Excellent summary of the Pure Drive history! I had no idea that the original was from the old ProKennex Destiny mold! I miss when ProKennex was a value brand and wish they would start selling some moderately priced frames again. BTW, I hear that ProKennex is updating and bringing back the Black Ace. Any chance you will playtest that model?

I respect that. One of the few lines that makes it easy to switch every iteration . I used to play with the pure drive but I had switched to the k blade and only the blx blade was comparable. Since then each iteration feels different making it hard to update.

Good to see that Babolat has made some improvements to improve the feel and comfort. The Pure Drive has always been known to be a very stiff racquet that caused arm discomfort.

It's still stiff. That hasn't changed. It's a slightly more rubberised feel but it's only marginal.

Been using them since the swirly model. No problems here. Maybe bad technique for some. Gripping it too tight.

@@danoliver8804 i have effortless tehnique and played with With the old babolat from 2012 and had absoluetly no issue. Now i have updated to the 2021 model, strung it with prince poly and it is literally killing both my arms(using a two handed backhand) after 1 hour of hitting. I have restrung it with multifilament babolat xcel and will give it again a try this afternoon. I hope it goes smoother otherwise i will part ways with it..

I feel like the Wilson Clash is the equivalent and Wilson has gone for a very soft feel while Babolat seems to stick with the stiffer feeling racquet. Looks like that is true here as well.

Fab review by Hank. I agree with him, by just looking at his strokes, looks like it needs a lot more heft to make it into a proper beast mode weapon ... and here's where The Vicious Circle begins ...As soon as you stabilise it with weight, it's going to be way too powerful that you keep hitting everything out, and the back fence often, at which time, you'll increase tension to keep the ball in, at which time, your Elbow will scream "What the Hell are you doing to me??!!" ... I will pass on the 2020 PD, as I've done with previous versions for past 15 years for the same reason, but I have to add, this racquet always brings a smile to my face :)) It has so much easy power that you forget there's such a thing as Finesse in Tennis :))

Just find some low power racquet. That's what pros do. You can customize it according to the power you need, but if the racket is already that powerful, decrease it is a bad way

We talk about higher the tension mainly to increase the control level. If you feel you need that control, higher the tension might not hurt you because your body needs that, but if the purpose is to decrease the power, the range should be careful

I will leave it up to Hank to reply, but he seemed to enjoy with RPM Blast. RPM Power will be slightly softer and more powerful though...

I have not tried it with any other string then RPM Blast so far, and it works very well. I will try some more strings and update the info later
