Sorry to bother, I joined the diagnostics network just as you have in your video. Hoping to find the same link to the 'ford sboot driver' but, am unable to read the comments. Do you or anyone else know of another place to find it? Thanks, Am very green to programming modules and trying to learn.

What an overcomplicated, undocumented, hermetic and frustrating process! I bet you lost a lot of time before you could reach the point to make this video. Hats off to your perseverance, Jake!

That's an awesome aftermarket bypass! It's way easier with FDRS and Ford dealers privileges😅 At least on the newer models. I replaced 3 APIMS last year. All had different symptoms.

at 17:32, you disconnected APIM module from computer, re-connected original cable which connects module to console outlet, plugged the USB flash drive into console USB outlet (so now USB flash drive is connected to module), yet your computer seems to be connected to the vehicle and / or module because you hit "OK" on computer to begin transfer from USB flash to module. How is computer connected to vehicle / module at this point? How did you read the VIN at 6:58?

MUCH easier on my daughters 2016 Escape, it did a OTA update AFTER I selected her home wifi and told it to do the OTA updates, easy! I did however have to buy a new USB port under the center armrest to enable Apple CarPlay, but that was easy too. Thanks!

Does anyone know if oem ford service information has documentation on this process or did ford really just leave everyone in the dark on this?

Even when your programming the PCM and/or BCM, there are parts of the programming that take time. You can almost run out for a sandwich. The last two F450's I had to program was the PCM and BCM on one because the PCM would not turn on the A/C Clutch and the BCM for the remote to lock and unlock the doors and that BCM would not communicate also. The second was having BCM communications problems. The two of these F450's had V10 engines and of course automatic transmissions. The two vehicles came off the same assembly line one after the other. In fact the only VIN difference was the last number. I don't remember the sequence numbers exactly, but it would be this way. The first 16 numbers were the same for both trucks the last number would be one (1) for the first truck and two (2) for the second truck. I called them "The Evil Twins." Actually they were both good, single bucket trucks, and the shop that brought them over was REAL HAPPY to get them back. But it was a learning curve programming the two modules on one truck and the one module on the second truck with the IDS and the VCM. And no battery maintainer! This was back in 2015. I used my fully charged jumper box with both vehicle's battery's fully charged before starting programming. I had also plugged in my jumper pack's charger plug to help keep it up. Ya, it all worked. Both vehicles worked great! Thanks for the info Jake.

Several years ago i updated my Escspe Titaniums sync and added Navigation. I was able to update Sync and Navigation with thumb drives. It did take over 40 minutes to update. Then i used an ELM connector for my laptop with the Forscan app to change a couple values. It has worked well for me for years. DIY Reid has a great video how to.

I cannot help but think that Forscan would have been easier, and straightforward. Forscan should be able to do the APIM if the calibration file is available.
