Madeleine! I've been doing NO Poo for a couple months now. I love it and notice my hair is way fuller and i just love it.. but i have noticed the past couple weeks my head has been so itchy! this brings me to my questions... what about conditioner? should we not use it? or should we? and do you ever feel itchy? i was thinking how crazy it is that my scalp is dry considering i should have a good amount of natural oils now.. but who knows! Any thoughts??

Great video! I personally started by gradually reducing how much of my shampoo I was using. After a few months, I switched to baking soda/ACV. Then after 10 months of that, I switched to oatmeal rinsing. That's when I went strictly water only for a month. It didn't work because of my hard water. So then I tried honey mixed with water and cinnamon before trying a citrus juice mixed with water. I honestly liked all of the methods. But now I'm water only, using distilled water to cleanse the excess inerals from my tap water, and a peppermint hydrosol, which is basically water. I love it! My hair grows SO FAST and definitely is thicker. I've even seen a little regrowth on my forehead!

I absolutely LOVE your channel. It's literally my favorite because you are so real and so beautiful and your videos are so fun to watch. Your channel is totally the inspiration for my channel that i am trying to grow. I am currently trying to find the best no poo method. I was using Castille soap and ACV rinse, but it was always so gross so I bought a natural shampoo, which has chemicals, but I guess not the harmful ones. Now, in the summer, I am using castille soap and ACV rinse again. I just hope my hair will look as good as yours all the time.

"Shampoo bars" are usually just castile soap (it's even easy to make your own). I follow it with a vinegar rinse to remove the drying soap residue. Hi! I have a question. When you go no-poo, do you still use conditioner with it? Or only the low-poo and nothing else? Thanks so much, want to try this, thank you!
@cocacola3289
@cocacola3289 4 жыл бұрын
Kenna Steele I know you asked her this question but me personally I didn’t because a lot of conditioners have silicons and the goal of no poo is to give up silicons and sulfates and other nasty ingredients. So when I started my no point journey I shampooed my whole hair, even the ends so I could get the silicons out, and I didn’t use conditioner. So initially my hair was really dry the first week but it sorted its self out. I wouldn’t recommend not using conditioner if you are going full no poo, if you are just transitioning then using sulfate free shampoo then get a silicon free conditioner, this will help your hair hair transition.

Annalise As said above just get them to wet your hair down and not wash it! People do it all the time so you don't even have to say anything about no poo! I would get a hair cut before starting no poo so when you need one again you're through the transition and your hair is clean for a cut! You can use a low poo shampoo before the cut to be sure!

Meli Weihe We vlogged on our joint channel our trip to feed some stray dogs! It was a great day! I wonder about volunteering at orphanages etc for a short space of time however. It seems a lot of places focus more on making the traveller feel good about themselves than actually helping the community. I worry a short volunteering trip would do more harm than good and would like to think of ways in the future to make more of an impactful difference.

Hi! I really need help with my no poo experience. I started no poo more than three months ago and my hair is still awful! My scalp is super oily and my ends are so frizzy and a mess! I started out with water only, it was a disaster. Baking soda and apple cider vinegar, disaster. Egg wash to control oily hair, the first time I washed my hair with it, it was awesome, however the second time, it became disgusting. Clay wash for oily hair, again, first time I washed it, it was so pretty, but it became oily and gross the second time. I tried literally everything in my kitchen from lemons to cornstarch to gram flour. Nothing did anything! Dry shampoo (cornstarch) helped, but I found myself applying it on my hair everyday or it would get all gross and waxy, and I don't want the hassle of doing that everyday! I oiled my tips with oils, it helped, but my hair was still frizzy. I have hard water where I live, but I don't have an option to getting a water softener or filter. I don't want to go back to commercial shampoos, but it seems like that is the only thing I have left to make my hair beautiful. I am not in the transition period now, I know this because back when I used shampoo, I only used shampoo in my hair care routine, that's it, nothing else. So it wouldn't have taken long to transition. If this helps: I wash my hair four times a week (yes, I have tried washing hair everyday along with snitching and preening with a boar brush, it did nothing!), my hair is not fine or thick, it's in between. I have tried to wash my hair with a SLS shampoo to remove any buildup, but the next time I washed my hair, it was awful! Sorry if this comment was so long, I'm just really desperate to finding a solution! Thanks for making it this far to reading, and respond if you could! :(

Reahna hello! i had almost the same problems.. did water only for 6 month. first two were awful oily and always dirty even if i washed and brushed them, then it got better for anotger few month they were pretty fluffy and clean, had a lot of volume.. but then it got awful again dry, oily, dandruff and dirty and nothing cleaned them. i really did all i could clay, vinegar, soap nuts.... after two months trying different stuff i got fed up and used shampoo, vegan and the most natural i could find, and my hair thanked me.. now i shampoo once a week and everything is clean and perfect. noo poo just wasn't for me or i didn't find the right way of washing my hair! so yes i think do as u feel best without stressing out.

