Not to be annoying, but ... Dennis Yost was the lead singer for the Classics IV, while Ronnie Hammond was the lead singer for ARS. Two members of the Classics IV also played in ARS (JR Cobb and Dean Daughtry). Buddy Buie produced, managed, and wrote/co-wrote songs for both bands.

This is actually a remake of a song from the 60's by the Classics IV. Different vibe from each one. Worth listening to both. From ARS I would suggest Imaginary Lover, So Into You and Champagne Jam. "So Into You", "I'm Not Gonna Let It Bother Me Tonight", "Do It Or Die", Champagne Jam", and "Dog Days". Was lucky enough to see them twice during their prime, and once years later on a small "reunion" tour. Being mostly session players prior to ARS, they were an awesome live group, with serious musical chops. And the bass player, Paul Goddard, was a wild man on stage.

@@walterleonard2489 I have to admit that in most cases (there are always exceptions) I prefer the original version of a song - the original intent of the singer and song writers. An example of an exception would be "Amarillo By Morning". It was a big hit for George Strait (I love his version), but was originally written by Terry Stafford (who wrote and sang "Suspicion" back in the 60's.

Classics IV is the original and the best . They also did many other songs that were hits. "Stormy" "Sunny" is another great song by The Classics IV.

Well, that's not entirely true. Have of Classic IV were also in ARS. In fact, the person who wrote Spooky was Mike Shapiro, and it was just an instrumental. Then J.R. Cobb of the Classics IV added lyrics and recorded it with the band. He and 2 other Classics IV members joined ARS after the Classic IV split up. So, theoretically, it's neither groups' song, at least as far as the original tune goes. As far as the SONG goes, it was done by both groups by the original lyricist and his bandmates.
