Lucy Gray and Katniss both cheated the capital in their victories, Lucy Gray charming the capital with her singing after Dr Gaul declared there to be no victor, while Katniss threatened to kill herself allowing her and Peeta to both become victors. Haymitch even tells Katniss "They don't take these things lightly" possibly hinting at that when Lucy Gray cheated the capital, Dr Gaul erased all evidence of the 10th annual hunger games.

Bit of a bending of the truth there though, since it was actually *Snow* who cheated (the old hypocrite lol) by dropping the handkerchief in with the snakes. Singing or no, Lucy would have been as dead as everyone else without that, *she* did not cheat the capital in that way. Cheated during the games with the rat poison, but that doesn't compare to what Katniss did at all...

@@Crisopeia Yes I said as much in my comment. But I also said that it doesn't compare to what Katniss did in my opinion - the Capitol wants the tributes to kill each other. While Lucy used unsanctioned weapons, she still did what she was supposed to do. Compared to forcing the Capitol to declare two winners instead of one by nearly committing suicide. No way to class what Lucy did as an act of rebellion.

Yeah fr, I see so many people saying she wrote it "about" or even "for" Snow, which just isn't true at all. She wrote it about the hanging she witnessed and did use it to tell Snow where to meet, but the song already existed at that point. Drives me mad, when she did actually write a song about him, just not this one!

Actually in the Mockingjay book Katniss is filmed singing The Hanging Tree song but it’s never actually aired, so this reminder to Snow of Lucy Gray only happens in the movies

Dumb. Lucy would’ve never returned back to District 12 especially after being shot at by Snow. Snow literally became an icon in the capital and held a lot of power. Lucy would’ve been as good as dead if she returned back to 12 and raised children. Not to mention her children would have to be put a raffle and potentially compete in the games.

The movie looks more interesting than the previous two films however the actress has exhibited her character (or lack there of) on the media circuit for the new Snow White (now defunct) I’ll watch the movie n celebrate the demise of her career simultaneously Cheers
