down. With Qigong it's not so easy to determine. I have tried different Qigong practices and I think the Health Qigong system is great for whole body exercise. I have been through their evolution from their first generation of Ba Duan Jin, Wu Qin Xi and Yin Jin Jing and their updated version and think the updates are beneficial. It's a massive ongoing research project where they are analyzing data on efficacy. You won't get any alchemy out of it but most people need exercise and this is really good exercise. It compliments your other Qigong and Neigong practices.
