I was fortunate to know Blind Sammy and leading him up on stage at an obscure show in Tampa Bay years ago......meeting the REAL DEAL and having conversation. Clam Bayou Blues Bash held in a small hall and not many people there but the people that counted in the local Blues Scene and getting educated first hand and the EXPERIENCE

Sammy was The Man...drummer for Elmore James and BIG in his own right. Credit to Anson for bringing him out of obscurity and to the wider Blues audience. Anson is still out there touring catch him if you can. RIP Sammy blow some harp upstairs and with all the other Greats that have gone. Must be a hell of a band:)

I met Sam Myers about 30 years ago in Santa Cruz. He was playing with Anson funderburg at the time. Couldn't have been nicer. What a talent!

I saw Sam fall off a stage at King Biscuit at 5 feet and he hit HARD. He layed on the ground and kept playing his harp. He wasn’t much younger than this. True story.

I worked at the Grand Emporium in Kansas City and these guys came a couple times a year. Some of the nicest people you would ever meet. The ladies liked old Sam and Anson was Mike Judge’s inspiration for Beavis. Notice the hair? Mike Judge played bass in this band.

Anson used to live across the street from me for a few years. Helluva nice guy and I don't need to say anything about his guitar talent. One day I walked over and found him smoking a cigar out on his side porch, and he actually looked kind of down. I asked him if something was wrong, and that's when he told me that it was the anniversary of Stevie Ray Vaughn's death. He and SRV were very close friends, and Anson said he always felt sad (got the blues, I guess) every year on that day.
