My speculation is that when you buy warranty and your phone breaks, apple asks did you use the charger that was intended for the phone. Then you say no because the charger is prolly higher prices than any of the chargers avaliable out there. Then, Tada! Your warranty is voided because you didn't buy the expensive charger even if any ol' charger would've worked.(PS. Did not check the price of apple charge so not entirely sure if they cost more but I'm going to assume It is since apple would sell a Mac book stand for 1 grand)

apple computers are constantly getting cheaper. Consider than in 1989 a mac portable retailed for $6500. In 1995 a powerbook duo 100MHz cost $4500. the base model powerbook G4 was $2599 in 2001 and the top of the line 500MHz G4 $3499. In 2006 they came out with the macbook pro. Prices started at $1999 for the base 1.6GHz model. Today that's a middle of the range macbook pro money.

But you also gotta look at it from a different angle. computers and new technology back then was beyond hyped up and overpriced like designer cloths is. For 5-15 years after they came out with the first one majority households only had 1 computer if none at all. Now most adults in any house need their own laptop and maybe a separate PC. Growing up in the late 90s I remember my neighbors and moms friends always came over just to use our computer. My dad didn’t even make 2,000 a month and people were spending double that on computers.

And, concerning the stand thing, we're talking about pro equipment, not something you'll find in your run-of-the-mill studio or Apple-aficionado's living room. The price's high because it's an extremely specific and peculiar product, and they won't sell many at all: it's the basic law of demands principle, something that most commenters won't understand, as it's usually high-schoolers who couldn't afford this stuff bashing on Apple's prices. Btw, the M1 Mac Mini's as fast as a 600$ Ryzen or Core i9 CPU: considering the whole Mini costs 700$, is the "Apple products are overpriced" joke still going to cut it?
