Hi, I got this with all DLC recently on sale, but after a lot of consideration and watching a few videos. I wanted the most realistic game with the most cars in it (ultimately with all the DLC) that I could decently play with a controller. I know it's not exactly a purist's kind of thing, but I like to play racing games that I don't have to set up a massive wheel for, although I had known and had plenty of mates that had that set up. I don't knock their playstyles or investment, but I just want to relax more when racing. I'm also not that interested in online racing and don't see that as an essential part of the experience I'm looking for. I missed this review before buying, but would've valued it in probably nudging to buying it also based on this excellent review, and this is despite potentially having the money for a more modern offering, but I don't want the outlay an amount of space required to have a wheel and pedals and so on to play. Thanks for your review, footage and balanced comments.

On console, it’s definitely playable, but pales in options compared to PC1 and 2. On PC, base AC isn’t worth your time. You have to mod AC to the point where the original launcher can’t even handle all the options. When modded to high hell on PC, it can easily rival the best of the best of all time. The only limits being what Ilja and Peter Boese can come up with. VR is absolutely a must try for AC. And being able to finally drive in the rain at night going a little slower than the speed of light is such an unrivaled experience. Even if you paid for basically every mod thrown at you, you still wouldn’t even come close to the price iR would charge for barely the base content of AC.

I definitely can't run the game with the original launcher because of all the mods but the solution is to use content manager. Works fine with that. You're right about VR, absolutely awesome.

I only have three mod tracks installed, and I still enjoy playing AC seven years after I purchased it. The main problem for me is the lack of road car races online. I get the feeling that quite a lot of AC users do not realise just how much more interesting it is to drive/race the road cars compared to the boring high downforce modern race cars.

Your review sold me and at a price of $5 and change Canadian on Steam well why not. Funny thing is I always end up enjoying driving games and used to play them til my fingers were almost blistered when I was a kid but hardly touch them now. I think a change in what I play might be in order as gaming is to be fun and not a chore. The last many months I played WOW after being suckered back into it and I think it is time to cancel the sub. There are more fun things to play and things you can actually put down and pick up again without worrying about a schedule for this and that.

I think Assetto Corsa is one of the few games where mods/community really shines and shows the true capability of mods. Sure we had Skyrim and such but theyre all gimmicky. Maybe City Skylines as well but AC is crazy!! The community alone is a reason to play this game. From unlicensed car to vans. Maybe even hearse race but i dont know

Its so much better on PC and using content manager with the Custom Shaders patch, and Sol makes this game even better, by a mile. Also recently ran across another program, again for PC that can make the visuals even more better to work with. And of course you mentioned modding. Which kills it . I have played many of the new sim games, including Assetto Corsa Competizione which is now my go to and still play Asaetto Corsa a lot. Iracing is great but the money in that you have to invest is astronomical, in my opinion. Which pushes me away from it. Iracing needs to lower their track and car prices and they would probably get more people to join their game. The membership fees I can kinda understand. But man i put in so much effort fo get out of rookie class, and yea I should have know I would have ro purchase some more content but not as much as I found it to be. I would, and have, rather race assetto corsa and pay for the dlc where the prices are no where near iracings. Sorry had to say all that because its true. And With content with this review. Kind basic in my oponion considering you wers focusing on al platforms. And needed some more comparison. .....

Assetto corsa by itself is a great racing sim but in my opinion not super super fun. But it’s the modding potential that really shines because of how many mods are there like tracks and cars the potential is limitless and assetto corsa modding has gone really far

@@timmyrandomvideos4375 simply an issue of skill, it's a "simulator", so please dont tell me you expect the cars to handle like nfs or forza lmfao. graphics aren't great for the stock version, but custom shaders patch, a general modification for assetto which has a really tight integration with the game, changes it to look hella more realistic.

You can only race on a couple of road tracks of which tokyo is not one. You would need to be playing on PC to mod this in.

The deluxe version (all console dlc) has been as low as $10. Worth it even if you already have the base game. But currently, online multiplayer on PS4 is pretty much deserted (compared to PC2). But if you are into console ACC but want to drive a bunch of different cars without major adjustment from your ACC chops (not as much as you have to make going to PC2, at least!), this is the game to get.

