Dreary I understand that, but it’s still rude to give someone criticism when they didn’t ask for it. I understand the intention is to help people improve, but if I was a kid just getting into art, I’ll improve more by someone telling me “good job keep practicing” rather than “this is really poorly edited”. Compliments > criticism (when it comes to kid beginners).

I remember that my trypophobia meme got in a cringe compilation once, i lost all my confidence and started to cry, i was like, 10 at the time and my dream was to become an animator, i still have that dream but i lost all confidence and decided to stop uploading videos out of fear of appearing in another cringe compilation, i think that the compilation got deleted, but still, all my confidence was thrown in the trash I don't get cringe compilations, whats so fun about making fun of children that wanna be known as artists, no one is born begin an artist, let's also add that cringe compilations steal content, even if it's from small channels is still stealing content, they never (or at least rarely) give credit and they defend that it's satire or it's constructive critisism, crushing a child's dreams and confidence is not either funny or constructive critisism, it's harmful, they could have become really great animators one day and you decided to crush that, are you proud of yourself? do you think that's funny?? They will sometimes give actual constructive critisism, but that's rare, and sometimes when it looks like they are giving constructive critisism they just say "UGH, THE CIRCLE TOOL?? LEMME DRINK BLEACH REAL QUICK" (also the bleach joke isn't funny either since it started when a girl actually wanted to kill herself by drinking bleach after begin a victim of cyber bullying, she ended up in the hospital) This may sound immature but people who make cringe compilations with that type of humour or just laugh at children, are technically bullies

Heck I even see a bunch of cringe compilations where a kids art is actually good while not traced and the description says "yes, ik [this young artist] is kind of good but, the anatomy is way too gross"

cringe comp really sucks bro there used to be cringe art Tumblr blogs where people put art that seems "cringey", its usually weird fetish art and beginner artists and dear god i was put on one of the blogs once (the art was from 2015 and it was a gift to an old friend) seeing that on the blog destroyed my motivation to draw (on what that time, it was FNAF) thank god no one came to witch hunt me and make me feel worse at art like!! kids need time to improve don't be mean to them we cant draw mosa Lisa as soon we're born people

I actually ended up on one of those too. And unfortunately I DID get a bit of witch hunting (not a lot) I was 14, thankfully, so I just sorta...made a post about it, and then ignored it. I didn’t quit cause I already knew I didn’t have the strength for that (back when I was 10 I quit for a year due to my sister’s “constructive criticism”-she didn’t know what that was to be fair to her). I got all the hate cause my digital art had barely improved between...3-4 years because I had nothing but a mouse and like...Paint or something?? Basically I did a big “f*** you” to the people who did that and moved on. Thankfully it also made some of the kind people come out of the network.

When i was younger and just getting into art, one of my pieces ended up in a cringe comp. it hurt so much to know THOUSANDS of people were making fun of something I had worked so hard on and was proud of. Looking back, yeah it was bad. Of course it was. I was young and didn’t know the basics of art. But that doesn’t mean that it deserved to be put on display for people to laugh at my feeble attempt

@super dude man I think the sans fangirl thing was a little unnecessary, as those are just kids who aren't doing anything wrong, and yeah calling out tracers is good and all but most of the time the animations presented aren't traced and are just kids having fun, they aren't hurting anyone. And that's where you fail to understand, a HUGE percentage of cringe compilations do not give any sort of critique and instead say how horrible and gross the animations are, i could go on and make an entire list, but i don't want to make this comment too long.

It's also stealing work that isn't theirs, and at times even monetizing said videos. i don't really want to argue either, but think about how THEY would feel, i mean if you finally decided to make an animation, it's your first time, you worked really hard on it, but then someone put your hard work into a cringe compilation, they call it a million things, like cringe, cancer, disgusting, trash etc. now tell me, how would that make you feel? Someone took your hard work (without your permission) and then continued to insult it, remember they are laughing at you, NOT with you.

When I was a little kid, I saw cringe comps and it's the reason I'm scared of showing off my art. Same with showing off "cringey" OCs. It sped up my process of being able to write balanced characters, but at the cost of all confidence in my art. Even if a child does improve from it, it will destroy their self image.

By the way, I several years ago ran into videos called "cute animation meme compilation", "iconic animation meme compilation" etc, which are the exact opposite of cringe compilations. Instead of putting people down, they're wholesome and supportive, and in some of them I even saw some works of beginning animators that were still practising their art. I wholeheartedly recommend checking those out, they're heartwarming to watch, and definitely a better form of entertainment than any cringe compilation. Edit: I would, for example, recommend checking out a channel called Chiphlowey, their videos are a great example of this.

on my channel i used to post art and speed draws and i was still finding out how to properly draw so it wasn't good, i started get comments like "not to be rude but, that's really ugly" or "lol thats bad" one day i received a comment saying "i found this on a cringe compilations lol 👀" and i just deleted all my videos and deleted and threw out all my drawings; later i made a video apologising and saying why because i felt bad for lashing out and just getting rid of them but now i don't post my art anywhere because i get negative feedback and it makes me more self conscious which is something i should work on anyway sorry for even writing this :/

I once got one of my videos put into a fnaf cringe compilation. I was 12 and was first getting into digital art. Sure, my art at the time wasn't great but I was super proud because I put so much effort and time into it, and planned to make it a series. My dislike to like ratio was insane. At first I didn't understand why, up until someone commented a link to a cringe comp with my video in it. I was upset, and not long after I deleted my video and my channel because of the way I was being treated. None of it was constructive criticism, all I got were hate comments and constant dislikes and I couldn't have felt more horrible. I hate cringe compilations, primarily those that are specifically to make fun of someone's art. It's scummy and cruel and hinders the growth of younger artists out there.

