The gun control lobby loves to argue that if we let more people carry guns, there will be more shootings, and they’re right; there will be more self-defense shootings.
Here we have another mall shooting stopped by a "good guy with a gun" where according to the El Paso police department, a private citizen with a firearm drew their weapon and injured the shooting suspect at the Cielo Vista Mall on Wednesday evening.
The gun control lobby also likes to argue that mass shootings are rarely stopped by concealed carriers, which is the most dishonest argument to make, considering the vast majority of mass shootings happen in places where law-abiding citizens are NOT allowed to carry a gun.
What this concealed carrier did is one more example of establishing a new reality for criminals.
As more people start exercising their right to carry, the more criminals will have to deal with the fact that they may be shot before they can finish their crime.

Going back to the 1980's, when they were just bringing out the 911 emergency lines, they had a big story about how a little 6 year old girl called for police when someone broke into her home and her father was getting beaten. All the national news shows were talking about what a wonderful thing it was and how this probably saved her father's life. It was years later before I found out the full story. Apparently the girls 12 year old brother had been the one to stop the criminal when he got his .22 rifle and shot the intruder. But a liberal reporter sees that and thinks to himself, "Well obviously this is the exception to the rule and we shouldn't report on it so we don't encourage other people to do the same." Except, because they don't report on it, everyone gets a skewed view of what's really happening, including other reporters who don't report on these cases and the vicious cycle continues.

Now, if it's on the other side of the store? Maybe best to try to get out and or hunker down with others and protect them until uniforms arrive. I say this because if you seek out the threat in plain clothes the chance of you being shot by another ccw and or uniforms goes way up. Definitely don't want a blue on blue. Alot of people don't consider that. That's my line of thought and plans should the worst happen. That's just my opinion though. Everyone can make their own decisions. US needs to reform its education system in a way so that it doesnt matter where youre from or how much money you have. Second: Social security. The less desperate the people are the less likely they are to do rash and desperate actions. Third: better psychological help. This involves normalizing getting help and denormalizing treating any psychological disorder with more drugs. These would be things you could do if you really want to lower murder rates without giving up guns. But they would require to either take away money from other places, reforming them to be more efficient with the same money, or take more taxes. Additionally change gun culture from "Anyone should have a gun" to "only responsible people should have a gun" if you really want the general public tobhave acces to guns. See guns as a right that has to be earned, not given.

This defender, and many others, is exactly why the proverb, "if you fight the righteous fight, you will always win in the end", is 100% true and every patriot embraces this concept. That's the right attitude to have. I myself am quite older but I am used to arms. They don't scare like others have been trained to think by the faked news and media. As a gun owner/carrier I heavily advise against USCCA. They take your money for nothing. If you have a justified shooting, they are useless, if you have any charges pressed against you, they don't defend you. It's redundant.

Firearms legal protection is the name of the insurance I have. I recently discontinued uscca. Firearms legal protection has a lot more monetary bonuses they advertise such as 250k bail bond on tap etc

From El Paso as well, thank you for helping shed light on the fact of the CCW holder that acted very bravely in neutralizing the threat. Just as others I only heard that off duty PD were involved. Sad we have to be prepared on that level, but if that's what it takes to keep my family, friends and innocent bystanders safe then so be it.

Peace officers are almost always minutes away. Trained private citizens willingly walking armed among us, daily, are a SUPERIOR deterrent to deranged violence. Willing citizens *must* go about armed. 'Gun Free Zones' are INSANITY: They are Victim Zones for mentally ill or evil perpetrators. The swift response of trained, armed private citizens *on the scene* is unquestionably superior to cowering defenseless while a killer mows down innocents. Only when we as a people accept our responsibility to defend ourselves and to eliminate 'gun free zones' (active kill areas for the deranged / evil) will mass shootings come to an end.

A couple more details, the shooter was using a stolen gun and during a press conference the Chief said there were 3 guys carrying at the mall. One of the reporters asked him about licenses and he replied "Texas is a Constitutional carry state." The location is a few hundred yards from the Walmart where the event occurred 3 years ago.

If you are going to conceal carry, GET YOUR LICENSE. Carry legally. Then get insurance (like US Lawshield or the equivalent). If you ever have to use your firearm, the lawyers will defend you if the city or the criminal's family decides to sue or press charges. Really proud of the people who defend others in these turbulent times.

Mr. Duran (I think that's his name) did all of us El Pasoans a great favor in putting shots accurately on the armed criminal so no one else would be harmed! You are a hero! I live in El Paso and work within half of a mile of the Cielo vista shopping mall. As you can imagine, I spent a lot of time in front of the TV waiting for information. Unfortunately, that was information that never came. Surely, I heard about the off duty police officer, but, until this video, had no idea there was an armed citizen who intervened. I'm not sure if the El Paso news outlets chose not to cover this, or if they're just that bad at investigating a news story.

In 2016 the state requirement to have a license to carry was eliminated. So why the heck is concealed carry emphasized? Texas allows anyone 21 or over to carry a handgun in a holster without a permit both openly and/or concealed.