Physics and handling are the same between PC and PS4 for all the included game content. Pc does however have mods which are not available on PS4 which will have physics and handling models made by a 3rd party. Hope this helps! :)

@@AverageGameReviewsI have been playing AC ultimate Edition on ps4. but just now I played raw standard AC on PC with all the post processing filters and the game, sense of speed is more immersive and amazing on PC. Where as on ps4 the sense of speed is not that much immersive. Also the physics handling and ffb are very much different between AC PC version and AC ultimate Edition PS4 version. On PC the cars feel more agile, oversteering and have more downforce, as opposed to AC on ps4 are more rigid and bit understeering and less downforce. Due to which my highest lap time with LA Ferrari on SPA track on PC is 2min.25sec , whereas on Ps4 with same settings( same track, grip, assistance) it is always 2min.30 sec. I am 100% sure there are lots of differences between AC on PC and ps4. What's your opinion? Also did anyone notice the differences

Assetto corsa or Assetto Corsa Competizione? Competizione is GT3 and GT4 racing only, has better graphics and a better campaign/career mode. Assetto Corsa has a variety of different cars (made even better by modding if your on PC) but a pretty rubbish career. If your on console then the online lobbys are pretty dead in Assetto Corsa due to the games age, although they are much better on PC.

If you are on PC, you can easily do this through mods. If you are on console, then assists is really your only option!

Definitely playable on a controller, but better on a wheel of course! And no, you don't have to get into car setup if you don't want to! If you haven't got it already, I recommend checking out Gran Turismo Sport - Even better on controller and amazing casual online racing!

I don’t have a PS online account because I can’t justify the outlay due to limited time to play games so for £7 which Assetto Costa is currently on sale for on the PS store ( Ultimate Edition) so do you reckon for that price it’s a no brainier if you can just pick up and play it as well as get into the set up malarkey later on should.I get good 😊 The most important thing to me though, are the cars reasonably controllable with a PS4 controller to the point I can have fun and not constantly skid off and be reasonably competitive.Edit…. I bought the original Project Cars and found it far too hard to play because it needed all the setting up and wasn’t very good on the controller so I’m hoping AC is easier to play for casual gamers like me.

Idk if it's only me, but i hate the force feedback on this game, i cant feel when the rear end is getting lose, whereas on pc2 i can perfectly control the car... i got asseto corsa ultimate edition 24 reais = 8 dollars so i don't regret it...

If you are on PC, you can 'mod in' pretty much all the ultimate edition cars! Still worth getting the ultimate edition if there is minimal price difference though as the cars are very high quality. If there is a decent price difference, just get the base game and mod the cars in!

Hello. The ultimate edition adds all the DLC packs. This includes Red Bull Ring, Ferarri F1 cars, all the Porsche cars and more. In my opinion, it's definitely worth getting if you can!

If you have played other games such as Gt Sport or Project cars 2, then I would definitely recommend this game! You should also take into consideration that it is best played with a wheel, as the experience isn't nearly as good if you don't have one :)

@@jake4726 Yes, this is a very good wheel however I would recommend checking out the Logitech G29, as this is a very comparable wheel at a lower price! (I use a G29)

@@AverageGameReviews Its not comparable, lol. The 300 rs is much better with the belt system.Logitech has loud and shitty gear racing. Only Logitech pedals are a bit better than stock t300 rs pedals. Gear driven wheels are the cheapest and worst. Direct drive the best.

@@DeathIess You are right, the belt driven system is better. I have not used both wheels, however from comparisons, most say the wheels are similar. Also, I assumed this person was looking for something budget or mid range - otherwise a direct driven wheel would of course be the best by a long way!

If you can get it for £6, then you don't have much to lose. I would however recommend getting the ultimate edition if you can, as it unlocks a lot of content! (Not worth £14 more in my opinion though) I think I have seen the ultimate edition for £10 in the past though. Let me know if you have any other questions :)

@@AverageGameReviews I’m a little confused as to why you think it’s not worth £20 because you had good stuff to say about it. How does the cars handle with g29 wheel? Is it extremely hard? I’ve just got my wheel and only played dirt4 and that game handles great . Although, I do have some assist on as I’m new with wheel. Does assetto have any assist options? Oh, apparently the g29 works with ps3. Do you know if true? If so, I may pick up a bunch of cheap racers for ps3. Not played ps3 since 2013 lol.

1. It really just depends on how much you value DLC, so maybe it is for some people. It also depends on how much you will play this game. If your intending to do a lot of offline racing, then it is probably worth it, as this will unlock loads of the 'special events'. Here's a good website which shows what content is DLC only: www.gtplanet.net/assetto-corsa-ultimate-edition-car-list/ 2. The game works really well with my G29 wheel, and there are traction controll and ABS assists for most cars. The game is 'hard' without these assists (Likely 'harder' than Dirt 4 as that is an arcade, although I havn't played it). With assists though, you should be fine. 3. Yes, the wheel is compatible with PS3! There is a switch in the top of the wheel to allow you to change from PS4-PS3 modes. (Gran Turismo 5 and Need For Speed Hot Persuit are my top recommendations if you havn't already played them) Sorry this took so long for me to get back to you - If you need a quick answer then try my discord :)

I have a few great racers on ps3, just hope they work with wheel. My 2 favs are Grid and Dirt 2. Oh, no worries about reply time. It’s all good 👍
