When I was 14 year's old I worked as a candy stripper in a nursing home where my mom worked in the laundry. I met a man named Billy who had cerebral palsy. I would just push him around in his wheelchair and talk to him. Billy couldn't communicate with word's but I could tell he really enjoyed my company. When I was 17 I went to work in another nursing home and to my surprise there was Billy down the hall from me. Billy began to make loud noise's when he saw me. I went to Billy to say hello and I asked him do you remember me Billy. He was vigorously shaking his head yes, he was so happy to see me as I was him. Billy was gesturing for me to take him to his room, he had something he wanted to show me. Hanging on the wall was his minister license, I was so surprised and happy for Billy. Of course I congratulated Billy, I learned a valuable lesson that day. You just can't ever tell what someone else is thinking or feeling, I was definitely humbled. The last time I saw Billy he was in the hospital with pneumonia, he knew his time here was about over. There was no sadness, Billy was very intelligent and he knew that he was going to be taken care of in his afterlife. I continued to work in nursing and I had the knowledge I learned from Billy to alway's be kind to my patient's. It paid off more than once with other people who were like Billy, it also helped me to teach other's this valuable lesson in life. Elvis was very kind and understanding to take care of Gary, it give's me even more respect for Elvis. Thank you Ashley, I hope you enjoy my story about Billy.

What an amazing video Ashley! Gary was such an amazing man, his body might not have worked, but his brain worked very well and he was very smart. I'm just in awe of all he accomplished in his life. Such a shame what all happened after his daddy passed. I know that was hard on them. Elvis and Gary must have been destine to be friends, or at least I think so. It seems Elvis never hesitated to jump in and help someone when they needed it. Gary devoted his life to Elvis and I was happy after Gary's daddy passed that Elvis put him on the pay roll. I know it couldn't last forever, but was sadden when Vernon gave him his pink slip. Nancy was a God send to Gary, and I feel she cared for him well. Gary knew he could trust her to take care of his precious gifts from Elvis. There was a reason he didn't tell his family about these gifts, knowing probably that they would sell them and he would have no control over them. Even if it was for help for Gary, those were still precious to him. I'm glad the court ruled in favor for Nancy. Can't wait for that interview!!! Great work Ashley, you knocked this one right out the ballpark!

100% all of that. A few people have reached out that have CP as well. I can’t put myself in his shoes like that but Elvis was a wonderful friend period. Gary needed extra time to express his thoughts and Elvis gave him that. Even just that gesture was admirable, let alone the endless gifts! Thank you Anita! ❤️

I love this documentary Ashley. Only watched it now cause I only subbed yesterday after youtube referred me to your channel. 👍 this is such valuable information for us Elvis fans overseas who have never been to Memphis. Thank you for your heartfelt videos. I love it. Gonna watch all the previous stuff i missed... keep up the Elvis legacy and the good work you're doing. From South Africa 👍🇿🇦

So happy you enjoyed this one - Gary is one of my favorite Elvis topics and I don't want his legacy to be forgotten!! Thank you so much for tuning into my channel and for the encouragement, Ivy! If you're interested, I did an interview with Gary Pepper's nurse who helps clear up some of the myths and controversies: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWrQl6ucaLSkgdU

Gary Pepper was/is my cousin. I grew up with my dad and family spending time with him. My dad supported him when he returned to Long Beach, Ca.

Wow, thank you for saying that and tuning into this one! I was really proud to share my findings on Gary's life and times. What started as one story took me down a rabbit hole. There are currently 6 videos on his life and friendship with Elvis and I'm working on another, as well as other projects. Here is the playlist, but don't feel pressured if you're Gary'd out! kzbin.info/aero/PLpbgiT3hsfNbYyeqaWK8Gl9o4D2VFNVM8&si=4BLx436Y0hGoJuZ2