My hair is also more of the in-between thickness and frizzy type, so maybe I am able to help: If you want to try a good low poo shampoo and conditioner the ones from morrocco method might work for you, but I also liked the myrto organics hair treatment. These were really good for the transitioning phase from regular shampoo to the self made three ingredient shampoo I now use. At the moment I am washing my hair with a mixture of rye flour (the more refined type since it's easier to wash out), water, apple cider vinegar and - if I need a little bit more moisture - a tiny amount of vegetable glycerin, urea or oil, depending what I have at home. I usually combine the flour and water first and only add the rest of te ingredient right before showering 30 minutes or so later. Also, I try to keep the water temperature as low as possible and rinse my hair with cold water before letting it air dry.

Try dry brushing with a 100 percent boar bristle brush . It moves the oils down the hair shaft. What I did is in most cases most people have to train there hair to make less oils . So what I did is every starting going as long your hair will go intell it gets really oily. Then wash with shampoo try using a clean not toxic shampoo. Also don't use conditioner that will make your oils worse. Then after you wash go again but each time add a extra day. If your hair just gets so oily use baby powder in your hair it will control the oil temporarily but it will sooth your scalp and help with the oil. Then after a while try not to use the baby powder and only use a apple cider water mixer put it in your hair let it sit for five mins then rinse. The oil won't 100 percent go away but it will help sooth. For me when I stopped using the baby powder and shampoo is when I made less oils and could go alot longer then before and I would use only apple cider vinegar and water mix on my hair . This month is the first month I have used only water on my hair and I didn't do that intell day 20. After a week my hair obsorbed the oils and it's not as oily. I think iam confident enough not to use shampoo at all now . If it dose go bad I will use the apple cider Vinegar rinse once bec that sees to help but I want to get to the point I won't have to use anything but water. So far it's going great. I want to get a 100 percent boar bristle brush so it can be even better.

Ok so I've got curly hair and I've been no poo (water only) for a while, which is working really well so far. However, I also want to cut using hair products, or at least replace my hair products with styling oils I can easily buy anywhere. My hair is too frizzy to not apply any product, but it's too fine to handle a thicker oil like coconut or olive. Any suggestions?

I use sweet almond oil, argan oil and avocado oil in my hair because its dry, frizzy and anything thicker than these makes my hair look really oily. Some times I blend them together and sometimes I just use them solo, but I have to put oil in my hair daily or it gets frizzy. Maybe one of these will work for you too.

Your hair has grow sooooo much! Girl its amazing! Also it looks lovely and so pretty. Did you noticed a change in your curls tho? I wanted to try your rotine but im afraid. I already lost my curls due to diy and i would like to get them back somehow

Eduarda Arrais I would love to get rid of my curls , seriously. What did you use/do that made you loose your curls? My hair is awful curly, frizzy I hate it.

jeff hayward OMG ahaha really? So we have different problems XD basically i have fine hair and i guess thats why i lost them. I pretty much cutted my hair and dyied with some temporary dyi but since my hair is so fragile that has been five months and the dyi is still here. I dont know if going through a quimical process is going to get you rid of all your curls, but it will deffinitly get them much more looser since it will damage your hair a little. Have you never tried dying it or something else? You could try in just one strand to see if works, if it doesnt, you can always try some natural recipes that help getting your hair in place. If you dont mind making of yourself a puddin, you could try a milk and honey mask, since the honey Will help with the Frizz and the milk Will slightly straight up your hair - of Course, it deppends a lot in your hair type and texture, but it wont hurt to give a shot ;) im sorry i couldnt Give a straight forward technice like tho this and your hair Will get super straight. Especially because one of the things i said envolve chemicals (ok im not english and im sorry if my english is a mess), i know that most people want straight hair without straighting it, and even tho i didnt, i still used some chemicals. Of Course that i went for something that would cause me minimal damage but for some reason my hair just sucked the dyi all in and wont let go. I hope i could give you an idea of what to do tho ;P

"my hair has grown so much" hair tends to do that, with or without product. (1 - 1,5 cm a month)

Lisa - Not necessarily! Damaged or split ended hair can have a really hard time growing past a certain length. My hair stayed at my shoulders for years when I used to straighten it and use all sorts of products!

Her hair has grew because she hasn't washed out her natural hair oils. The shampooing companies know this, that's why they sell you stuff, so you have problems and come back and buy more. It's not natural to put chemicals on your scalp and hair. Your natural oils are your best friend.

Does anyone know what to do about heat damage on no poo? I've recently gone no poo water only, and since I have a full fringe, I straighten it everyday. I don't want to use normal heat protector because of the chemicals, but I'm worried my hair will get super damaged. Does anyone know what to do about this? Thank you!!

Hi, I've been doing 'no poo' for about 4 months and my hair is splitting off half way down. I have been growing it long for a few years but all the growth is now in my hairbrush!! What is happening. My hair was lovely and silky prior to doing 'no poo' but now it is awful!! I will say that my scalp and the top half of my hair is good but the bottom ......... Argh!

What do you use for conditioner? Ive been low poo for some months now, but my hair is super dry (even after all the weekly coconut oil treatments I use). I think i need to start using a conditioner again but can't find any natural ways of making my own conditioner. Would you have any tips? Thanks!

Hi Vanessa, I have the same problem. Washed my hair yesterday the first time with rye flour and an apple cider rinse. I am worried if long term no poo will damage my already dry hair. Did you find a solution?