If you are gonna quit because you BATIM ship furry oc trypophobia meme animation got labeled as cringe and you just give up right there then did really have any passion for it? Is animation hard Yes. I remember my old art back in 5th grade, I was starting out with those how to draw manga books I remember being so proud of one my drawings and showed it to my dad he said it was great. About a week ago(I'm a junior now) I looked it at,I instantly cringe the porporations were all wrong(the head was 2x as big as the body) and the colors eye bleeding(purple lime green and hot pink) and I look over at my dad and I ask him "why did you tell me this was great" and he said "I like to see you draw it made you happy and motivated",I'm still smiling

For every critique, have a compliment and advice for new/young artist Example: "I like the way you drew the eyes and the style is unique, but the posing looks awkward, like they're tilting, and the hands look odd. I'd recommend watching tutorials and looking at references!" Cringe comps don't do this.

Just so you know I'm not defending cringe comps but some people make content with hopes to find their work in a cringe comp. Also a ton of it are actually kids and even adults making sexual content, bulling others, and people tracing art and claiming it as their own. No, most of it is that actually. But those are the only cringe comps that are actually ok since that might get them to stop making their stuff. Usually when they make one based off of beginner artists they give tips and tutorials to help them improve, actually. I used those tutorials and even if you look at my channel and see beginner stuff in actually very good now but I haven't made anything worth posting yet.

I honestly just started animation, and I’m scared to do my own thing, my anxiety gets to me really quick. I’ve always been very scared to do my type of stuff, I often worry I’ll be put into a cringe compilation. My dysgraphia makes me scared to even post things sometimes, And I feel like garbage and worry that I’ll be made fun of. I was in middle school when I was first introduced to animation cringe compilations but at the time I didn't think much of them. It would have never crossed my mind that the people who have channels dedicated to people (kids most likely or beginner artists) who HAD terrible art work have them being exposed to thousands or millions of people, until I saw this video. Now that I'm older and have came across this video, it makes me see those types of channels in a whole new light (and not in a good way). I just hope these channels know that people who love drawing or animating can improve their art over time, and that they were just doing something that they loved to do and want people to see their work.

Ello! I agree with you, but I am glad that these compilations exist because I get a good laugh out of them. There are certain compilations that provide good criticisms and tips, and I watch quite a few. I also despise them (slightly) because they just discouraged me from animating as I didn't ever wanna be in one. I don't think they should stop existing because some people enjoy them, and I don't wanna be the guy who took the enjoyment away from other people. But they are discouraging and the "memer" ones can be slightly damaging. Edit: The Gacha ones that involve "The Hated Child" or other ones that have real stories are not very positive, but the ones criticizing Gacha Sex I do agree with, as the inappropriate Gacha content needs to stop.

@Spo0ksi Wow. Thanks for replying! So I actually have changed my viewpoint on this a little. Someone I am subscribed to was put in a cringe comp not for being bad at art or animation (her art and animation are very smooth and she is incredibly talented), but for being a Sans fangirl. This actually really ticked me off, because just having feelings for a fictional character does not suddenly make you "cringe." The only "cringe compilation worthy" things I've ever come across are killing videos and, well, inappropriate Gacha. Animation cringe compilations, however, do need to stop. I agree with you there. Everyone starts at some place or another and I send my love to those kids who have the actual courage to put their animations out there.

I agree with this cause I remember how my mum killed my spark for drawing before i was even 13. I used to love drawing because my mum is a great artist she can paint, draw, sculpt the whole works. Like she used to be rich from selling her paintings. So I got my spark from her. But she killed it because according to her, her 9 year old daughter should be able to draw perfectly realistic faces and eyes. Even though I said I didn't want to draw realistically. The worst one was when I was 7, and for a 7 year old I was actually not that bad. I was the kid everyone came to when they wanted someone to draw something. But one day I drew something and was really proud of it because it was the best one yet and I showed my mum. She took a look at it and just looked back at her phone. I asked her if it was good and she just started to tell me everything wrong with it. All I wanted was her to tell me I was good at something. So I gave up, now all I am to her first kid, honestly not much of an accomplishment sense I'm a reminder of how she was r@p#d 14 years ago.

I remember when I used to draw fnaf and undertale related characters during the time when cringe compilations were popular. I often watched the compilations and they made me feel insecure about my art to where I left both fandoms behind because I thought that I should be hated for doing that kind of stuff. The cringe compilations I watched embedded themselves in my brain and I sometimes criticized art similar to fnaf or undertale because I thought that it was the right thing to do when it wasn't. I agree but not entirely. Cringe compilations for the most part are pretty offensive, but criticism-based cringe compilations are much better since they give constructive feedback on the creator. They are much better than normal cringe compilations.

I would've watched fangirl animation cringe comps, but not really to make fun of them. There was a fangirl of this one character I've seen who has changed and they made me believe that mean fangirls can become nicer. Ever since I've encountered them, I would've watched fangirl animation cringe comps - but only to keep an eye on them and see them (possibly) change. But I don't watch animation cringe comps in general, because my animation is currently shit and I'm trying to improve it - and I don't want someone to think that they can't improve because their animation is too awful. Also, I feel sorry about how people made fun of your PPG/PPGZ animation. I would've loved to see it - and I'm sure it was wonderful!

I am terrified about my animation. After all the cringe comps I've binged I've realized that if you're animation is any less then Ideal you can be put in a cringe comp. Animation is really hard and I know I'm not the best at it. But you know, it's fine. I haven't been put in a cringe comp yet.
